    CVT Symposium on Dual Education

    There are more than two hundred enthusiastic attendees from different institutions, companies and youth participated in CVT Symposium Event, taken place on 11 Feb 2017 at UMFCCI, Yangon. Genius Coffee maker sponsored their best pro-duced coffee to the attendees of the event. Prof. Dr. U Aung Tun Thet first presented a short power point on the

    dual apprenticeship education fol-lowed by his encouragements to the private sector to involve and invest in it for the future of young people of Myanmar and for the sustainable development of their organizations in ethical way. The chairman of UMFCCI also explained the importance of pri-vate sectors involvement in TVET and the future TVET activities by UMFCCI.

    The delegate of MSP Caterpillar Co. Ltd also gave the overview of their program with CVT and their success in this apprenticeship system. CVT respective profession heads then presented vocational education cur-riculums. The meeting ended with the encouraging remarks of CEO and then group took photos together.

    CVT General Education Department organized CVT Library reopening event on 30 Jan 2017 at 6th Floor MRCS Building. There were almost a hundred apprentices joining the event. The aim is to support the ap-

    prentices to enhance their knowledge and to improve their reading passion. CEO highlighted in her speech about the power of knowledge by reading and learning and to take advantage of having a library with many kinds of

    books, fictions, non-fictions, manage-ment handbooks, profession related books donated by Swiss Experts, Eng-lish language books , short novel etc dedicated to youth.

One of the highlights is about the gradu-ation achievement of our youngsters E4Y students where most have suc-cessfully chosen their future with CVT apprenticeship education. Con-sequently another highlight is the

    achievement of our Final Year Ap-prentice who positioned her country in the top ten level in the World’s Cooking Competition for the first time in Hotel industry as well as for CVT School. Needless to mention about our CVT Graduation Ceremony that was held at The Strand on 1st April 2017. All 128 graduates, 24 In-Company Trainers graduates and the whole CVT management team would like to thank again to the event spon-

    sor, NEPAS (National Energy PUMA Aviation Services). We will present it in more details, at the coming weeks. This is the last newsletter issue for 2016-2017 school year. In coming school year 2017-2018, we would like to present you our news with a new design, short and lively one.Wishing you all enjoy a forthcoming Water Festival.

    Education Fair at Tatmadaw Hall

    Myanmar Young Entrepreneur As-sociation organized its 10th job fair for three days between Jan 13 to 15, 2017 where CVT was invited to participate. There were interesting

    programs, including lucky draw for the audiences. As part of symposium dialogues between successful entre-preneurs and youths, as well as job seekers and job searchers, CVT got an

    opportunity to introduce about Ap-prenticeship Education to all public audiences. Thanks to the whole CVT management team, PR and teachers team for their active contribution.

    Commercial Assistant Exam Oral Test

    CA apprentices took compulsory ORAL TEST as part of their final exam

    on 2nd and 3rd March 2017. This is to evaluate their speaking, listening and understanding skills based on their professional knowledge that they have accomplished at their chosen profession. This also allows them to demonstrate their ability to gener-ate the new ideas and to be able to communicate with foreign language speakers. Thanks to Ms. Luzia and Ms. Petra Kuhl for their contributions as the external examiners, together with CVT English Language Teachers.

    Cabinet Maker Profession Apprentices Excursion

    All CM Apprentices made visits of wood factories on 1st Feb 2017. CM teachers, PR and CVT Certified In-structor Project leader went along with the apprentices. The first visit started with No.10 Furniture Fac-tory. The factory responsible person warmly welcomed the group and explained them about the wood pro-

    duction process and guidelines. The visit ended with a tour around the factory and introduction with the team.The group proceeded to the second factory, National Wood where the MD welcomed and served tea and snacks to the group. After the pre-sentation, the group toured around

    the factory followed by an interest-ing Q&A section. Finally the group moved to the last factory called “Idea Wood-smith” where the apprentices learnt different things of wood finish-ing products. Overall, the appren-tices leant about the wood cutting, processing, finishing and observed modernized different machines.

    Electrician Profession Apprentices Excursion

    30 Electrician Apprentices visited two electrical factories on 4th Feb 2017. Electrician teachers and PR fol-lowed the trips with them. The first visit started with Super Mega and the

    factory GM U Aung Kyaw Moe and the factory manager U Kyaw Kyaw warmly welcomed the group and made a power point presentation of the factory and showed around the factory manufacturing process.The group proceeded to another factory, M.E.P.C at Shwe Pyi Thar industrial zone. The MD U Ye Htut welcomed and served tea/coffee and snacks. After the presentation, the group toured around the factory fol-lowed by an interesting Q&A section.Overall, the apprentices learnt about the electrical knowledge in real work-

    place. They were very happy about the trip and exchanged of under-standings on learning experiences and went back to school around 5 pm.

    Hotel & Gastronomy Training Company Meeting Day

    HG Training Company Day was held on 18 Jan 2017. This is also part of

    annual evaluation of HG programs and apprentices taken by CVT Train-ing Companies together with CVT related profession head and teach-ers. There are almost ten hotels from different standards actively partici-pated. The discussions included the feedback collection from hotels, and presenting few success stories of HG alumni.     Commercial Assistant Training Company DayCVT- Commercial Assistant Profession held “CA Training Company Meeting Day” on 21st January 2017 in the morning at CVT school center which was mainly in-vited to the Training Companies including local enterprise attended by their respon-sible person discussed about current situ-ation of CA apprentices and additional purpose of teaching curriculum. CVT CEO and CRO giving welcoming speech to the training companies following with both individual and group discussion.

    Summer is the hottest season, fall-ing between winters and raining in Myanmar. At the summer, the days are longest and the nights are short-est. The date of the beginning of summer varies according to climate. For the Myanmar students, summer would be the happiest time because of having a long holiday. Before doing so, they have to first sit for the final exam. The same applies to CVT ap-prentices from five professions, they sat final examination in both theory

    and practical after the three year du-ration of the school (2014-2017) just before the summer holiday. February and March are the exam periods for them every year. We all wish them “All the Best” not only for exam but also for their life long.Cabinet Maker Profession – 8 ap-prentices participated in the final exam on 13 to 18 February 2017. The exam subject this time was cre-ating a complete project to be done in 18 hours. CM teachers and the

    Head of Profession carefully assessed the exam, knowledge part, skills and quality of the product produced.

    Electrician Profession Exam Practical Training Course

    43 EL apprentices took final PTC Exam at the new PTC place, Pinlone Hall. Each apprentice must work

    practically individually on PLC pro-gramming, wire installation, light-ing installation, Motor Control, Fault

    finding and measuring, Plug-in Tasks, followed by ORAL TEST about EL pro-fessional knowledge.

    HG final practical exam holds at Le Planteur Restaurant

    19 HG apprentices took final PTC Exam at Le Planteur Fine Dining Res-taurant on 22 March 2017. Special guests from CVT Training Companies in the field of hotels and restaurant businesses and CVT management

    team were invited to experience food and the service in the real fine dining atmosphere. Welcoming and Greeting guests, Taking Order cor-rectly, Service sequence, Preparing

    and Cooking the food, Care for hy-giene and safety etc..were judged by the HG Cuisine teacher Daw Ni Ni and Service teacher U Lwin Ko Oo, as well as by the head of HG profession U Yee Htun.

    Metal Worker Profession Final Exam Practical Training Course

    13 MW Final Year apprentices took final PTC Exam at the new PTC place, Hlaing Township. They have to pro-

    duce a metal machined component by turning according to the given drawing within the allocated time frame. The product must meet the

    tolerance given by the drawing. They also have to make a hexagon from a round bar by filing.

    Education for Youth (E4Y) Graduation School Awarding Ceremony

    E4Y Graduation Ceremony was held at E4Y Sport Hall for the first time in-house on 27 March 2017. 18 youths were handed over the completion certificates. There was also award-ing to (12) outstanding students from 1st to 4th year and (33) 100% punctual students in 2016 – 2017 school year. The two E4Y alumni; Mg Zaw Min Htun (currently working at Savoy Hotel) and Ma Shwe Sin Moe (currently working at Asian Trails Co. Ltd) helped as Masters of Ceremony together with other alumni who also came and helped in different func-tions in the ceremony. We are very proud of our alumni’s attitude and mindset towards the E4Y and this gives us unlimited happiness. There were traditional songs and dances performance created by the E4Y stu-dents. Parents were very pleased to see their children’ success.

    Sayar U Aye Kyaing, E4Y’s education advisor gave the opening speech which was full of encour-agement to the audience and also thanked to CVT Board and local man-agement team for the kind hearts to those children in most needs. Mr. Stefan, Vice President of CVT, Dr. Kari, ex-president of CVT also attended the ceremony together with the rest CVT management team. (14) out of (18) E4Y gradu-ates will follow apprenticeship in dif-ferent professions. Some are already in the workplace and some are wait-ing for personal interview. The rest (4) youths are now taking further training at “Cele Tailoring and Design Shop” where they can also earn at the same time. “Without the supports from CVT broad, E4Y can never stand as it

    is and we would like to thank to their enormous supports technically and financially. The local management body’s guidance and collaboration are highly grateful. Moreover, E4Y teachers and admin staff’s efforts are much appreciated. Our students and their parents’ cooperation is essential to get success and companies who give opportunities to our students to learn and work as apprentices. Those great teamwork creates synergy and welfare of Myanmar Youngsters.

    Hotel and Gastronomy Assistant Pro-fession Final Year Apprentice Naw Su Si Thein was nominated by the school to compete in the world’s third Young Chef Olympic Cooking Competition

    held in India between 27th January to 2nd February 2017. Among all 45 countries, she introduced Myanmar as the 4th place in the first round. Af-ter 4 rounds, she could keep Myan-mar in the top ten and was awarded a professional knives set. This is the first milestone success for Myanmar Hotel Industry as well as for CVT School that has been brought by a CVT final year apprentice and we are very proud for this achievement. She was also a first runner up in the Na-tional Skill Competition 2016. She is currently working in the Rose Garden

    Hotel as a kitchen assistant.

    In-Company Trainer Program Activities

    “In-Company Trainers Batch-9” has successfully opened at CVT Myanmar on 28 January 2017. Project Leader, Daw Phyu Win Nyunt welcomed and made the orientation to the attend-ees who are from fourteen different companies (mentioned below). The candidates have to attend the train-ing ten Saturdays, totally 80 hours of learning lessons including assess-ments and evaluation test. Thanks to those training companies who are

    Young Entrepreneur for Myanmar (YE4M) Program Activities

    YE4M Business Plan Competition: Supporting potential young entre-preneurs who have successfully com-pleted YE4M program at CVT with small loan to overcome their busi-ness difficulties is in the aims of YE4M project. The third round business plan competition was held at CVT on

    12 February 2017. Ko Wai Linn Tun (Youth Education Development) and Ma. May Moe Moe Aung (Skin Dis-trict – 9) both YE4M candidates par-ticipated in the competition where they had to present their business plan in full to all the judges. Valuable questions and inputs were discussed

    after the presentation. Thanks to the judges including CVT CEO and CRO, and indeed to two successful busi-ness members, U Kan Myint Maung (MBE) and U Kaung Nyein Soe (Ma-har Shopping) for their contribution.

    Mentoring Section: 30 YE4M alumni actively participated in its YE4M Alumni Workshop on 19 Feb-ruary 2017 at Panda Hotel. This is aim to establish a network platform between Mentor-Mentee that can

    share experiences of business en-vironment. It is also important to bring CVT YE4M to get together and understand the important of mentor-mentees function. Thanks to those volunteer mentors such as CVT Busi-

    ness Trainer, U Aung Min (YE4M) who led the discussion and U Kaung Nyein Soe (Maha Shopping) who also shared about one interesting topic “7 habits if Eagles” to the YE4M audi-ence.
