• What do crocodiles and alligators eat?

Crocodiles Alligators

Crocodiles are carnivores which means they only eat meat. No brussel sprouts for crocodiles!

Alligators are mainly carnivores but they do sometimes eat berries, citrus fruit and grapes if they grow where they live.

Crocodiles eat mammals, birds, fish and amphibians.

Crocodiles have a very toothy smile! When they close their mouths you can still see their top and bottom teeth.

• Both crocodiles and alligators are cold blooded so they cannot live anywhere too cold. They like to live in warm tropical places, like swamps and jungles.

There is a swampy area in Florida, America called the Everglades. It is the only place in the world where you can find both crocodiles and alligators living together. What sort of water must it be, fresh or salty?
