Professor Department of Computer Sc. & Engineering, SIET, Allahabad January-June, 2017 Faculty Development Programme on Research Methodology, Teaching Techniques & Current Technological Trends From June 5-10, 2017, One week Faculty Development Programme on Research Methodology, Teaching Techniques and Technological Trends was Jointly organized by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh, Computer Society of India Division-I, Computer Society of India Allahabad Chapter, Institution of Engineers(India) Allahabad Local Centre at Shambhunath Institute of Engineering & Technology, Allahabad. Faculty Development Programme was inaugurated by Prof. K.K. Aggarwal, Chancellor, K.R. Mangalam University & Former Vice Chancellor, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi & Former President of Computer Society of India by lighting the ceremonial lamp in august gathering. Prof. D.K. Dwivedi, Coordinator, Faculty Development Programme welcomed the guests & participants and gave a brief introduction about the SIET, courses offered and the programme overview of FDP. 65+ Faculty members of engineering and management courses of engineering colleges participated in the programme. Prof. K.K. Aggarwal delivered Inaugural Address and enlightened the participants about the Research Methodology and cited various illustrations highlighting the current trends of inter-disciplinary research. Office bearers of participating institutions/ professional societies viz. Sri Apoorva Agha, Chairman, Computer Society of India Division-I, Dr. Mithilesh Mishra, Chairman, CSI Allahabad Chapter, Dr. Shashank Srivastava, Hony. Secretary, Computer Society of India & Er. Awadhesh Kumar, Hony. Secretary, Institution of Engineers (India) Allahabad Local Centre also addressed participants in the inaugural session. Vote of thanks was given by Prof. J.P. Mishra, Dean (Training), SIET, Allahabad. On 05.06.2017, in Session-II, Prof. Brijendra Singh of Lucknow University delivered talk on Research Methodology and Move towards becoming a developed nation: Quality education.

Faculty Development Programme on Research Methodology, Teaching Techniques & Current Technological Trends

From June 5-10, 2017, One week Faculty Development Programme on Research Methodology, Teaching Techniques and Technological Trends was Jointly organized by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh, Computer Society of India Division-I, Computer Society of India Allahabad Chapter, Institution of Engineers(India) Allahabad Local Centre at Shambhunath Institute of Engineering & Technology, Allahabad. On 07.06.2017, in Session-II, Sri Sanjai Verma of Harischandra Research Institute, Allahabad delivered talk on Cloud Computing.

On 08.06.2017, Prof. Sonali Agarwal from IIIT, Allahabad delivered talk on Data Mining & Data Analytics.

On 09.06.2017, Prof. Mayank Pandey from MNNIT, Allahabad delivered talk on

Software defined Network: An enabler of Internet of Things.

In Valedictory Session, Dr. K.K. Tewari, Secretary, UTTHAN addressed the participants and distributed certificates of participation. Prof. D.K. Dwivedi, Patron, CSI Allahabad Chapter & Coordinator, FDP summarized the week long activities of the FDP. Co-coordinators of the FDP: Dr. Mithilesh Mishra, Chairman, CSI Allahabad Chapter, Er. Awadhesh Kumar, Hony. Secretary, I.E.(I) Allahabad Local Chapter, Prof. Parikshit Agarwal, CSE Department shared their experiences to the participants. Er. B.N. Sharan, Chairman, I.E.(I) Allahabad Local Chapter also shared his experience about the necessity of skill development and refreshing the knowledge through such programmes. Workshop on Power Technology

From Sept.18-20, 2017, 3 days Workshop on Power Technology was organized by National Power Training Institute, Badarpur, New Delhi (A National Apex Body for Training in Power Sector), Ministry of Power, Govt. of India at Shambhunath Institute of Engineering & Technology, Allahabad.

Dr.K.K. Tewari, Secretary, Utthan inaugurated 3 days Workshop on Power Technology by lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Welcome Address was given by Dr. K.K. Tewari, Secretary, UTTHAN.

Prof. D.K. Dwivedi, Director, E-Cell introduced the resource persons and gave an overview of the topics to be covered in 3 dyas of the workshop. Prof. D.P. Agnihotri, DSW enlightened about the importance of workshop. Prof. Pradeep Pandey, Director, CRC advised participants to learn the current advancements in Power Sector.

Resource persons of the workshop were from NPTI, New Delhi and Nuclear Power Corporations Limited. Live scenario of Thermal power generation was presented, explained and demonstrated to the participants with the help of state of the art CBT’s. Sri Deepak Kumar Sharma, Dy. Director, NPTI, New Delhi deliberated in detail the about the present scenario of Power Generation in India, Challenges ahead, an overview of thermal power plants: site selection criteria, environmental care, fuel and water requirement, plant lay out.

Sri V.K. Gupta, Former General Manager, Nuclear Power Corporation India Limited & Guest Faculty, NPTI, New Delhi gave live presentation of the detailed practical exposure about the Boiler and it's auxiliaries: IBR, specification of 210/500 MW Boiler, Boiler construction, role of conomizer, Pr. super heater, platen superheater, reheater, boiler tube materials, flue gas temperatures, feed water and steam temperatures, arrangement of wind boxes, coal mills, primary fans, forced draft fans, induced draft fans, Air pre heaters and boiler feed pumps, Role of Generator, Generator construction, rotor & stator conductors, insulation, end shields, hydrogen cooling, stator water cooling, seal oil system excitation system and AVR etc.

Faculty and students of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering participated in the Workshop. A thermal power plant can function only with adequate competence of professionals of the EE/ME/I&C trades. Participants aspiring for their career in power sector companies (Thermal power, allied sector and other infrastructure companies) are specifically benefitted from this workshop. At the end of sessions, Computer Based Tests were also conducted to test the knowledge gathered by the participants.

In Valedictory Session, an interactive session was conducted and participants were encouraged to raise queries and also to come forward with the best answers to be supplemented by the resource persons. It provided an opportunity to all the participants to actively participate in the learning process and reap the benefits of collaborative learning. Certificates were distributed to the faculty and student participants. Workshop was a great success with the active participation of faculty and students. At the end, student volunteers got big appreciation for coordination & management of the activities.
