Service Record Clarifications

• TRS rules ≠ TEA rules

• TEC vs. TAC

• If dock days, service record #days worked decreases

• 1 year of service per line

• Must create service record for ALL employees– substitute teachers (note certified or not)

• Does NOT need to be certified in Texas

Page 36: Critical Issues in Human Resources October 16, 2013 Presented by Melissa Aguero Ramirez

Personal Leave Days

• 5 days available at beginning of year– Ability to pro-rate if they leave

• Days for ALL employees (PT, FT, retirees, etc.)– “value” of day depends on regular workday hours– District can NOT restrict order of use of leave

balances– CAN have fractions of days as a balance

Page 37: Critical Issues in Human Resources October 16, 2013 Presented by Melissa Aguero Ramirez

Charter Schools

• NOT required to issue state days

• NOT required to meet state minimum salary schedule

• NOT required to have Chapter 21 contracts

Page 38: Critical Issues in Human Resources October 16, 2013 Presented by Melissa Aguero Ramirez

Criminal History Reminder

• TAA letter (10/8/12) - IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES INVESTIGATORSTEC §38.022(a) – authorizes a school to require school visitors to display either a driver’s

license or some other unspecified form of government photographic identification.

– does not authorize retaining a paper copy of a driver’s license or other personal identification.
