Piña ColadaIngredientes
15 onzas de crema de coco
Ron blanco de Puerto Rico
Jugo de piña, sin endulzar
Procedimiento
En un recipiente grande,
vierta el contenido de la lata
de crema de coco. Añada
30 onzas de ron blanco,
Añada 45 onzas de jugo de
piña. Mézclelo todo.
Conserve en la nevera. Al
momento de servir, agite
bien el envase y sirva la
bebida.
Proporción de la Piña Colada: 1 parte de crema
de coco, 2 partes de ron blanco y 3 partes de
jugo de piña. Buen provecho!
Piña ColadaIngredients
15 oz. (Cream of coconut)
White Rum from Puerto Rico
Pineapple Juice, no sugar added
Procedure
In a large recipient, pour 15 oz of Coconut
Cream. Add 30 oz. of white rum. Add 45
oz. of Pineapple juice. Mix Everything.
Keep refrigerated. When ready to serve,
shake the container and serve chilled.
Portions for a Piña Colada: 1 Part
Cream of Coconut, 2 Part White
Rum, 3 Part Pine Apple Juice. Enjoy!

Coquí is the common name for several species of small frogs
endemic to the archipelago of Puerto Rico and the Virgin
Islands, named for the loud sound the males make at night.
Puerto Rico, officially the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (Spanish:
"Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico") is a semi-autonomous territory .
The history of the archipelago of Puerto Rico (Spanish for "rich port").
When Christopher Columbus arrived at Puerto Rico during his second voy-
age on November 19, 1493, the island was inhabited by a group of Arawak
Indians known as Taínos. They called the island "Borikén" or, in Spanish,
"Borinquen". Columbus named the island San Juan Bautista, in honor of
Saint John the Baptist.
The official languages of the island are Spanish and English.

UN NUEVO COMIENZO
En esta época del año y sintiendo que el Año Nuevo se acerca,muchos de nosotros nos ponemos a reflexionar que hicimos mal, quedejamos de hacer o en que podemos mejorar, por lo tanto pensamos en unnuevo comienzo y empezamos a planear, pero a veces no sabemos comoorganizarnos o que pasos tomar, por eso aquí te brindamos algunassugerencias.
___Cambia tus actitudes, (… tu actitud. Las circunstancias que nos rodean…) elentorno que nos rodea influye en nuestra manera de actuar, generalmente nopodemos controlar el ambiente (ni las personas que nos rodean…) que nos rodea,pero si podemos controlar y cambiar nuestras actitudes.
___Piensa positivo, júzgate a ti mismo de un modo satisfactorio y positivo, talcomo: yo lo puedo hacer, se paciente, honesto y realista. Tú puedes escoger seroptimista o ser pesimista, la gente que es optimista tiene mayor nivel de satisfacciónpersonal, por lo tanto se positivo y busca la felicidad para poder obtener más de lavida. Trata de tener y mantener una actitud positiva, si alguna situación te dalimones has limonada.
___Nadie es perfecto, admite tus errores y aprende de ellos, no te dejes vencer porellos.
___Soporte (Busca apoyo), no olvides que todos necesitamos de la ayuda de losdemás, la familia y los amigos son una parte importante ya que ellos te puedenayudar. Tener a alguien con quien hablar es de mucha ayuda, ya que te puedenaconsejar así como orientar.
Estas son solo algunas sugerencias de tantas que puede haber, pero lo masimportante de todo eres (TU), lo que tu quieres hacer y hasta adondequieres llegar son decisiones que solo tu las puedes tomar.

A NEW BEGINNING
At this time of the year, and feeling that the New Year approaches manyof us put ourselves to reflect, what bad things we made, what we did notdo, or in what we can improve on. Therefore we think about a new begin-ning, and we begin to make plans, but sometimes we don’t know how toget organize, or what steps to take, for that reason we offer some sugges-tions for you.
___ Changing your attitudes, (…attitude. The circumstances around…) the envi-ronment around us influences our attitudes. Usually we cannot control our environ-ment (or the people surrounding us…) us, but we can control and change ourattitudes. You can choose to be optimistic or pessimistic.
___Positive thinking, think positively, make statements to yourself in the affirma-tive, such as I will do it. Be patient, honest, and realistic. People who are optimistichave higher level of personal satisfaction. You can look for the positive, be happier,and get more out of life. Consciously try to have and maintain a positive attitude, ifa situation gives you lemons-make lemonade.
___No one is perfect, admit your mistakes and learn from them; do not let themget you down.
___ (Look for …) Support, we all need people we can depend on. Have family andfriends you can go for help with your problems. Having someone to talk to can bevery helpful.
These are just some suggestions of many that you can find, you canchoose what you want to be, and what way to take, these decisions are upto you.

New Possibilities: There's no limit to whatGod can do in your life and nothing is impos-sible with God. God opens doors that no mancan shut and also closes doors that no mancan open. The possibilities are endless withGod that is according to His will. (Philippians4:13)
New Plans: Every year is a new season, beprayerful of what God has planned for youand be willing to walk by faith in obedience asyou follow His leading. Remember that Hisplans are always for good and not for evil togive you a future and a Hope. (Jeremiah 29:11-13)
New Purpose: As you forge ahead, Godalways has a plan and a purpose for what youwill go through and experience. Rememberthat God always has a reason for what Heallows in your life and through it you can trustHim completely. (Proverbs 1:3-5)
New Provisions: The bible says to not worryabout tomorrow for tomorrow has enoughworries of it's own. Trust in your HeavenlyFather who knows everything you need, whois your God and your Provider. He is faithfuland He will do it. (Matthew 6:1-33)
New Growth: When we are willing to let goand let God work in us and through us, Hewill always stretch us and grow us. It is animportant part of the growth process. Con-tinue to grow in your relationship with Himand in His Word. Pray for God to mold youand make you pliable in the potters hand andthen watch the master craftsman work on Hismasterpiece; which is you!

As Christmas comes to an end we anxiouslyawait the words "Happy New Year!" My bestfriend and I have this tradition we do everyyear for the last five years usually around theend of December. We go to our favoritebeach spot, where we talk and pray about thepast year and look ahead to the New Year.
We ponder and discuss all the interesting oc-currences that happened the past year; thegood times, the bad times, the frustratingtimes and the fun times. We share what valu-able lessons we learned from our experiences,what God showed us and how He was faithfulthrough all of it
We do this as a closure to one year and thenan opening to the next. After we have laugheda while and then cried, we begin to look for-ward with great excitement, wondering whatGod has for us this coming new year. Whatnew experiences will we go through and whatnew lessons will we learn. It's all fresh andnew and that is exciting.
In doing this I believe it helps us to view eachyear as a season, understanding that God isSovereign and has new seasons of experiencesand growth to make us more like Christ. I cantestify there were times we went through sea-sons of grief and there were also times weexperienced seasons of joy.
It helps me to remember that God is in totalcontrol and that we are constantly growing asHis children and that He knows the plans Hehas for us. Plans of new wisdom, insight andunderstanding that He wants to impart to us,if we will allow Him to.
It also gives us a fresh new outlook of thecoming year and enables us to leave the pastwhere it belongs, not that we forget the pastbut learn from it and move forward into ourpresent future with opened hearts and mindsto receive whatever God has for us.
With that said, I put together eight ways wecan view the New Year and every year as.
New Wisdom: With new experiences andnew lessons come new wisdom and insight.
Always make it a priority to seek out wisdomas hidden treasure or fine gold. In Proverbs it
says that it will be like a garland of gracearound your neck and honor you and present
you with a crown of splendor. (Proverbs 4:7-9)
Renewed Peace: As you go through newexperiences and new adventures whether theyare good or bad, my encouragement is to keepyour eyes fixed on Christ and He will give yourest and peace, because He is our peace andloves you and cares for you deeply. (JohnKeep in mind that if even the wicked give
good gifts to their children how much morewill your Heavenly Father give to those that
ask Him? (Matthew 7:7-11)
Let us give thanks to the Lord for getting usthrough another year as we look forward towhat He has for us up ahead and praise Himthat He is faithful and worthy to be praised!
Our God is an Awesome God, Who Reignson Heaven and Earth’ With Wisdom Powerand Love, Our God is an Awesome God!

¡Cuando la Navidad se acaba esperamosansiosamente las palabras "Próspero AñoNuevo"! Mi mejor amigo y yo tenemos estatradición que hacemos todos los años desdehace cinco años generalmente alrededor alfinal de Diciembre. Vamos a nuestro lugarfavorito de la playa, donde hablamos y oramosacerca del año que ha pasado y la miramoshacia adelante para recibir el Año Nuevo.
Reflexionamos y discutimos todas lasocurrencias interesantes que sucedieron en elpasado año ; los tiempos buenos, los tiemposmalos, los tiempos que nos frustraron y lostiempos divertidos. Compartimos leccionesvaliosas que aprendimos de nuestrasexperiencias, lo que Dios nos mostró y cómoEl fue fiel en todo.
Hacemos este como un cierre al viejo año ycomo una apertura al nuevo. Después de quenosotros nos hayamos reído un rato y llorado,comenzamos a mirar hacia adelante con granentusiasmo, preguntándonos lo que Dios tienepara nosotros este año nuevo venidero. Quénuevas experiencias habemos que atravesar yqué nuevas lecciones aprenderemos. Esto estodo fresco y nuevo y eso nos emociona.
A hacer esto creo que nos ayuda a ver cadaaño como una temporada, entendiendo queDios es Soberano y tiene nuevas temporadasde experiencias y crecimiento para hacernosmás como Cristo. Puedo testificar habíatiempos en cuales nosotros atravesamos unastemporadas de pena y había también tiemposen los que nosotros experimentamostemporadas de la alegría.
Me ayuda a recordar que Dios está en elcontrol total y que crecemos constantementecomo Sus niños y que El sabe los planes queEl tiene para nosotros. Los planes de nuevasabiduría, y entendiendo que El quiereimpartir a nosotros, si nosotros se Lopermitiremos.

According to the Wikipedia Encyclopedia, this is the definition of blood pressure.
Blood pressure (strictly speaking: vascular pressure) refers to the force exerted by circulating bloodon the walls of blood vessels, and constitutes one of the principal vital signs. The pressure of thecirculating blood decreases as blood moves through arteries, arterioles, capillaries, and veins; theterm blood pressure generally refers to arterial pressure, i.e., the pressure in the larger arteries,arteries being the blood vessels, which take blood away from the heart. Arterial pressure is mostcommonly measured via a sphygmomanometer, which uses the height of a column of mercury toreflect the circulating pressure (see Non-invasive measurement). Although many modern vascularpressure devices no longer use mercury, vascular pressure values are still universally reported inmillimeters of mercury (mmHg).
The systolic arterial pressure is defined as the peak pressure in the arteries, which occurs near thebeginning of the cardiac cycle; the diastolic arterial pressure is the lowest pressure (at the restingphase of the cardiac cycle). The average pressure throughout the cardiac cycle is reported as meanarterial pressure; the pulse pressure reflects the differences between the maximum and minimumpressures measured.
The typical values for a resting, healthy adult are approximately 120 mmHg systolic and 80mmHg diastolic (written as 120/80 mmHg, and spoken as "one twenty over eighty") with largeindividual variations. These measures of arterial pressure are not static, but undergo natural varia-tions from one heartbeat to another and throughout the day (in a circadian rhythm); they alsochange in response to stress, nutritional factors, drugs, or disease. Hypertension refers to arterialpressure being abnormally high, as opposed to hypotension, when it is abnormally low. Alongwith body temperature, blood pressure measurements are the most commonly measured physio-logical parameters. Hypertension is noted with people who have diabetes mellitus or kidney dis-ease; studies have shown that blood pressure over 130/80 mmHg should be considered high andwarrants further treatment. Hypotension refers to an abnormally low blood pressure. This is betterunderstood as a physiological state, rather than a disease. It is often associated with shock, thoughnot necessarily indicative of it. Hypotension is a fairly rare problem, hypertension on the otherhand is a much more common problem. Hypotension is usually not a serious problem, although insome cases it can be life threatening.
There are many factors that contribute to the health of an individual. Blood pressurealone is not a good indicator. Other measurements for the level of health of an individual arefitness tests, BMI "Body Mass Index", percent of body fat, the waist to hip ratio, and many others.The fitness test includes running, walking, push-ups, crunches, bench jumps, etc. The BMI meas-urement takes into account the height of the individual with his/her actual weight. Also the lifestyle (sedentary to active) of the person is another measurement of the condition of the body. Allthese measurements need to be done by a professional in order to determine the health level of anindividual.

De acuerdo a la Enciclopedia Wikipedia, ladefinición de presión sanguínea es la presión vascular. Estase refiere a la fuerza que se ejerce cuando la sangre circula através de las vías sanguíneas y esto constituye una de lasseñales vitales de la salud. La presión de la sangre merma oes reducida cuando esta pasa por las arterias, arteriales,capilares, y las venas; el termino de presión sanguínea serefiere a la presión de las arterias, o las vías sanguíneas quellevan la sangre expulsadas por el corazón. La presiónarterial es medida por un instrumento llamado monitor depresión, el cual usa la altura de una columna de mercuriopara reflejar la presión de la circulación. Hay otros métodosde medir la presión vascular, estos no usan mercurio y sonmanejados electrónicamente, pero la medida de esta sereporta universalmente en milímetros de mercurio (mmHg).
La presión sistólica es definida como máxima o el tope de lapresión de las arterias, la cual ocurre cerca del comienzo delciclo cardiaco; la presión diastolita arterial es la mas baja omínima (la fase de descanso del ciclo cardiaco). El promediode la presión a través del ciclo cardiaco es reportado como lapresión media de la presión arterial; la presión del pulsorefleja la diferencia entre la presión máxima y la mínima.
Los valores típicos cuando el corazo descansa, en un adultosaludable, es de 120 mmHg por la presión sistólica y 80mmHg diastólica (se escribe 120/80 mmHg y se lee como“uno veinte sobre ochenta”) con algunas variacionesindividuales. Estas medidas de la presión arterial no sonestáticas, pero pasan por variaciones naturales de un pálpitoal otro y son diferentes durante el transcurso del día (ritmocardiaco); la presión responde a cambios de estrés, factoresnutricionales, drogas, o enfermedades. La Hipertensión serefiere a la presión arterial anormal muy alta, lo opuesto a laHipotensión, cuando la presión es anormalmente muy baja.Junto con la temperatura del cuerpo, las medidas de lapresión sanguínea son las más comunes para determinar omedir las condiciones de una persona. La Hipertensión serelaciona con gente que tiene diabetes mellitas oenfermedades del riñón; Estudios han demostrado que lapresión sanguínea de 130/80 mmHg o más se consideramuy alta y se requiere tratamiento. La Hipotensión se refierea una presión sanguínea anormal baja. Esto se refierenormalmente a un estado fisiológico en vez de un estado deenfermedad. Esta baja presión también se relaciona con elestado de postración nerviosa (shock), pero no es indicativa.Hipotensión no es un problema que se encuentra a menudopero a veces requiere atención médica, pero Hipertensión sies un problema serio, muy común, y muchas veces es devida o muerte.
Hay muchos factores que contribuyen a la salud de unapersona. La presión vascular sola no es una buenaindicación de tu salud. Existen otras medidas y exámenesque pueden determinar la salud del individuo: Los exámenesfísicos, de rendimiento, y de nivel de entrenamiento, etc.tienen pruebas de correr, flexiones, brincos, etc. El Índicede la Densidad del cuerpo (Body Mass Index “BMI”), tomaen cuenta la altura de la persona y su peso. El porcentaje degordura del cuerpo, la medida de la diferencia entre lacintura y las caderas, y otras medidas son también usadaspara determinar el estado físico de la persona. Mas el estilode vida del individuo (sedentaria a activa) es otra medida dela condición del cuerpo. Para determinar tu salud, todosestos exámenes y medidas deben de tomarse con un
profesional de salud.

Arroz con Gandules
Ingredientes:1/2 libra de gandules frescos4 tazas de agua2 cucharaditas de sal1/4 onza de tocino1/2 onza de jamón de cocinar1 cebolla pequeña1 ají dulce1 pimiento verde pequeño1 tomate pequeño2 hojas de culantro2 ramitas de culantrillo, lavadas1 1/2 cucharadas de aceite vegetal con achiote2 aceitunas rellenas1/8 taza de salsa de tomate1/4 cucharadita de alcaparras1 1/8 tazas de arroz1 1/2 taza de agua (en la que hirvieron losgandules)
Procedimiento:Combine los gandules con las 4 tazas de agua ypóngalos a fuego alto. Cuando hierva, tape ycueza por 30 minutos. Agregue la sal y cuezapor otros 15 minutos. Escurra y reserve 1 1/2tazas del liquido con el cual hirvieron losgandules. En un caldero, dore el tocino y eljamón. Añada la cebolla, el ají, el pimiento, eltomate, las hojas de culantro y el culantrillo,todo esto cortado en pedacitos y sofría a fuegobajo. Añada el aceite vegetal con achiote, lasaceitunas, la salsa de tomate y las alcaparras ymezcle. Lave bien el arroz, escurra y añada,mezclándolo bien. Agregue los gandules al arrozy sofría por unos minutos. Añada las 1 1/2 tazasde liquido que reservó y cueza a temperaturamoderada hasta que seque. Volteé el arroz.Tape el caldero y cueza 30 minutos a fuego bajo.A la mitad del tiempo volteé el arroznuevamente.
Rice with Pigeon Peas
Ingredients:1/2 pound of pigeon peas4 water cups2 teaspoons of salt1/4 ounce of bacon1/2 ounce of cooking ham1 small onion1 sweet red pepper1 small green pepper1 small tomato2 leaves of cilantro2 small Bay leaves1 1/2 spoonfuls of vegetal oil with achiote2 stuffed olives1/8 tomato sauce cup1/4 teaspoon of capers1 1/8 cups of rice1 1/2 water cup (in which they boiled pigeon peas)
Procedure:Combine pigeon peas with the 4 water cups in high
heat. When it boils, cover and it cook for 30 minutes.
Add the salt and cook for other 15 minutes. Drain and
keep 1 1/2 cups water boiled where you boiled pigeon
peas. In a kettle, brown the bacon and ham. Add the
onion, the red pepper, the green pepper, the tomato,
bay leaves and culantrillo, all this cut in small pieces
and brown at low fire. Add the vegetable oil with
achiote, the olives, the sauce of tomato and the ca-
pers and mix. Rinse the rice. Add pigeon peas to the
rice and mix it for a minute. Add the 1 1/2 cups of
liquid you reserved from pigeon peas and it cooks at
low temperature until dries. Mix the rice. Cover the
kettle and cook for 30 minutes in low fire .At half
time mix rice again.
