    ntroduction

Welcome to our NAGA campaignThanks for picking up this NAGA module for our

ngoing campaign called Skeletal Closets. Thiss the rst in a 30 module campaign that weve got

mapped out that will affect what happens in theCyberGeneration world.

When Vinny, from double exposure (www.dexpo-ure.com), came up to us and asked us to include

CyberGeneration in NAGA we were thrilled. Thiswould be a great way to get some stories out for

ur adoring fans *cough cough* that we thoughtwould be cool, but wouldnt really t into a typicalourcebook. Well, that was the original idea, it

morphed into something far greater then that andnstead of isolated stories weve got a cohesiveampaign thats going to be a while in resolvingeaving lots of room for strange and cool things toe happening.

ust a note before hand so you can understandwhat were trying to do. If you see text that is itali- ized then thats text that you should read to your

layers. If you see text thats bolded then thatsomething you as the GM should pay attention to.f something is both italicized and bolded thents something that the players should be told, andts important that they know it.

Plain old boring text? Thats just me rambling.

o, take up these pages and get ready to startigging through peoples closets because thesekulls need to be aired.

We did What? Now for a beginning this is go-ing to be pretty generic. Youshould decide if your playersare going to be together in asafe house, or still undercoverat home. Thats the rst thingyou have to pick. Remem-ber, this is designed to be

run at conventions with littleto no prep time, if youve gota group of people who havebeen playing Gen for a whilethen ignore this and stick towhat youve been doing.

Suit this to t where your play-ers are. If theyre at home,or at a safe house, then youcan lead off with the Indoors. If theyre outside, or not in acohesive group then use theOutdoorstext. Whatever works best for maxi-

mum effect. Were going togive you a few descriptions tot a few different situations.Pick one that suits you best,or just make a segue up. Aslong as it leads to the followinginformation.

This is Elsa Levi with a Net 54 news special report.

They cut to a commercial spot with Elsas face in the up-

per left corner while the add blares, Net 54 news special report brought to you by the makers of ice cold SC Caf, the only cold soycaf youd want to drink. The commercial ends as Elsas face takes up the whole screen.

Earlier today, Net 54 roving crews caught an attempted assassination of Yorinobu Arasaka, the often maligned younger brother of Arasaka American operations

president Kei Arasaka, earlier today near the recently renovated New Harbour Mall- plex. Yorinobu, the leader of one of the fast- est growing defense companies used to run the Steel Dragons a local gang but instead he has used his contacts and compatriots to build a cadre of crack defenders who have been known to take the tough assignments and come out on the other side with little wear and tear. No one knows for sure who was behind this assassination attempt; none of the regular groups have come forwards to claim responsibility for this attack. How- ever, authorities believe it was part of a newer terrorist group who are ghting for

IndoorsYou and you goboys and girls are all sitting around passing time by trying to nd if there is anything on the 500+ channels so wonderfully given to you by the powers that be.As per usual, nothing interesting is on. Its all the same old crap hashed out again and again. You can only see so many survival shows, lawyer shows, sit-coms, and adventurous mutant hunter teams before they all blur into that annoying buzz that is television. All of a sudden the chan- nel that youve stopped on cuts out and is replaced with the sight of Elsa Levi, Net 54s nighttime anchor ...

OutdoorsSomeone had to go get some snacks, sucks that you picked the longest straw and had to make the trek with a few of your compatriots, nobody walks the streets alone in Night City even in broad daylight.Thankfully youre on your way back with nothing bad to report other than the soy chips only came in sour cream and onion and not the barbe- cue that everyone wanted. You turn

the corner to walk down the street towards where everyone is when out of nowhere a virtual report pops up taking over all the streets and any billboard space, in case your neck was locked at a 65 degree angle. The face of Elsa Levi, a looker but really into the corpsicle world, begins her newscast ...

the rights of carriers of the Carbon Plague. Yorinobu Arasaka gave no statement after the at- tack and the authorities, other than they feel that

this new group is a dan- gerous and idiot group as all those who are victims of this deadly disease die within weeks of contractinthe disease as well as are merely placing all those around them in jeopardy. They also state that any terrorist members who wish to put themselves forwards for voluntary quarantine will be treated with the most care that theCDC can give them. To repeat, earlier today there was an assassination at- tempt on Yorinobu Arasakaccredited to unknown terrorist with a probably slant towards the Carbon Plague carriers. We will update you as soon as we get more information. This is Net 54 news, and remember, if it isnt Net 5... it isnt news.

If the players want to cutthis off and change thechannel let them. Thishas some information onthere as well as a goodexample of the ISAspropaganda machine.Vidiots should be droolinover this kind of mate-rial. The point of this wathat it is meant to galva-nize this cell into action. However, if they dont feethe need to do somethingabout this then you havea few prods you can useto get them moving.

    Prod 1: Edgerunnergroup

This option only works if you have an Edgerunner

in the group. Have he or she roll their Experi-ence with an easy (10) difculty. If they suc-ceed then you can give them the following historyabout Yorinobu Arasaka.

Read this to your Edgerunner if they succeed attheir roll:

You remember from the early years when Yori- nobu was a hard ass biker gang leader, the Steel Something or others. He was always trying to take on big brother and his old man whenever he had the opportunity, hated them for what they were doing and wanted to see them fall down, hard. He was always dodging as-

assination squads then, not a lot of love lost in hat family or they just took business seriously.

Though, you do have to wonder if old habits die ard and now instead of punking it out to get back t his family, hes decided to hit them where it urts, in their own turf. Just as quickly you won- er if they arent above sending out another hit quad to take out their wayward. Maybe they hould check it out, it could lead to something in he future for the Cabal.

Prod 2: The Eden Cabalf no one seems particularly motivated to donything about this, they need a swift kick in the

motivator by someone in the Eden Cabal. Be-ause we like her so much were going to letou use Spider Murphy as your contact withhe characters. Shes pretty no nonsense, andas developed a smoking habit over the years oftressing out over Rache Bartmoss and now the

    Eden Cabal.

A couple of hours after the newscast, and do-

ng whatever it is you wanted to do in that time,ou get a message encoded right from the Eden Cabal. You open it as soon as you can and this ather attractive, well for an old gal, woman in her

mid 40s ll up the v-term screen and start at you:

What do you think youre doing sitting round? This isnt some sort of cruise you unks are on. Now get up, weve got a job or you. Someone sent a hit after Yorinobu

Arasaka and its being blamed on the Cabal.Last thing we need is that sort of bad opinion preading. I need you juves to go uncover who rdered this hit against him, and expose them o the public.

We dont have any solid leads yet, but I do know his- Yorinobu is the naughty boy of the Arasaka amily, and more than once they tried to dust him.

Might be them, or another security company trying o clear up the playing eld a bit so dont be using

me a source in non of your homework, got it?

One more thing before you whine out into the reat blue yonder. Because of this recent scene, CorpSecs taken the opportunity to et a bit more frisky than usual, so keep a low role and dont expect much help. Theyll take ny excuse to bring out anything they can against s, and this is a perfect time for another sweep.

Theyve also got AIMO all over the net making ure that nothing critical to national secu- ity gets swapped between the ngers of any

Wizard of old cowboy out there. Ice is owing ast and hard so be doubly careful on the net, its arder to hide. So get your behinds out there and

maybe we can start something. Oh! And so you ont think Im not totally without heart ... good

Now you cant have them sit there and expecteverything to ow to them. Like any old fash-ioned detective theyve got to go looking forinformation. Here are some possible placeswhere they can get some information.

    One: Yogangs

Theyve got friends, right? Let them use them.If they use the pre-generated characters thenthere will be a list of contacts on there thatthey can get a hold of, if not you can make upsome NPCs on the spot. What well do is giveyou a list of yogangs that might have infor-mation on what happened. If they dont ask,or have that contact, then you dont have toworry about it. We also have written down thechance that this contact in question will haveknown about this information. Roll just 1d10 tond out if they know. Dont worry about havingthe players get all of the boded information, only one or two should get them going.

You can also vary the time it takes for themto get this information, since its been prettyrecent it shouldnt take more than 4 hours toget. Its hot stuff and no one has been aroundtrying to keep things quiet, yet.

MallBrats, 100%: Theres a creepy guy down at the New Harbour Mall has been meet- ing some shady people. Screw that, idiots been meeting shady people forever, theyve

just been more frequent as of late. Its the latest buzz around circles, they New Har- bour people want him out, he cramps their style too much.

Guardians, 50%: There was an APB put out for a Jackson Smitts twenty minutes after Yorinobu was almost geeked. Dont know if its worth looking into, but they know who he is so he probably has at least a criminal SIN.

Vidiots, 70%: I was right there at the scene! Dude, got some great footage of this guy in the shadows with a long rie. Thought he could get away but my camera spied him out good, wanna pic? Itll cost ya 10 EB. (Picture is of a large Native Man, clean shaven with short cropped black hair).

Rad, 80%: So I heard Yorinobu was busy trying to get some of the yogangs in the area to start working with him. Not for him, he had some kind of deal going down where he just wanted to know what the Boys in Black were up to.Straight info for cash deal, I mean guys got a history of taking nothing from the corps so we gure hes straightedge, you know? Some- thing we can use to take on the machine, one huge cog at a time yo.

. MegaViolent, 50%: Hey, yeah. Theres this guy working at some sort of CompuHut,cant remember where though, got chased out pretty quickly. Skeezy kinda guy, like a MallBrat mixed with a Squat with a corpsies mental, you know? Made my skin crawl and stuff, which aint easy. Said he was looking for some muscle to teach someone a lesson, Im more into random stuff than lessons.

Speaking of which ... (Megas and friends mayattack the PCs or you can make it a bit of a

joke to throw them off. Whatever you want, really, just tailor it to the group.)

Any Other Yogang, 20%: My bro, hes one of those new Corpsicles, you know the ones not on loan from some crazy corp, and the clean up job was kinda spotty. It helps that he speaks Japanese, they make you learn at least one other language in Corp Cop school, but they werent as thorough as they should have been, and my bro got in deep by asking why.

Two: WitnessesAnother area that the PCs mightwant to sift for information is thesite itself. There are a bunchof people on the street -- foodvendors, shop owners -- whoare witnesses to the shootingthat happened not that long ago. There is one problem, not manypeople saw what went on. Ithappened quickly and inside acorporate zone so the playersare not going to get anythingout of these witnesses. If theplayers decide to do this routelet them sit around for a bit andmaybe pick up some of the fol-lowing bits of information. Fromrandom people.

It was so crazy, with that shot going off, I thought I was in a movie for a second. I wanna talk to my lawyer if youre gonna be asking questions! I could have sworn I heard an AV taking off. Why are you kids asking this again? I know that all the commotion was that way, but the bullet must have come from the other direction. Well, Betty, shes the new intern at the water cooler nothing special and not a brain in her head if you know what I mean, said that she ... I saw a man, dark skin, dark hair, real native American fellow, walk out of that building over there with a suitcase. Moved really quick too. Every ofcer was speaking Japanese to each other, perfect English to me though.

Below is a map of the site where the shoot-

ing took place. Heres a breakdown of what wentwhere.

A: This is where the bullet landed, the hole in the cement visible to the naked eye. You can still see the old CorpSec security tape torn and haning from the side of the building. Everyone is giving this spot a lot of space.

B: This is the building from across the waythat someone might mention. Only read thisdescription if youve handed out the fact thatthe bullet probably came from here or one ofyour players gures it out.

You see the tall business center from across the street has a few opened windows in the early August heat. Its the perfect spot for the bullet to have come from and youre sure that the Corp Goons would have though of it too.

C: This is Megans Flower Shop. This storefront has a large glass window, perfect for seeing what happened during the shooting.

D: Cools Convenience: This Convenience store doubles as a eatery serving the best in pre-pack- aged food this side of Night City. Not many people here, but the clerk always has a clear line

of sight to the street, safetey precautions after all.E: First Bank of Militech: A bank with heavily shaded windows. Not much would get through here, either bullets or sight.

Ideally, your players will want to search the differ-ent buildlings. Were not going to give you mapsfor the because thats where they should get theirrandom bits of information.

o matter what oor you check out. Though here is one oor, the 6th, that seems to be n a greater state of disarray than the others.

Almost as if someone has been through here lready and tried to make it look normal again.

Now if the characters check the 6th oor any morehen you should have them make get a clue rolls.f they roll a Difcult (20) Get a Clue or an Aver-ge (15) Scrounge check they can nd a businessard in the bathroom, its got black job written onhe back. The business card for Roger Barbett, usiness machine consultant for Sourcing in the

    New Harbour Mall.

Three: The NetYour characters can attempt to run the net butAIMO is out in force. There is a 50% chance thathe players will run into one, even if they arentoing anything suspicious. At this point in timeheres really nothing for them to nd unless theyeel like taking a crack at CorpSecs datafort withll this crazy security running around.

f they do, feel free to let them have it. Any onerazy enough to try should get spanked really, re-lly hard.

    chapter 2

    Behind Door Number ...

Option One: Meet the BarbettThe scene is set in the New Harbour Mall, ifthe players have gone through one of the twopaths (or basically asked anyone) then theyshould have gotten the information they need.If they only got one or two pieces then youcan supply them in here. There is one small

problem there are three different tech shops alllocated in different parts of the mall. You cangive them this information if one of your play-ers is smart enough to check the directory.

    The three stores are:

Techno Hut Level 1 East EndSourcing Level 3 West EndVirtual Video Level 5 North End

Barbett works at Sourcing which wevealso highlighted above. Now, unless theplayers managed to get the business card

theyre going to have to go searching each ofthese locations. When they leave one storeto go to another store hit them with a randomencounter in the mall. Weve provided a fewfor you below.

    1. MallBrats: Youre on their turf, and yourenew. That means fresh meat, be preparedto be looked at because of your clothes, oryour hair style, and if they nd you lackingyoull hear whispers up and down the mallabout how stupid and lame the charactersare. Also a few Mallers will try to sell theplayers some defected gear, or swipe what

they have on them. This shouldnt be all atonce, just enough to keep the players on akind of edge.

    2. Guardians: If the players are new to the malltheyre going to be raising ags for thosewho are looking for trouble. Doubly so ifyouve got any Goths, GoGangers or Mega-Violents in your group. They may shadowthe group, again making for the paranoia, and spring on them if they do somethingsuspicious. Or they can confront the char-acters outright and have them demand toknow what theyre doing here.

    3. Arcorunners: They need the players help incleaning out their passages. Mall Securityhas decided to deal with a few of their tun-nels and passageways by leaving a few oftheir own traps for the Arcos to deal with.Do you have time to help them clear outwhat could possibly be dangerous traps?Or are you going to annoy a group of yo-gangers looking for help.

Note, these are examples. If you want tocome up with your own encounters as they tryto nd the right electronics store then go rightahead, but these are the ones we felt would

When your players nally make it intoSourcing, read them the following text.

You walk into Sourcing: Elec- tronique Bou- tique and see a somewhat over- weight, balding man with two large wet spots underneath his armpits even though the whole Mallplex is air conditioned in the august heat.He notices the group of you walking towards his store. You look like youre browsing, look- ing for that one piece of tech you need to nish your homework and he pointedly ignores you.

    CAN I RUN THE NETNOW!?

Yes, nows a goodtime to be runningthe net. Now youhave some sort of lead intothis place and the computeris right there. While the restof the players are keepingBarbett busy he can runthe computer, or they canwait until later and try to getsome of the information offof the computer. Theresonly a few white IC pro-grams, detection and thelike, since theres nothingincredibly sensitive on thiscomputer. It does do thepayroll, but with no connec-tion to the main ofce theydont feel the need to layerthe ice.

The net of the computer isa huge computer chip withthe circuits being the dif-ferent areas. Most of themshould just be games andstuff people do on their breaks. There is oneroom that has all the important information andin there the player will nd Barbetts home ad-dress and phone number.

Barbett is an old xer who wasnt goodduring the Cyberpunk era and has sunkto a position of customer service repre-sentative at the local Sourcing Electron-ics Boutique. It galls him that there aresome juves who are his immediate su-

periors and because of that he doesntrespond well to anyone under the ageof twenty asking him questions. Hesgruff, terse and uncaring.

If the players want to get anythingout of him it will take either a Difcult(20) Good Guy roll, or a N. Impos-sible (30) Fearless Leade r roll. If youmanage to pull one or the other, oreven both, all hell say is that someguy named Tanaka hired him to getsomeone to do a job. The only otherthing hell say is that he got someguy by the name of Jackson to dothe job. He wont say what job itwas, or anything else that will obvi-ously incriminate him, and the play-ers should be able to tell he isnttelling them the whole truth. If theydont automatically assume that heslying to them, which shouldnt reallybe in doubt, you can give them thehint with an Average (15) Get A Clueroll.

Option One - A: Barbetts PlaceIf they get the information from the Net, orfrom another source (such as the yoganngs

that have harassed them) theycan conceivably make it toBarbetts apartment while hesstill at work. Or, if they followhim they can try to corner himor wait until he leaves for worktomorrow in order to ransackhis place.

This is a good place for theGM to play up the yogangsthat the PCs have run intoin the mall. If you think theyhavent been subtle enough, start sending Mall Security, which also happens to beCorpSec. Interesting howthat works.

    Heres the breakdown ofBarbetts Apartment.

A: You see a grimy door with the number 1815 above a card lock located next to the door.

The front door to the apartmentis locked with a simple cardlock, a wizard or anyone with asmart decryptor can get in.

When the players get insidethe apartment read the follow-ing description:

You wonder why the guy even bothered with the card lock.Theres nothing here but junk a SMASH addict already has.

B: The Kitchenette looks like it could use a good heavy duty industrial cleaner. Empty, half eaten pre-packs litter what little counterspace there is and the mould growing and some of the soy product is making anyone who comes

near it slightly ill.C: There is a desk and a blow up materess taking up the little space Barbett had left.Theres a V-Term on the desk which has seen better days and a few pieces of crumpled up paper lying about.

    AD

    B

    C

If the players look at the paper: Two numbers written on a crumpled piece of paper on top of the desk.

f they make a V. Difcult Get A Clue (25) : You nd a dirty gun underneath the airmatress. Its a medium autopistol (AR 5) and it is loaded. It has

ne clip and 5 bullets in the clip.

EARLY ARRIVALBarbett may come home early because he hates

is job. Hell nd any excuse to get out of there, ncluding made up ones. In fact theres a 50%hance that hell nd some reason to leave and goome, if the players take too long or ponder over

what to do with the clue you can have him popn and demand what the hell the characters areoing in his house. If he can hell try to get to theutopistol underneath his mattress, if that fails or ifhe characters end up putting him at a huge disad-antage hell run this speech by the players.

Look, okay, ne ... the guy youre looking for is ither Jackson or Tanaka. One of them ordered he hit, the other guy was the one who pulled the rigger. Jackson lives with his family just North of he the combat zone, along Jameson Avenue, and have no idea how to get ahold of Tanaka, he got hold of me.

f the players dont push muchmore, theyll not get another peep

ut of him. If they have some wayo put a huge threat down imme-iately on him, like the autopistol, big burley megaviolent threaten-

ng to castrate him, or a rad withwhole bunch of new dirt and thebility to use it, theyll get this extraid bit of screaming from him.

Okay, okay! Stop pushing! Tana- as got an e-mail address. Its [email protected], hes ot a drop box at The F1op House,

Big Boy on Campus. Thats it, I wear!

This is really all he knows. Thelayers can push for more, butothing will come out. Other thanwhine, whimper or cry of painepending on how you push.

Option 2: Jacksonackson and his family, which isis nomad family so its got quite

a lot more than his two kids, havetaken over an abandoned building. There is a group of 4 Tribals guardingthe door and while one is busy run-ning up to inform the family the other

three will do their best to keep the players atthe door until further information comes up.

TALKING TO JACKSONJackson is a large Native American man whohas seen a lot go down, he hasnt totally givenup on trying to ght the corps but hes still verymuch living in the past. If he nds out that thecharacters are from the Eden Cabal he acts

just as suspicious as if they were corps, he

only trust them slightly more than any authoritygure.

    Describe this to the players:

You walk up to the 5th oor of a 6 story build- ing, the smell of old urine and smoke damage ll your lungs a you realize this place has been lying empty for a while save for the occasional wino with a crowbar he hadnt hawked yet for booze. You hear the sounds of a few people wandering around, not many, and a baby cry out for food. You enter a room and theres this Native American man sitting with his back

turned slightly towards you and his gaze is kept towards the street. He has his hand on a large rie and he doesnt look too concerned about the group of you standing there.

He takes a drag off of his cigar and asks, So,what do you punks want?

Jackson will notgive the playersanything un-less they givehim somethingin return. This iswhat hell take inexchange for infor-mation:

Any foodstuff theplayers may haveon them.A promise thattheyll try to takeTanaka down.Any good gearthey may have onthem.Any offer to helpthem scroungefor anything theyneed.

An offer of any ofthese will get Jack-son to talk to them,he may not trustthe Cabal but theimmediate needs ofhis family come rst,

thats why he took the assassination job in therst place even though it went against his bet-ter judgement.

If the players approach the doormenacingly, or ask too many dumbquestions (Hey, does the guy whotried to shoot an Arasaka live here?counts as a dumb question) theyre

going to get a rude surprise as thereis gun shots red at them from an up-per story window. This isnt a shootto kill scenario, more of a make emdance feel.

If the players approach respectfully(yeah right) or carefully they may ac-tually get up and get a chance to talkto Jackson. This is of course afterthe Tribals have gone through theirquestioning of the characters.

Examples: So, what brings a bunch

of concrete dwellers out here? Pol-luting or rumbling?I think I might of heard of Jackson, what do you sleezy mud suckerswant with someone like that? So, who sent you?Hey, cute chicka/chicko looking forsomething better than those steelhumpers youve got next to you?

    .If he talks:

Look, theres this guy named Barbett who hired me for the hit. He kept bragging about this guy named Tanaka who saw something in him, blah, blah, blah. What- ever. The real guy you want is Tanaka and I did some legwork on him. Turns out he works for the old Dragon. I got conrma- tion after the shot, I had to deal with an Arasaka hit squad, pegged two of em and ran off I did. Anyway, found out where he lived but security was too tight for some- one like me walking in so if you wanna deal with him thats ne by me. Hes over in a re-acquired part of the combat zone. Its about 2 klicks south of the Casino. New high rise, new research facility in room 2301, the hollyhock logo all over. Now get out of here punks Ive got a family to take care of.

    chapter 3

The Man with the PLIf the players came straight from Barbetts placethen they can nd Tanakas address and apart-ment number (2301) from his phone number ande-mail address. If the players come from Jacksontheyll hopefully have gotten the info the need fromhim.

    Description of building:

Tanakas buildilng looks decidely out of place. Its a tall steel and glass highrise new and pristine surrounded by a pit of broken buildings and half demolished structures. The high concrete wall surrounding the building has a front gate that is open in deance of the surroundings.

The buildings lobby has that we just built this smell mixed with the bright shinyness of some- thing that has just been put together. There is a consierge on duty sitting at her desk watching what are probably camera feeds, while two people seem to be working on the elevator.

The consierge will ask what the characters are do-ing there, they can give Tanakas name (he hasntleft any instructions on not letting people up) and ifthey can give the right apartment number (again,2301) then shell let them through. She should benot too suspicious, this is just an Arasaka subsid-iary so the average Joe doesnt know whos actu-ally running the show. Heck, most of the employ-ees dont know who theyre really working for.

Two ways to get up, the stairs or the elevator.

    Elevator:

You walk up to see two men currently working on the elevator. There is a virtual sign that oats all around them with the words OUT OF SERVICE: ETA 30 minutes scrolling through it.

Now, if the players want to wait for the elevatorthey can. If they do then Tanaka will show upand probably go up the elevator with the play-ers. They probably wont know its him, they donthave a picture after all, until they both try to go forthe same door.

Stairs:If the players decide to take the stairs, it is 23

oors after all so they might not, make themtired when they get up there. Well, those withlow Jockstuff will be the ones breathing heavily.Heres a chart to help determine how much timethey have depending on the groups Jockstuff andMove. Something to keep in mind while they casethe joint.

When you manage to get it open you see a dimly it foyer that has a few pairs of shoes and a coat ack with a few ragged coats.

C:A rather large itchen is found inside his apartment. There snt much in it, a few nopened pre-packs Yon-Gon Savoury oy Loaf and Ichiban ushied rice and tuff) which are still ood but otherwise his is rather unre-

V-Term to translate it with an Average (15) Ar-ane check. If they can manage to read whatsyped you can read them this:

You nally get a grasp on whats being said nd you begin to read the following e-mail hats still on Tanakas computer.

    Tanaka-san,

Do not be alarmed over the failure of your ob- ective. We did not expect it to succeed. What roubles us is your inability to make sure that ny loose threads are burned from the suit.

Any further failure on your part will result in an mmediate demotion and expulsion from your urrent residences back to the barracks for ow payed employees.

    Tanaka Arrives

If the players take too long then Tanaka canshow up and surprise the players. Depend-ing on how they entered the apartment theycan get him in different Tanaka styles. If theymanaged to sneak in they get the surprised

Tanaka, ready for the jump to be droppedright on him. However, if the players bashedtheir way in then theyve got armed and readyTanaka whos been expecting his demotionwho will then be surprised to nd a bunch ofpunks in his apartment and ready for the jumpto be dropped on him.

If the players show up with Tanaka, acciden-tally most likely, then they can try to get himto let them in so they can talk with a Difcult(20) Little Angel roll. If not, they can alwaysgo back to the old stand by of force. However, the quieter they do things the better.

Once inside with Tanaka the players can try toget him to talk. He knows that if he messes upany more hes going to be a witness that willneed some silencing. If the players promiseto help him get out of his situation hell tell theplayers everythign they need to know aboutYorinobus assassination and Takashi, the per-son assigned to organize the assassination.

If the players place nice they have 5 min-utes to get Tanaka out of his apartmentbefore security arrives to secure the situ-ation. Use the template at the end of themodule for the guards that show up. Theirmain mission is to secure Tanaka, stop-ping people is secondary so the guards aremore likely only take a few shot at them.

If they dont save TanakaMany things happen if they dont save Tanaka. One is that any information he had on his com-puter will be wiped in 20 minutes, so all thoseenterprising wizards will have to do their bestto grab what info they can from his computer.

Tanaka from his apartment and bring him to

a safe house (which hell insist upon), hell bedead within an hour and all the required datawill be purged from the system. It really comesdown to their approach: Teams that are morein your face will have the option of doingthings that way- more dangerous, but moreexciting. Teams that are less intrusive will havea safer go of it.

    ARASAKA:

Once the juves have found some sort ofconnection to the Arasaka shooting and thisresearch facility, it should be obvious that thesecurity knows somethings up. If they man-age to get on one of the tours (an incrediblyeasy feat for anyone with a v-term, neverminda wizard), they can get access to the building, with a guided tour. If they go that route, itdbe daytime and although security would bethere, they wouldnt expect much from a packof kids with an aunt or uncle, or they could

just blend in with a school tour. Harder to getto Takahashis ofce, but a pair of young juvesplaying hide and seek, or a young couplesneaking off for some alone time would makefor some interesting little angel checks.

    chapter 4

    File tim

Hopefully by this point in time the characters havea sense that they should probably return to Tana-kas Arasaka facility since theres a connectionbetween that facility and the assassination attempton Yorinobu Arasaka.

Now instead of the living buildling thats attachedto the ofce building, the juves are gonna hit the

ofce buildling to try and scam the les that theyneed to maybe shed some light on what hap-pened with the assassination attempt.

The map for the facility is on the next page andthe breakdown of what goes on inside the ofcestarts here and continues onto the next page. There will be two desciptions, one for any attemptto get in during the day or an attempt during theevening.

    FLOOR 1

A: Main entrance to the ofce section.DAY: You walk past the tinted polymer glass doors and see the security desk and see 4 lightly armed security guards, all with CORPSEC written large in front on their shirts that you assume are armoured. The security ofcer at the desk smiles warmly and asks,

Anything I can help you with today?

NIGHT: The doors are locked with a passkey (ThiefStuff 20, Suburban Ninja 25). Inside the security desk has no one present, but the secu-

rity cameras in both corners can see easily in his place. There is a 60% chance of a security of-cer noticing the characters on an untamperedcamera (6 or lower on a D10).

BOTH: The second door, the entrance to thefoyer of the buildling is locked and only opened bya button on the back of the security desk.

    B:Security Room

This is where the off duty guards stay, as well asthe head of the security detail who is monitoringall the security screens. The door here require a security card to access ei-ther door. Attempting to try to break into this roomhowever is harder (ThiefStuff 25, Suburban Ninja30), but it still can be done if you have the properequipment.

DAY: There are 8 security guards here. 2 wathc-ing the screen and the rest of them on call in caseof an emergency.

NIGHT: There are at least 4 securityguards here at all times. Two moni-toring the screens, two waiting to go

    n their rounds.

nside the room there is one bench, that faces theoors, where they can see all those who enter theoom and

s well as the bank of screens across the wall.

f they havent met Takashi, now would be a goodmoment to have him in this room if, for some rea-on, they decide to break in.

    C: Bathrooms

The bathrooms are gendered, and there is a smallwindow for each room. The stalls are made ofhin aluminum, so they dont provide any sort ofrotection against any bullets.

There are two cameras in the girls washroom, theuys washroom has none.

DAY: There is a good chancehat if you use the girls wash-oom that youre being spied on.

This makes for a greater chancef recognition if the players areaught later. It makes it hard toneak in from this side.

    D: Foyer

A large open space room done n the black marble that most arge corporations tend to fa- our. It gives them that sleek, owerful, better than you look hat they try to exhude. Great arge pillars hold up the ex- ended roof, it seems to go up at east two oors. There is a desk t the far end next to the bank of elevators.

n order to work the elevatorsou need to use the desk. Youave to input the oor that you wish to use andhen an elevator comes down and takes you tohat oor.

E: Security DeskThere are two security desks in the buildling, which may seem odd but when you consider that

ne is for outside entrances and one is for inte-ior entrances. The living quarters are connectedhrough I and so, in case someone attempts to

walk through the lesser guarded entrance.

tandard procedure is you tell the security ofcerwhat oor you wish to enter, show a proper pass

key and then they call the elevator foryou.

DAY: There will be a security guardat the desk and unless you have the

proper passkey. Without it they will send youback to your room, or back outside and gettingpast the front security guard will be worse afterthey get reprimanded for letting the players in.

It is a V-Term so a wizard could activate itremotly, they just would have to make surethat the security ofcer wasnt looking since itwould be rather visible to whoever was at theconsole.

NIGHT: No one is there, and the desk is openas long as the PCs can turn it on, wait for thesystem to boot up and then activate the eleva-tors without the security guards catching them.

    F:Emergency Exit

The emergency exit open out onto the parkinglot. They are alarmed at all times, and even

though most employees knowthat someone tries to sneak in at least once ortwice a week.

G: ElevatorsThese are the elevators for the ofce sectionof the buildling.

The smooth steel doors open into smooth steel shafts. These doors are polished to the point where they reect the oor around them and if it wasnt for the fact that they visibly go up, it would be hard to believe that doors were actually there.

DAY: All four of the elevators are in constantuse during the day. There is a security guard

at the desk and at both ends of the elevator

NIGHT: There is no one around the doors andthe elevators do not open unless the V-term atthe security desk.

    H: Stairwell

There are fteen oors on the ofce tower. The stairwell goes up to the top oor, includingthe roof.

DAY: During the day the only security featuresin the stairwell are the security cameras.

NIGHT: There are no security features on therst oor of the stairwell. They want to let peo-ple inside so they can trap them. On all theadditional levels there is a virtual ngerprintcovering the door. As soon as someone enteris, after 5 seconds a security door slams shutand an alarm is sounded. Any security agentgets a virtual messageof when and where thebreech occured. Oncethey recieve this mes-sage all security teamsare supposed to maketheir way immediately tothe location in question.

    I: Entrance to the LivingQuarters

Tucked away behind theelevators is the entranceto the living area of thecomplex. It only openswith a correct livingquarters passkey, andthen depending on thelevel of passkey a secu-rity detail will meet them.Too low and it requires asearch.

Floor 7There are six oors below this oor that are100% similar to this oor layout. Floors inbuildlings tend to repeat themselves andthis one is no exception. Floor 7 is whereTakashis ofce is located so were focusing onthis oor.

If the players decide that they are going to doa oor by oor search, either because theydont have Takashis ofce number, or theythink this is some kind of dungeon crawl heresa run down of what ofcices are on what oor.

Floor 3: Public RelationsFloor 4: MarketingFloor 5: Visual Graphic and AdvertisingFloor 6: Concert packaging and promotion

Again, well explain what happens during the dayor the night.

A: This is the secretarial ofce for Takashi. Thereare a lot of virtual terms all over the place.DAY: The room is a standard, sterile ofce space. A cheery secretary sits in front of a desk with the latest v-term active in front of her. Shes currently typing something that the players cant see, unless they employ devious means. Along the walls there are virtual ling cabinets that are in the boring old fashioned style, really early 2ks.Youd think with all the virtual technology available theyd be a bit more creative.

The virtual le cabinets are large storage contain-ers that hold and access any les that have beeninputted in them. However, in order to accessthem you have to input the correct vocal code aswell as a virtual keypad code. If both are correct

then the chosen le is accessed.

There is a dothat opens upinto Takashiofce. Hisname is ona physicalplaque pasteon his door.

NIGHT: Thdarkend roomseems blank except for a desk.

The charactecan nd andactivate theV-cards thatare all overthe room. Itrequires andifcult GetAClue roll to them. All yoneed to acti-

    vate them ispress them.

B: DAY: Welcome to Takashis Ofce. Front door is behind you, polished desk in front of you, a couple of photographs on the desk, an active V term, some more of those virtual le cabinets and a very angry Takashi behind the desk. He stands up, looking rather angrily, pulling a heavy pistol from under his desk. Enjoy your ight!

As you can tell, Takashi wasnt ex-pecting a whole pile of juves walkinginto his ofce. He wont take tookindly to it, hopefully they can talktheir way out of it.

NIGHT: Welcome to Takashis Ofce. Front door ehind you, polished desk in front of you. The ights are off, and there is a rather large red light linking in the upper corner. There are a few pic- ures of family on the desk. Other than that, the oom is rather blank.

Okay, there is a security camera in this room, butt is not linked to the security system. It runs on alosed circuit loop and is stored on his v-term inhis ofce.

Now, for the nding of things:

. The V-Term computer is located inside theesk. There is a button that opens up the desk tohow the v-card. Finding it requires an AVERAGE

    GetAClue roll.

On the computer there are a lot of les that areomewhat incriminating, however they are all inapanese however. Unless someone can readapanese (DIFFICULT Schoolin roll) the les areoing to be rather difcult to determine if they aresable.

f they manage to get some les you can givehem a few random les. Some sort of payroll

les, a few family photos. A le named NKG227s well as a le named YAA227. These are all inapanese so they wont know, unless theyve gotomeone who can read it, whats in them. Makeure that they get a few other les as well, randomlaces and people. Another le on the players

would make for a bit of spooky intrigue.

. There is a gun somwhere. This is a little hardero nd since its not under the desk, but in a hid-en slot behind one of the drawers. Fidning thisakes a V. DIFFICULT GetAClue roll. If they do

nd it, its a heavy pistol (DC 5) with 10 bullets int.

Theres nothing else to really nd in this ofce ofny importance. The pictures are of his family,

wife and small son, theyre playing at a park andhe background is full of green.

    C: Open area

Normally this is just an open area, but following

ormal corporate procedure they have lled itwith mobile walls to make up cubicles. This hasecome the cubicle farm, watch out for the zombieatties they really make a stink.

    D: The Hallway

This is a standard hallway with the standard lowile carpet that hurts your feet if you walk for tooong on it. The door into the security ofce re-

quires a passkey at all times to getin.

    E: Washrooms

Gendered washrooms are on every oor.Unlike the bottom ones, there are no smallwindows to get in. However, like the rst oorwashrooms there is a camera inside the girlswashroom.

    F: Elevators

The bank of elevators. The button sends youonly back down to the rst oor, there is noother option other than the emergency screen, which again sends a message down to thesecurity desk.

    G: Stairwell

Same set of stairs as before, there is an alarmthat is only activated at night, its the samealarm mentioned on the rst oor.

SegueSo now what happens? Well, ideally the PCscan get in and out with the minimum of fussand muss. The chances of this happening arehonestly very slim.

What were going to do is ask people to sendin what happened when they ran this gameand well put it in here. Send any stories and

information youve done from this adventure [email protected], add your name andcity and well keep adding to this section.

Once they get out theyre going to need a fewplaces to go. Here are some suggestions ofplaces they could head over to.

    1. Safe House : If they have their own meetingplace then this is probably the rst and bestplace for them to go.

    2. Cabal Safe House: If they dont have asafe house and dont want to go home, which

is a good plan, they can use their cabal con-tacts to get themselves a temporary safehouse.

    3. Go Home : Well, if they want to they cango home. This might be something that theymight do if things tend to go well on the mis-sion end. They might think its safe to gohome if they think they got off easy. Nothingsays, utter fear and paranoia than a visit froma darksuit on your own front door.

    4. A Friends House: If they dont want to gohome, and dont have a safe house they can

impose on their friends. This will make thePCs really popular when a few Arasaka Corp-sec agents show up at the door.

Whats on the Files? The les that the characters stole will takesome time to decode and to decrypt. Oncethey are put through this is what is on them.

YAA227: This le contains some informationon payments made to one Barbett for Acquisi-tion services. There is nothing in here thatactually links Takashi with the assassinationattempt. Well, anything concrete at any rate.

NKG227: This le is the largest le Takashihad. Inside was a bunch of schematics detail-ing what looks like cybernetic arms and legs.A DIFFICULT Schoolin roll will tell them thatthis is similar, but not exact, to reverse engi-neering documents.
