President’s Report
2017 is in full swing with the show season upon us. Thank you to all the
CSSA members who renewed for 2017 - we needed your support. I would
like to also say a big warm thank you to the returning executive members,
as your efforts have been outstanding in representing your area members
and in giving input to the national club. Welcome to our new members Pete
Culumovic (our new treasurer) and Kim Aston (director for Ontario East/
Quebec). Sharon Ayers is new director for Atlantic provinces and Irene
Latchford is our new Vice President. Jo Ann Pavey is our breed liaison with
CKC.
To our departing executive members a heartfelt thank you for the years you
gave and hard work you provided for our club. My hat is off to you folks.
Cathy Reid was our VP and also held many positions over the years. Karen
Henley was our Atlantic director and Michael Lynch was our director for
Ontario East/Quebec. Special thanks to Cathy Kraemer, our past treasurer,
who has agreed to stay on and work with Bob Miller and continue to handle
our results stats and ROMC
I am very proud we have held our membership numbers close to last year’s
total and that we have some new members joining us this year. Please
encourage your puppy buyers to join.
With our newsletter now online and digital, the editor will now email a PDF
copy to all the regional directors, who will in turn forward the file to all
members. We hope this will keep your interest in the national club. In order
to best represent your interests, we do need feed back from you so please
write your directors with ideas.
The 2018 national with be in the Ontario South region once again. Plans are
ongoing; we are just waiting for dates CKC will approve but May will be our
target. Once we have this and a firm site in place the judges voting process
will be sent out so we can get the web site up and face book pages also.
Your directors will give you heads up soon. We plan on a independent event
for 2018 again.
I wish you all a great 2017!

Editor’s Report
CSSA Fanciers Inc. is pleased to announce that we are able to maintain our low ad rates for the summer issue.
Thank you to all who continue to support the CSSA with your membership, your ads, and your commitment to
the breed. Your $10.00 per page fees add up over time, and enable CSSA to support our nationals, as well as
to continue to support our members in world event activities, and to support Sheltie Rescue.
A note for those who are wondering; yes, the ad design fees that are charged are donated by the editor IN
FULL to CSSA, to be held in trust as a fundraiser for the next CSSA National.
I have been asked a few times if I will be doing a Sheltie calendar as a fundraiser for the 2018 National. I am
open to the idea, and will send information to the executive once I get my plan in place.
Looking forward to seeing your beautiful dogs being advertised in the next issue!
Sherrie
Early spring has arrived with warm temperatures, meaning we have already had our first two
all breed shows for 2017. I am very pleased that the sheltie numbers for the two shows were
back to normal. I wish all the litters and new hopefuls best of luck this coming year.
Performance dogs are waiting for their turn but I know it is difficult to practice these days as I
get many enquiries on where the classes are.
I would like to thank all our members who renewed with the CSSA for another year. Our region only lost 4
members who no longer have any dogs or interest. We thank you for the support.
I asked awhile back about interest from our section on hosting another national in 2018 and had 11 folks who
agreed to help. Well it has started and I have been painlessly searching for buildings and hotels. CKC is in
process of giving me available dates to consider for May 2018. I personally have visited 10 sites so far but
wedding season makes many unavailable. I will let you know the few sites I believe will work and we will meet
for committee meeting for all to approve. I will keep you posted as time is ticking. My goal is to fins a hotel with
a conference centre or ballroom large enough, meaning we all arrive and never have to travel which is easy on
the workers and the exhibitors.
Please send along your brags and congrats to the Ontario South members who had success at the Westminster
show this year - way to go!

Director’s Report - BC - Joanne Howe As we are just starting into a new year I have nothing on the home front of any importance to share, but on a
personal note… I am awaiting the arrival of puppies. My Ch Conspirito’s Suzie Q, “Suzie” has been bred to Ch
Mosaic’s High Performance “Chevy”. This litter is line bred on GCh Ch Conspirito’s Last Crusader CGN, HTd, HTs,
HSs, HTAD-1s. Very excited to see what this breeding will produce.
Longhaul - Karen Brearley
Ch. Longhauls Brown Sugar N Spice Am HSAs completed her American Herding Started with 4 consecutive qualifying runs and
2 placements. I am very proud of my young girl and although she did not have polish she sure had a lot of PUSH!
Madselin Perm Reg - Susan Carbert
We would like to brag about our pretty sable puppies that made their debut at the Mt. Cheam shows February 23-26 2017.
Madseline Acceleration picked up 3 BOW, a BOB, Group 4th and BPIG, and his sister picked up 2 WB and a BOW. These puppies
are sired by Am Ch Paray’s Leontes ex Ch Madselin Blame It On Midnight. We are very proud of these babies!
That’s all for this issue, folks!

Director’s Report - Manitoba/ON-North - Elaine Inkster
Spring is approaching very quickly, and Manitoba members are looking forward to all the upcoming
spring and summer shows.
Dyniques - Marilyn O’Donnell
Dyniques Shades of Blue [Izzy] went to the Brandon shows in February. Izzy came back with four points towards her
Championship. Thank you to handler extraordinaire and co-breeder Michelle Rogowski for taking Izzy to the show.
Thanks to judges Grant Townsend and Gail Forsythe for the wins.
Padona - Paula Reid
In December we had a very special litter here co- owned with Michelle and Dale Rogowski. The litter was sired by
Am/Can Ch. Laureate Macadamia (Mac) and the dam is Cassbar Main Attraction {2pts} (Charlee). There were 2
boys and 1 girl born on Dec 19/16 . We are growing out 2 hopefuls Padona Blue Ain't Your Colour ( Urban ) boy and
Padona Once Upon a Time ( Ella) girl. We are so excited to see them grow. 😊
Skyehaven - Sherrie and Cam Sparling
Thank you so much to Susan Carbert of Madselin Shelties in BC for allowing us to lease her beautiful Ch Madselin
Blame It On Midnight for a litter. “Blaina” presented us with three stunningly beautiful babies (one blue girl and two
VERY white factored tri boys)on January 31st, sired of course by our own Can BISS Ch Am Multi BISS GCHB CH
Laureate Cold Play. We will be making the tri boy with the most white on him available to an approved home at the
end of March.
Pictures of the babies are being updated weekly on our Nursery page at www.skyehaven.ca/nursery.htm As this is
our first litter in two years, we are enjoying them immensely!
Thank-you to everyone who sent me their news.
Yours in shelties,
Elaine

Director’s Report - Alberta - Norma Jeanne Pohl
A very brief note from Alberta – Welcome back to all our members who have renewed your
memberships . Without you there would be no club !- this is YOUR club – and we want to help make it
even better for you . We value your support !
WELCOME to all the new members of the CSSA executive and welcome back to us “oldies” –together
we can look forward to planning some fun and interesting events involving our membership and their Shelties .
Apart from the Collie and Shetland Sheepdog Specialty ,in conjunction with the Alberta Kennel Club all breed shows ,in
January – the show scene has been quiet here in Alberta .I know a few members have been crossing the Saskatchewan
border to take part in some shows there!- next one in early March .Good luck everyone – represent Alberta well ! Later
in March and April – our regular Alberta shows take off !
We all look forward to our later spring and summer shows .I t will be fun to visit with everyone and see all the new
young dogs and puppies –ready to break into the world of the show dog – whether it be conformation or performance !
Enjoy your experience with this wonderful breed of ours .
News from a few members -
Zesta - Laura Thompson
Zesta has a new champion! Ch Zesta Blurry Face aka Omgee adds BBPISS BPIS BPISS at 7 months of age! Ch Zesta
Risque is awarded a 4 point major and reserve to a 4 point major in Florida!
Liska - Carol Williams
On January 17, Liska welcomed a new litter. Finally, some girls! One CHW blue merle male, one CHW biblue
female, one biblack female, and one tricolour female. Mom and babies are all doing well. Sired by Ch. Liska Star
Gazer Bi Kimicko, CD RA CGN out of Attridge Kimicko April Showers. This is Janine’s first litter and she is an
excellent Mama. Hoping one of these black girls will be growing up at Liska. On a comic note, every time I type
in “biblack”, the autocorrect changes it to “biblical”! So it’s only fitting that the girls’ baby names are Faith, Hope
and Charity. The boy is Mr Handsome.
Keep warm and safe for the balance of our winter – and together we will look forward to a Happy Spring .
Yours in Shelties ,
Norma Jeanne
