Southampton units, was held at the Southampton

provide all Southampton owners with information

to hear what were their feel ings about creating a

green gooey mush bobbing around in it. .
A statement in this month's UCO Reporter by
Eva Rachevsky indicates WPRF'S intention to
introduce carp in the lagoon to solve the algae
problem as carp are known eat algae.
Carp are a serious aquatic pest
whose feeding habits render ecosystems
uninhabitable for native fish species.
Common carp root around on the lake or river
bottom searching for food. Their presence in
an ecosystem is associated with a decrease in
shallow-rooted and soft-leaved aquatic
vegetation. The uprooting of vegetation and
stirring up of bottom substrate causes an
increase in turbidity (murky water with high
levels of suspended sediment).
Research indicates that as the number of
common carp in a water body increases, so
does turbidity, phosphorous , ammonia,
nitrogen, and chlorophyll . The suspended
sediments increase risk of disease, and
smother fish eggs.
The presence of common carp is associated
with reduced levels of vegetation, species that
require high densities of vegetation and high
water clarity wil l no longer have suitable
habitat.
The use of aerators in our pond wil l help,
Their effectiveness is reduced unless
measures are taken to improve water
circulation.
According to Purdue University:
aerators help remove phosphorous from your
pond water, which reduces the occurrence of
algae, but aeration alone wil l not prevent
algae growth entirely, particularly if
phosphorus continues to be introduced
into the pond. Your pond environment is
greatly improved if you add an aerator, but if
you don't address other factors that influence
algae growth, such as nutrients entering the
pond through grass clippings or ferti l izer
runoff, you'l l sti l l have problems with algae.

I am hoping that history does not
repeat itself in Century Vil lage. My gut feel ing is
that I 'm not going to get my wish. The secrecy
and stonewall ing of the current administration
reminds me of the attempted fleecing of the
vil lage by WPRF in collusion with the incumbent
president of UCO in the aftermath of the
hurricane that ravaged the vil lage in 2004. The
clubhouse was severely damaged and unusable
in the wake of the storm.
Mr Marshall , our trusted President
at the time, betrayed the vil lage by secretly
signing an agreement with Mr Levy of
WPRF, (who own the clubhouse,) to
charge residents in ful l during it's
reconstruction. The secret agreement
stipulated that in the event the clubhouse
was rendered unusable, the residents
were required to pay ful l dues, even though they
couldn't use the clubhouse.
I t was an obvious contravention of
the Mil lenium Agreement, which declared the
fees were to be reduced by 2/3 while the
clubhouse was out of service.
No one outside the inner circle
who made the secret agreement were aware
of it.
During reconstruction of the
clubhouse, Mr Levy insisted that the fees were
to be paid in ful l and that UCO would be picking
up the tab for the repairs. Warnings and threats
of dire consequences brought UCO to heel and
our money kept flowing in Mr Levy's direction.
Due to Bob Marshall 's secret
agreement, the residents were getting fleeced
for mil l ions of dol lars that they were not
responsible to pay, and had no inkl ing of the
dirty trick being played on them by their trusted
officers in UCO.
Feel free to draw your own
conclusions about Bob Marshall 's motivations.
Bob Marshall and Mark Levy kept
quiet about the secret agreement. I f Ed Black,
who was Vice President at the time knew about
it, true to form, he kept the conspiracy of
si lence. There were many in the vil lage who
knew the injustice of it al l , but few who were
wil l ing to take action to stop it.
Myron Solomon and I launched a
lawsuit to stop the blatant looting of our money
and recover monies wrongful ly handed over to
WPRF.
In the course of negotiating a
settlement we were never made aware of the
secret agreement. I discovered it years later
when I made a request for documents
from UCO. We were astounded when
the detai ls of the secret agreement were
final ly revealed .
The refund we won hardly
assuaged the bitter taste of the
treachery we endured .
I know this might seem like ancient
history, but I see the same kind of secrecy in the
present administration by some of the same
people who were there when the hurricane
struck.
I hope that one day we wil l have
an administration that is open and honest
instead of one that revels in secrecy and deceit.
Unless UCO and it's current crop of officers
open up and let the sun shine in, we are at risk
of being cheated in ways you or I never
imagined.
I sincerely hope that Century
Vil lage wil l see the truth, and the lesson, in al l
this and rid us of these scoundrels forever.

This is my first article about Century Village. There's so many things I see needing a little
TLC around here that one article is not big enough , so I'll be writing a lot more.
One thing I notice is that a lot of people get busy making a snowball then try to hand it to
me, I guess it's because they don't have the moxy to throw it themselves.
This is a snowball I made myself and now I'm going to throw it.
Being an old time sandhog tunneler from New York City, I believe in safety first.
I see the people walking out of the village at the Haverhill entrance, They cross the entrance
road by the guard house gate. I couldn't help but notice that the striping on that crosswalk needs to be
repainted because it's all worn out.
Geez, that's the next thing anyone sees when they come to Century Village after seeing the
wall at the entrance that looks like it was hit by artillery.
While the paint on the crosswalk fades away, the committees flutter around squabbling over
crumbs like the pigeons in my old neighborhood.
Who's to blame ? It could be the CAM or the vice presidents or some one on a committee or
whatever.
I hope they can figure out what to do with it before someone gets hit by a car. Drivers have to
yield to a crosswalk, but if they can't see it ? It could be the cause of a lawsuit that would make the lawsuits
against UCO look like chump change.
Maybe the board doesn't want to spend the money to paint it because they don't know what
they are going to do with the ratty paving job. Whatever the decide to do with the paving whether its re-
paving or topcoating, they'll have to restripe the whole village. The crosswalk should be repainted now
While the boards and committees have their meetings and donuts, there's real work being
ignored and snafus are everywhere.
Like my foreman in the tunnels used to say .. MAKE IT HAPPEN .. OR ELSE ! I can't
say that around here, some people might take it as a threat. But I can say: MAKE IT HAPPEN !

thank for voting for me. 1 0 years on

The Great and knowledgeable one, the UCO
President is missing the points and is
dragging all of us into a legal mire.Where
does he think that he has the inal ienable right
to deny the Lawsuits that are coming and put
us all in jeopardy? Remember UCO is us. We
have been told this a number of times by the
UCO Administration Whose advice is he
fol lowing The Advisory Committee? The
Executive Committee? The Delegates?I don't
think so. He is fol lowing his own knowledge
and experience. Is this to be trusted? Does he
have any experience? Does he have any real
knowledge? Are we going to stand and let a
man that has no experience in legalities, in
defending lawsuits to guide us in these
matters? There is plenty of good advice within
the Vil lage. There is Esther who is asking
good and concise and knowledgeable
questions, which are all ignored. There is Ed
asking terrific questions regarding how our
money is spent and what are the plans for the
future What is the problem bringing on all
these Lawsuits? I t is the lackof Freedom of
information. I t is the lack of Sunshine in the
UCO operations. What is wrong with being
free with information that shows how and
where our money is being spent? What are
they ashamed of? What are they afraid of?

Diogenes travels on, lantern held high, one
plodding step after another. His goal as
always; the truth, the explanation, the reason
why. Today Diogenesis is found walking
through the tropical paradise known as
Century Vil lage, West Palm Beach in the
sunny state of Florida.
He sought a paradise of legend
where beautiful waters reflect the blue of the
sky on a sunny day amid gardens of exotic
trees and flowers. I t was to be just that kind
of sunny day, so Diogenes eagerly awaited
the rise of the sun over
shimmering blue water. But
wait? What happened? Instead of
the blue, beautiful lakes he
expected .
He sees M..green?
Diogenes wipes his eyes, quaffs
a long draft from the flask of wine
on his belt, and looks again. He
sees waters that could use some
replenishment. "That wil l come
with the rains" he muttered, but
the color? The odor? The clogging fronds
ofMalgae?
Could this be the paradise of
green splashed with color and blue waters
that he had been led to expect? What went
wrong?
Thankful ly, Diogenes was able
to use his lantern to see ahead of him and
there he saw a man who had been trying to
fish off a bridge. The man was slowly shaking
his head. He explained, in answer to the
questions of Diogenes, that fishing was no
longer a great relaxant for him, at least not
here in the Vil lage. There is something wrong
with the water and the fish do not look
healthy, nor would I eat them. (Quite frankly,
neither would I, but I would not eat them even
if the water were back to blue! Too much runoff. )
Look at the algae, he said. I t is clogging up the
waters and lending itself to the growth of
stagnant and smelly water and where are my
little turtles whose tiny heads I used to see
peeking out of the water? My grandchildren love
to come here to watch them.
` Diogenes was able to contact some experts
and share his concerns with them. They
explained that the Vil lage had an arrangement to
get some recycled water to fi l l the lakes at times
of low water, a good thing, butM. This water had
some chemicals sti l l remaining in it as it
flowed into the Vil lage waterways, it is
those chemicals causing the problem in
the water. Diogenes praised the efforts
made to aerate the waterways, but
knows it is not enough. The vil lager's
priorities l ie elsewhere." Are the
vil lagers too distracted by their daily
rituals to realize that without the beauty
of the lake and it's sparkl ing waters in
the sunlight, without lakes teeming
with the precious gift of l ife there would
be a great big hole in the fabric of the Vil lage?
The experts said that testing by
outside sources and experts needed to be done
and plans made. I t is not yet too late, but time
was quickly moving on.
Diogenes sent a message to his
friends in the Vil lage.
I am moving on but wil l return. In
the meanwhile, please look to your surroundings
and do what must be done to bring back the
sparkl ing blue waters of your vil lage. Find a way
to force the cleanup of the inflowing water and
please, YOU MUST take into account that this
water sprays all over the Vil lage in irrigation and
fountains and hits not only the ground but often
people too. "Not good. Do something" he
muttered as he plodded ever onward.

The hole in the wall at the
Haverhil l entrance to Century Vil lage is sti l l
there!
David Israel commented on his
blog, denying ownership of the wall , putting the
onus on Mr Waldman (owner of the defunct golf
course) to make the neccessary repairs.
We were not so sure. We
checked the facts. Staff in the county offices
are of the opinion that the wall is in fact owned
by three separate entities. Century Vil lage,
Palm Beach County and Mr Waldman.
Does it real ly make a whole lot of
difference who actual ly owns it ? The cost of
repairs would be the responsibi l ity of the
person who did the damage. Someone has to
take the lead in getting it done. UCO seems
content to accept David Israel 's position.
Meanwhile the ugly, gaping hole
in the wall remains for the world to see.
YOU FIX IT ! ... NO... YOU FIX IT !

Are you tired of hearing that your passwords are
not strong enough? Well , they probably aren't. In
order to keep as safe as possible on the internet,
you need very strong passwords. They should
never contain your maiden name, your parent's
names, your children's names, birthdays,
anniversaries, mother's maiden name, etc, etc,
etc. So you think that if you make a very strong
password, you wil l have difficulty remembering it.
Not so. I t's doesn't have to be much of a problem
at al l . Why not pick out a l ine from your favorite
song or poem, or a favorite quote? For example,
one of my very favorite songs is Twil ight Time.
The first l ine of the song is; heavenly shades of
night are fal l ing, it's twil ight time. Take the first
letter of each word, and make that your
password. For the above song, that would be
'hsonafitt' Easy, isn't it? Now most passwords
require at least one number or alternate
character, so in the case of the password we just
created, we could satisfy that requirement by
changing what we have created just a l ittle bit.
Example: hs0n@fitt. I now have a number and
an alternate character in my password, and it's
sti l l very simple to remember. Why don't you give
it a try? But folks, please do not use the same
password for everything. That's a dangerous
thing to do. You can sti l l use only one song, or
one poem, and create many, many passwords
from it, by choosing l ine one for one password,
l ine two for another, etc

Bits and PiecesSo the UCO Treasurer has
announced that we have over paid to the tune of
$69,000 to UCO, maybe because of the change
in the budget year. So he wil l clear this up next
month. After he is done, wil l we see a refund?
I have not seen the refund for the
WiFi charges that were turned down by the
entire Delegate Assembly yet. As a matter of
fact the Delegates turned down the WiFi
initiative, which is the reason for the Wifi refund.
So how come the Great One in
room 1 01 at 21 02 is pushing his latest, the
Broad Band initiative? Which is just another
name for WiFi. Is he planning on switching the
WiFi money over to the Broad Band money? I
wouldn't put it past him.
So things at the UCO
headquarters are going swimmingly. We pay,
they collect, and all is good. Just ask the
knowledgeable one, David Israel.
How about this? The Aids and
Cleaning people can buy Gate Passes. The
passes used to cost $3.00 a quarter, now the
price is $4.50 a quarter. So why is there a
charge at al l . These are regular people that
have steady jobs in the Vil lage. Do the Seacrest
people pay? Do the Gardeners pay? So why
charge the Domestics? Gary Olman

speaks of the resignation of John and Kitty Cragg when they were instructed that a very short,
minutes long, video of me talking about a book club, was withdrawn and no viable reason given.
This was delivered by the notorious Ed Black who by the way left another lovely message for me on
