These courses are aimed at Post Leaving Certificate students who wish to gain specific skills relevant to the Equestrian Industry and in so doing, gain a recognised qualification.

Applications are welcomed from mature students who wish to gain a recognised qualification in the Equestrian industry.

facilitate the student to acquire an understanding of the structure and function of the equine digestive system

The student will acquire knowledge of the composition of food and feedstuffs, good feeding principles and understand the nutritional requirements specific to work load, breed and status

The student is taught how to recognise common diet related disorders and be aware of possible preventative measures

The aim of this module is to enable the learner to develop skills and procedures of good practice that will allow them to work safely with a variety of breeding stock in different situations.

To facilitate the learner to become competent in assisting with a range of procedures and skills used in horse breeding.

The student will be taught the theoretical concepts of horse breeding and apply them in practical situations.

PROGRESSION to HIGHER EDUCATION from our courses Athlone IT Higher Certificate in Business in

Equine Studies Level 6 Any Fetac level 5 is acceptable. There

are no specific module requirements. Entry is competitive. As a holder of this level 6 award you

are eligible to apply to join the Bachelor of Business in Equine Studies (Level 7) one year add-on programme at AIT.

Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Nursing (Level 7) Ordinary Degree

Any FETAC level 5 is acceptable, however applicants must have Leaving Certificate Mathematics or the module Mathematics (C20139) and a Leaving Certificate Science subject (min OB3) or the module Biology (C20006)(Merit required).

Entry is competitive.

NUI Maynooth MH405 Equine Business (Level 8

Hons Degree) Applicants must obtain distinctions in 5 modules Also required Leaving Certificate Mathematics with a minimum of Grade 0C3/HD3 or Distinction in C20139 Mathematics C20174 Mathematics for Engineering C20175 Mathematics for Computing Entry is competitive.
