LAST MEETING – January 30, 2015 – Dr. Louis Katz Fifty five members and one guest, Pastor Ron Carlson, were present on Friday to learn the real facts about the Ebolavirus, as presented by Dr. Katz, Chief Medical Officer of America’s Blood Centers in Washington, D.C. Ebola is an old disease, but here in a new context. There are four dif-ferent strains that can cause disease in humans, which has a 70% fatality rate. The disease is transmitted by droplets and has an incubation period of 2 to 21 days. In West Africa, the disease was transmitted so freely as the water used to wash the dead bodies of the vic-tims, was then used to anoint the family members. Some 20,000 cases were diagnosed in Nigeria and West Africa. It is believed to have been started from fruit bats or other mammals that lived in a dead tree. No cases have originated in the United States. A few people were transported to the U.S. for medical attention after becoming sick in Africa. Blue badges were awarded on Friday to: Tricia Kane, Joe DePaoli, Mike Donahue and Deb Peterson. Jeff Ashcraft was the sergeant and collected $103 in fines. Everyone who did not help with the Special Olympics the past Saturday was asked to give a buck.

The 4 Way Test Of the things we THINK SAY or DO

1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
