Culture Night is a unique celebration that offers the opportunity to sample forms of culture you may not normally make time for.Take a look at this year's Cultural Trail hosted by Carlow County Council Arts Office, FREE family-fun events devised by local artists, music and cultural groups, communities, public spaces and clubs.

CULTURE NIGHT CARLOW 2019 LINE UP…

Music Generation Carlow will feature the talented young musicians ReelÓg the junior trad ensemble for a night of music not to be missed. MGC is now in its sixth successful year and their diverse range of musical styles and genres created by extremely talented young Carlovians will leave you incredibly impressed and maybe a little jealous of their talents!

For those who want to experience as many multicultural events as possible on the 20th September and offer your insight into reviewing them, Carlow Regional Youth Service are inviting young people to join them in exploring and reviewing as many different cultural events as possible. The evening will start and end with multicultural food together. A great opportunity to meet other young people and experience a wide range of cultural events. Family friendly arts workshop that will allow everyone to use their imagination and develop drawing, graphics and painting skills while having fun. All welcome to take part and discover how to use art to express emotions, feelings and release creativity! Take the chance and explore your artistic skills with our professional art graphic tutor during the event run by Equal Chances Polish School.

Culture Night will host the official launch of Latvian and Syrian Book shelves in Tullow Library with representative from the Latvian Embassy in attendance. Latvian children's folk dancers will then take centre stage and perform some dance routines, followed by an Irish musicians' session. Light refreshments will be served. All very welcome!

Graduate from IT Carlow Art Course, Jung-A Han's Voice:목소리:Moksoli is a live fifteen minute performance and forty five minute audio installation, exploring aspects of dual identity. The performance explores reciprocal exchange of diverse experiences via hybridity of cultures and language in a rich cultural experience with invited performer Yoon-Kyung Chung. The IT Carlow Art Collection comprises of over 300 pieces exhibited across the college campus. Culture Night is your rare opportunity to take part in a guided tour of the collection. Brother Laurentius, a 7th century monk, has finished his training in Rath Melsigi Carlow (one of the most prestigious and illustrious monasteries in Europe), and is off on his mission to continental Europe. Come along as Br Laurentius (known to his friends as Larry), packs his bags and discusses his life, his hopes and his ambitions! Carlow County Museum will be hosting an entertaining 'show-and-tell' on the life and times of an early-medieval Irish monk. Suitable for all ages, no booking required.

Featuring the below works: - Orla Barry's 'Breaking Rainbows' a humorous and endearing look at sheep farming and our relationship to the natural environment. - Orla Ryan's 'Have you Forgotten Me Mr Haynes?' a poetic film essay using found footage from serial melodramas from the teens of the 20th century, produced by Stormy Petrel (A collaboration between Orla Ryan, Brian Hand and Alanna O'Kelly)- Jacinta Moore's 'Stone Age and Beyond' a fusions of altered moving imagery bring a characteristic of modern day to Browneshill. CHROMA is a Carlow based group of artists producing varied and exciting works of art in response to the beauty of the natural environment. The works span both traditional and contemporary approaches and include figurative and semi-abstract landscapes, seascapes and portraiture. The artists are: Mary Clare Nolan, Lorraine Hayden, Bridget Monks, Pat Grassick, Liz Eustace, Teresa Fennell, Maeve Taylor and Ann Cuddy. 'Chroma is the quality of a colour's purity, intensity and saturation'

Enjoy a showcase of the talented young musicians from Music Generation Carlow. Taking to the stage will be MouthBox, the county vocal ensemble; BoomBrasstic, the county wind, brass and percussion ensemble & ReelIG, the senior trad. ensemble. Since their establishments all three ensembles have played at many prestigious events including- performing for President Michael D. Higgins, US Vice-President Joe Biden. Not to be missed!

As part of Culture Night celebrations, Carlow will be presented with the Celtic Charter and officially announced as host town for the Pan Celtic International Festival 2020.The festival which will take place from 14th – 19th April will be a Gathering of the Celts from Wales, Scotland, Brittany, Cornwall, Ireland and the Isle of Man at this great Easter family event.

Carlow Ukulele Players have been ukeing together since Nov 2017, ranging in age from twenty somethings to octogenarians and recently took to this year's Body & Soul!Their uplifting and fun vibe will be joined on the night by the High Hopes Choir, all of whose members have been touched by homelessness in one form or another, as they perform a repertoire from the best of Irish Ballads to some classic pop and rock music. Interactive Culture Night fun full of the 'feel good factor'!

CARLOW UKULELE PLAYERS JOIN HIGH HOPES CHOIR @ VISUAL

100 years on from when he bequeathed various properties to the town of Carlow, The Carlow Storytellers will celebrate the life and work of the writer George Bernard Shaw. There will be excerpts from some of his finest plays, including Pygmalion and Arms & The Man. A voracious letter writer, see Shaws correspondence come to life by dramatisation and photography. Learn more about Shaws links to Carlow. And, of course, no Storytellers night is complete without the irresistible mix of songs, stories, poetry and laughs.

Between Your Love And Mine is a requiem written by Leonard Cohen in memory of young people from the Carlow area who died by suicide.Using only the songs and words of Leonard Cohen, and with the singer's full cooperation, John MacKenna has devised a piece of theatre which features a broad range of Cohen's work, both sung and spoken - excerpts from Cohen's Book of Mercy, a late and unpublished poem, and songs from across the singer's career - to produce a requiem that remembers young friends and those who mourn them.Book FREE tickets on www.visualcarlow.ie

A Rambling House event will return to O'Shea's Pub, Borris again this year for Culture Night. All are invited to come and simply listen and enjoy, or to join in the singing, or why not perform a favourite song, piece of music, story or even a joke! The Rambling House culture was countywide in the past, when local people entertained themselves; the night is both a celebration of the past and a sign that the tradition is still alive and well in Carlow!

'Take A Part Carlow' is an ambitious participatory community art led initiative working in the Tullow Road area of Carlow Town. The ceramic pieces displayed were produced between June – Sept. 2019. TAP Carlow worked with artist Clare Breen on Breadfellows chats which works by asking two people to work together with a piece of clay to create a vessel. Over five weeks the group met at different people's homes. The group learned how to work with clay to make everything from bowls, plates, cups and serving spoons and chatted, laughed, drank tea and ate biscuits along the way! These get togethers were captured through photos and
