Profile:

Trained as a physician and a M. Sc. in Community Health in Developing Countries (U. of London), with a Master in Public Health (Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia) and a Specialist Diploma in Human Ecology; my career evolved from working in Primary Health Care and in research in tropical medicine in Peru to work in international public health.

Current and recent positions have involved exercising leadership and developing links leading to effective collaboration with and among Peruvian and international partners, from both the public and private sectors - including initiatives based in public-private partnerships. I am an effective and efficient project and program manager, and have been responsible for complex activities and portfolios covering Peru and eleven other countries in Latin America. The latter includes the Amazon Malaria Initiative (www.usaidami.org).

I am an intelligent, rationale, analytical, well organized and proactive person; able to have productive trans-disciplinary interaction with experts in many areas of health science and policy making, and to facilitate a systemic, evidence-based approach to work. I perform very well in groups and may be a leader or a team member, rapidly fitting in new teams and working environments, thus becoming a productive collaborator in almost no time.

Well-traveled, I easily adapt to different living environments and conditions. I practice sports on a continuous basis, and cultivate activities outside the work environment (I am a rated skydiving instructor and jump master, and practice mountain biking; and am considered a capable photographer). I am proficient in computer use; fluent in Spanish and English, and have intermediate command of Portuguese (conversation and reading) and very basic command of French.
