God showed his faithfulness in a number of ways this winter holidays. Most directors found it hard to organise enough volunteer staff for their camps this

year, with final volunteers being found moments before camps began. Although begin they did and in Gods providence and grace we found all the volunteers

need to run four very successful camps.

We also are so grateful to our many volunteers (over 50 willing people) who chose to share their talents, sacrifice time and often money, to make a difference

in these campers lives. There is one Love that draws us all together and pushes us out the door. Every day. His

name is Jesus, and at the end of the day, He is worth it all.

The four camps that were held over the winter holidays were the Boys and Girls Winter Camps, Art / House Party Camp and Southern Lads Camp. Videos and photos from these camps can be found on our

website and Facebook pages.

Leadership Camp

CAMPING BLURBI want to start by sharing with you the encouraging weekend that was had at the Leadership Training in June. It was so exciting to see so many young people so keen to serve Jesus passionately through CYC Waihola and be so keen to learn how to be better leaders. We had 11 new trainees who had never been leaders at CYC camps before and most of them were quite young with great leadership qualities which was really encouraging. Many of them volunteered at our winter camps. There was also a couple of more experienced leaders that attended and their input into the group discussion was invaluable.

The winter holiday camps have just finished and once again the Lord has blessed us with wonderful camps. God has continued to bless the camp with creative people with some great ideas for reaching young people in the current generation. Please pray we can continue to offer a wide range of varied and different programs in our mission to share the Gospel.

The Girls Art/ House Party Camp was directed by Julianne Hannah who did an excellent job. They had 11 girls who had the most wonderful week doing all sorts of fun crafty activities organised by Rochelle Wiel. As the girls were from a mixture of backgrounds it was neat to see how leaders took the opportunity to encourage those from Christian backgrounds to live out their faith in all spheres of life, while also pointing girls who knew little of Christianity to Christ as the only Saviour and bringer of true life. Overall, it was a special camping experience with loving leaders who cared well for the girls in many ways, and they were blessed by the Christian fellowship and encouragement from one another as leaders

The Boys Winter Camp had an a large number of boys attend this Army theme camp directed by Hamish Smith. There were great decorations, activities and food. John Laing, from OAC Ministries in Nelson, was the speaker at this camp again and like usual he held the campers attention each morning for more than an hour with his dynamic talks and activities based around finding the real treasure. The boys had a great time on the usual CYC activities of go carting, flying foxing, archery and air rifle shooting – they even managed to fit in some mid winter kayaking.

The Girls Winter Camp featured a great program, great leaders, great kids, great guest speakers and awesome activities based around the theme “Food Glorious Food!” Jill Kumar focused the campers with an abundance of food activities and challenges. The guest speakers had wonderful Bible talks such as Fruit of the Spirit / Food for the Soul, Jesus – the Bread of Life, What if God gives bitter food? and Popcorn – God Turns Us Inside Out. It was a great camp in every way - the devotions in the morning, the talks and worship sessions, activities, spending time mixing with the children - everyone was especially encouraged by the large number of girls that attend the voluntary prayer time daily after lunch.

The Southern Lads Camp is a much needed camp in today’s post-modern world and it would definitely be described as a ‘politically incorrect’ camp. 9 boys (and the leaders also) gained valuable life skills whilst getting their hand’s dirty under the guidance of Alf Bradfield - whom in the promotional material we described as ‘the Chuck Norris of Lawrence’. Boys certainly need this kind of manly scripture-based wisdom in today’s culture. This small camp is one that seems to create a great family atmosphere where both camper and leaders leave physically tired but spiritually encouraged and feed.

Overall, God showed His goodness and faithfulness in numerous ways, and may He continue to bring fruit from the seeds sown these holidays.

General NewsWe are very thankful for not only the big prayers God answers but even the small ones. In particular one of our ovens a week before camps started decided to cease working. We thought that it we were going to be one oven down and that we had to do something drastic to be able to cook for the upcoming camps, but with only a quick patch up job and A LOT of prayers and nursing from our cooks the troubled oven made it through the busy two weeks with no major issues. Praise the Lord.

The new adventure and activity policies continue to be much work. Please continue to pray for Tim that he may have wisdom as he continues to trudge through the polices and apply the ones that are relevant to us into our standard operating procedures.

The camping committee is preparing to ask selected people to direct our 2015 camps, please pray that God will be preparing the hearts of these people for this ministry and that other keen directors may come forward and volunteer to direct further camps.

We have very few accommodation bookings this term so Tim and I are making the most of it taking some annual leave. Other than that we are able to do some general

maintenance and catch up on lots of our paper work in the down time.

Many thanks for your continued support of our ministry.

You can pray for the work and ministry of CYC Waihola:- Contact us to sign up to our prayer mailing list

You can physically support us by:- Volunteering at our camps as a leader - its good fun and a great way to serve in the ministry of CYC. We are always after cabin leaders, cooks, speakers and even being a camp parent just helping around camp is of great importance.

- Volunteer to do some much needed work around our camp property. We never say no to an extra pair of hands. There is gardening, lawn mowing, cleaning and much much more that sometimes we just don’t get time to do ourselves.

You can financially support us by:- Donating to the ministry of CYC by cheque or internet banking (please put “donation” down in the reference field).

- Sponsoring a camper to attend a CYC camp. Many campers are unable to afford the camp fees that we set even though they are priced below cost. To sponsor a camper by contributing to the sponsorship fund please send us a cheque or use internet banking (please put “sponsorship” in the reference field)

Our bank account number is 03 0905 0937076 00.
