ated as the newest member of The Rotary Club of North Scott in what has been a weekly event recently.

Bill Tubbs presenting
In February, Bill Tubbs was part of a team of 37 Rotarians from North America who traveled to Delhi, India, for Polio National Immunization Days. His program on Friday will include pic-tures and the latest information about Rotary's global quest to eradicate polio. Bill graduated from Iowa State and has been publisher of The North Scott Press since 1971. He was a charter member of North Scott Rotary in 1973, and served as club president in 1995-96, District 6000 District Governor in 2004-05, and club executive secretary from 1996-2007.
Bill is World Community Service chair for North Scott Rotary. He is editor of District 6000
News, and chairs the district's Vocational Service and Public Relations committees. He will be District 6000's delegate to the 2013 RI Council on Legislation, and recently was named Assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator for Districts 5650, 5970, 6000 and 6420.
Bill and his wife, Linda, are parents of Aimee (Moe Provencher), Seattle; Anne (Matt) Olson, Urbandale; and Alisa (Joe) Sleep, West Des Moines. They have two grandchildren, Nolan and Clara Olson, and are eagerly ancticipating a third in July.

Oaxaca, Mexico—Gardens For Life Project The Rotary Clubs of Davenport, Be-endorf, North
Sco- and Iowa Quad Ci?es teamed up to
co-sponsor a Rotary Founda?on Matching Grant to
provide sustainable living for the garbage pickers in
Oaxaca, Mexico. The Gardens For Life Project aims to
secure food provisions for the recycler families that
live in the different landfills of Oaxaca and to improve
the nutri?on and ea?ng habits of children of
low-income families that a-end schools in the
periphery of the city, while also caring for the environment.
The Rotary Club of North Sco- pledged $500 towards the project.
Along with the other pledged amounts and Rotary Interna?onal Matching Grants
The total amount of the project will be over $10,000

NEW MEMBER: TODD P. GULLICKSON
Todd Gullickson joined North Sco- Ro-
tary on Friday, April 27. His sponsor is John
Pheiffer whom he became acquainted with
through the Kaaba Shriners. Todd was the
2011 president of the local group of Shrine
and really enjoys helping others. He hopes to
con?nue helping others through the Rotary
group.
Todd is married to Dora and they have
3 children, Brendan, Emma and Leah. They
reside in Davenport and are members of Trini-
ty Episcopal Church. Todd also enjoys golf and
travelling.
He is a partner in the family owned
business of the Gullickson Group. They pro-
vide financial services, business and estate
planning. He joins his father and brother in
this 40 year old business. Please give Todd a
warm North Sco- Rotary welcome.

Davenport Levee Commission
Nine and one half miles of the Mighty Mississippi River is publically owned and Steve Ahrens
with the Davenport Levee Commission is responsible for it. Steve is proud of the Farmers
Market and the local food shops that are going into the old Freight House building. He told
about the free summer concerts, the Veterans Park that is under construc?on and various oth-
er improvements that are under way along the river.
Todd Gullickson was inducted as the newest member by past president Charlie Jones. The on-
ly guest a-ending was Duncan Cameron, who claims his home Rotary club to be in Naples, FL.
Fi>y eight a-ended on Friday and fines of $38 were collected by Eric Langan. Cody Birely
played the piano this week and thanked the club for the $75 dona?on for Special Runners
made in his name.
