Daily Current Affairs - 18.12.2016 www.race4bankexams.in 1 Rishi Academy of Competitive Exams TM December 18: International Migrants Day RBI opposes proposal to set up separate payments regulator HDFC gets RBI nod to raise Rs. 3,000 crore more in masala bonds PF interest rate cut down to 8.65 per cent Paytm launches 'Each one, teach one' campaign to increase digital inclusion 6 The International Migrants Day was celebrated on 18 December by the international community to recognize the efforts, contributions, and rights of migrants worldwide. 6 Observance of the day marks anniversary of the UN's International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families. 6 It was approved by the UN General Assembly on Dec. 18, 1990. 6 Earlier in September 2016 the UNGA had adopted New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants. 6 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has opposed a move to establish a separate entity to regulate payments and settlements as recommended by Ratan Watal Committee for Digital Payments. 6 The 11-member committee was notified in September 2016 by the Union Finance Ministry to review existing payment systems in country and recommend appropriate measures for encouraging Digital Payments. 6 Mortgage major HDFC has received permission from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to raise Rs. 3,000 crore by issuing 'masala bonds' after it exhausted a Rs. 5,000 crore limit to issue these bonds. 6 Through the 'masala bond' route, an Indian company raises money overseas denominated in Indian rupees. 6 Nearly 15 crore people subscribed to employees provident fund scheme will earn interest at the rate of 8.65 per cent on their savings in 2016-17. 6 This is the lowest in the last seven years. 6 The decision was taken at the 215th meeting of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO)'s central board of trustees, chaired by Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya in Bengaluru. 6 Paytm has launched 'Each one, teach one' campaign to increase the digital inclusion in the country. 6 The campaign aims transforming user behavior and further accelerating the country's ongoing shift from cash. 6 It calls upon consumers and merchants across India to teach others on how to use Paytm to pay and accept money. 6 India's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) launched State Bank MobiCash Mobile Wallet. It is a joint product by SBI and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). 6 Initially, this wallet services will be available in Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana and Bihar and expanded pan-India by the end of December 2016. MobiCash will allow smartphone users to deposit cash through BSNL retail outlets and withdraw funds from their account. 6 The Union Govt has decided to set up a single permanent Tribunal to adjudicate all inter-State river water disputes. 6 This single body will subsume all existing tribunals for resolving grievances of inter-State water disputes in a speedy manner. 6 It will be headed by a retired Supreme Court judge. 6 The Union AYUSH Ministry has launched 'Swasthya Raksha Programme' to promote health and health education in villages. December by the international community to recognize

the efforts, contributions, and rights of migrants

worldwide.

6Observance of the day marks anniversary of the UN's

International Convention on the Protection of the Rights

of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.

6It was approved by the UN General Assembly on Dec.

18, 1990.

to achieve 100 percent Aadhar saturation on the basis of

opened at state police headquarter in Shimla.

6The main objective of this police station is to deal with

increasing crime based on misuse of information

technology by the High tech criminals.

6This police station will investigate cyber offences like

hacking of government web sites and its data,

all types of cyber fraud cases.

6India's first transgender school will be inaugurated at

Sahaj International School in Kochi, Kerala on

December 30, 2016 by transgender rights activist and

artist Kalki Subramaniam.

6The purpose of this school is to provide transgenders

security, salvation and sustainability.

6The school will provide education and examination

equivalent to Class X and XII.

6The students will be selected from different sections of

the transgender community itself, which includes a

disabled person and a migrant.

6India and Tajikistan have signed four agreements in
