EMERGENCY SECTION Fire Instruction • e most important thing you can do is put this directory down and read the Fire Precautions Notice on the back of your bedroom door. We normally open the bar from 5.00pm to 11.00pm however we are really happy to serve our resident guests before and after, so please just ask, even when the bar is closed. Once the bar is closed resident guests may still purchase drinks through our night porter service. Every Crerar Hotel has its own malt whisky list and some really great wines which have been selected for us by our personal master of wines and wine merchant. As well as our bar we offer many other areas of relaxation within the hotel. e Strathview Lounge features stunning views on to Ben Wyvis and the room itself has a beautiful Victorian feel with high ceilings and an open fire place. Cinema All guests are welcome to enjoy our very own cinema, situated on the ground floor of the hotel, which shows films every evening, usually at 8.30pm. e board outside the cinema displays the times and movies showing. Movies change daily. DISABLED GUESTS e approach we take is to recognise that disabilities come in all forms and we would encourage you to tell us as much as you feel comfortable with so that we can do all we can to help you. We know every disability is different and, for some, our building will be less easy than for others - our team want to help whenever or however; we can do that well with your help. If you can tell us what will make your stay better we can look to make it happen without fuss. For those that are less comfortable letting general members of our team know how to help please contact our General Manager by dialling “0”. If a guest has any difficulty with sight, hearing, walking or other, please advise reception in case of an emergency so we can be prepared to help and make sure your stay is safe. KIDS & FAMILIES For our smallest guest we can supply cots, high chairs and extra bedding on request...the sooner you let us know the better as we can receive quite a few families visiting us. If you are in the wrong room type we do have family and triple rooms, please ask us at reception - if they are available we will make a switch. Crerar Hotels rarely offer a kids menu (but sometimes we do) as we believe children should be able to eat from our normal menus (smaller portions and prices), though we also know for some kids that’s a trial rather than a treat. Our restaurant team and kitchen brigade know this and will make just about anything you want for your kids...if it’s chicken nuggets, they will be fresh and homemade, if it’s fish fingers again, they will be fresh and homemade. (Warning! Unavailable in adult portions!!). As previously mentioned, the hotel is home to its very own private cinema. A film is shown each evening, though we are more than happy to show a children’s film in the afternoon. Please just ask us and we will be delighted to arrange this. OUT & ABOUT Local Attractions Popular attractions include: the original old pump room, now with very own traditional sweet shop; cruises on Loch Ness - where you may spot famous Nessie; Strathpeffer Spa Golf Club, arguably one of the most scenic courses in northern Scotland; and the nearby city of Inverness, for retail therapy, entertainment and fine cuisine. For more information on these or any other local events or attractions, please ask us or help yourself to the many leaflets kept on the stand at reception. We are happy to provide simple packed lunches, all the way up to proper picnic baskets, at your request. Places of Worship A list of churches and places of worship, directions and service times may be obtained from reception. Public Transport Services Reception will be glad to look up bus and train time information...it’s a pretty small list! We can also provide information on car and bike hire for you on request. CONFERENCES, MEETINGS, GET-TOGETHERS & PARTIES Our conference suites are of various sizes and our unique 30 seat cinema provides an auditorium for presentations, seminars or showcasing your very own short film. Our conference suites give the flexibility of providing you with a number of rooms and areas within the hotel for your syndicate and breakout use. We can offer the Wyvis Suite, ideal for intimate or private dinner parties, and can accommodate up to 20 guests boardroom style. Our Pavilion Suite, which looks out on to our beautiful gardens and is a great space for private parties and conferences, can accommodate up to 120 guests theatre style and up to 50 guests classroom style. For more information on these rooms, please contact our duty manager who will be delighted to assist. Extensive grounds provide you with the option of combining your conference with teambuilding and outdoor events. Private dining for parties and weddings is very popular at the Ben Wyvis and our Head Chef and General Manager would be delighted to talk you through some of the dishes and themes we could arrange for you. Weddings are welcome, with our Jacobite Restaurant - comprising stunning Victorian features, high ceilings and two gorgeous chandeliers - and Strathview Lounge accommodating up to 120 guests for your wedding breakfast and 150 (including day guests) for your evening celebrations. We hold a wedding license here at the Ben Wyvis and would be delighted to help you plan and host your wedding day. Man’s Best Friend Well behaved, quiet dogs are most welcome with us and are allowed in guest bedrooms and public areas, providing food service areas are avoided (at the discretion of the manager). Guide and assistance dogs can go anywhere they like. Dogs can be pretty hairy and we need to clean extra hard afterwards - this will be charged at £10.00 per dog, per evening. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome free of charge - in fact, we will make a donation for every one that stays! Tell us when you want to dine and we will make sure you get a table position that gives your guide or assistance dog space to lie down, plus a bowl of Ben Wyvis Hotel’s finest Scottish water with our compliments. Messages Any messages for you at the hotel will be delivered to your room by reception, or ask at reception if you wish. Newspapers We are unable to offer a regular newspaper delivery service, however there is a shop just down the drive of the hotel. Secretarial Services A photocopying service is available at the charge of 20p per copy and faxes may be sent for £1.50 for the first page and £1.00 per page thereafter. Incoming faxes are free of charge. Typing is charged at £5.00 for the first page and £2.50 per page thereafter. Please ask at reception if you require any of these services. Valuables & Safe Keeping If you have any valuables you may hand them in to reception who will lock them in a safe for security. Please ensure you are given a signed receipt at this time. Please note Crerar Hotels can accept no liability for loss or damage of guests’ valuables other than if they have been kept in the hotel’s main safe. Where this is the case, the guest will be required to show written receipt of the goods into the hotel’s safe keeping, and a copy of the original purchase receipt. Any payment will be subject to insurance policy confirmation and deduction of the insurance excess. Wake Up Call Please request at reception the previous evening by 9.00pm. We are flexible with this time and if a member of the reception team is available to make these arrangements for you after 9.00pm then we will be happy to do so. Wi-Fi Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the public rooms and the majority of the bedrooms and a PC is stationed in the small lounge near reception for use of our guests. Please ask at reception for the computer password or for our Wi-Fi code. ere is a catch...being in one of the most beautiful parts of the world comes at a cost; it means that we are in the “technology sticks” and our Wi-Fi signal can be lost at times. We do work hard to maintain it, so please let us know if you have any issues. NOW THAT YOU ARE CHECKED IN Your Car Free car parking is available to all guests, however we are a very busy hotel and car parking spaces can be like “hen’s teeth”, so please park with care and courtesy. Strathpeffer is just a wee spa town, but even so it’s always best to lock your car and remove all valuables. e responsibility for damage or theft to any vehicle whilst on hotel property lies with the car owner. For folk with a disability there are disabled parking spaces to the side of the hotel and for those who need wheelchair access we can show you the best ways in and out to avoid any steps or difficult surfaces - above all, please let us have the chance to help you in whatever way suits you best. Your Name It’s really important that we have your details correct as it can be too easy for unintended mistakes to happen. Can you take a moment to double check we have spelt your name correctly on your room card? If it’s wrong, next time you are passing reception please let us know and we will fix it straight away. Carrying Bags We can do that for you - please dial “0” from your bedroom telephone when you would like your bags brought down to reception or taken to your car. Heading Home We would be really pleased if you could take a moment to let us know if everything was as you had hoped and that your bill matches the services you enjoyed. You can do this at any time and we really do want to know what we are getting right and where we need to improve... If we got it right then we can get your bill ready, either the night before or when you check out. We are happy to take payment by debit or credit card or cash. Please note a credit card charge will be applicable. Check out is by 11.00am but we are really happy to arrange a later check out at a rate of £10.00 per hour up to 2.00pm. Please pre-arrange with reception. If you are planning to leave before 7.30am we really need to make sure your bill is ready and settled the night before. We can do that any time up until 9.00pm - please let us know the day before as the morning check outs can be very busy. BEDROOMS Bedroom Kit All bedrooms have a TV, direct dial telephone, complimentary Wi-Fi (in the majority), hairdryer, ironing facilities and Brodies tea, coffee and shortbread with our compliments in your room on arrival. Bath mats can be provided on request, please ask and we will be happy to provide one. Each en suite comprises Duke & Lyle shampoo, shower gel and soap. If you need anything replenished, please let us know. If you would like anything else from your room just dial “0” and ask, when we will be really happy to help. With regards to room types, if you would like an upgrade to a front facing Ben View room, please contact reception and we will do our best to arrange for you if available. How to work the TV: - If your TV is turned off (no red light), at the top right hand corner on the back of the TV there is a little button, press once to turn the TV on, then with the TV remote press any of the channel buttons (1-9). - If the standby light is on (little red light) press any of the channel buttons (1-9) and the TV will come on. - Once your TV is on you can choose any channel you wish to view by pressing the correct number on the remote. Heating e Scottish weather is beautifully unpredictable so we do adjust the heating according to season and time of day, though for your additional comfort, please let us know if you require any further assistance. Housekeeping We understand that you are here to relax so please put the “Hush Hush” sign on your door if you want to be left alone or your room left unserviced. e housekeeper is on duty for room servicing between 9.00am and 3.00pm. At any time should you require any extra pillows, towels, bed linen or clothes hangers, please contact reception 24 hours daily where we will be happy to provide these for you, just dial “0”. Smoking All areas within the hotel are designated non-smoking, including guest bedrooms. Where smoking has been detected the hotel will levy a £50 charge for commercial cleaning of any room, as is compliant with the Smoking, Health and Social Care (Scotland) Act 2005. Please avoid smoking in our hotel...there are ashtrays and chairs outside of the hotel for your use. Voltage e UK voltage is 240 volts in all sockets. A shaver socket with dual outlets, 110 and 240 volts, is located in your bathroom. FOOD Our steaks are great - every Crerar Hotel serves only Scottish Farm Assured beef, and sometimes beef from the Crerar Hotels Home Farm pedigree, grass fed herd. Different dietary requirements are understood; please do make us aware and we will try our best to adapt our menu to suit. Our Jacobite Restaurant menu choice is à la carte or from is Evening’s Dinner Menu (please note – guests on dinner inclusive rates can choose from is Evening’s Dinner Menu or, at a supplement, from the à la carte). Jacobite Restaurant Breakfast Monday to Friday 7.30am - 9.30am Saturday to Sunday 8.00am - 10.00am Dinner Monday to Sunday 6.00pm - 9.00pm We are happy to take reservations for dinner. If you require later dining, please let us know and we will be happy to arrange. We are happy to prepare you a light snack or sandwich in our lounge during the day if our chef is on duty, so please just ask us. Tea and coffee are always available. A packed lunch may be ordered at reception. NOW THAT YOU ARE CHECKED INYour Car• Free car parking is available to all guests, however we are a very busy hotel and car parking spaces can be like

“hen’s teeth”, so please park with care and courtesy.

• Strathpe� er is just a wee spa town, but even so it’s always best to lock your car and remove all valuables. � e responsibility for damage or theft to any vehicle whilst on hotel property lies with the car owner.

• For folk with a disability there are disabled parking spaces to the side of the hotel and for those who need wheelchair access we can show you the best ways in and out to avoid any steps or di� cult surfaces - above all, please let us have the chance to help you in whatever way suits you best.

Your Name• It’s really important that we have your details correct as it can be too easy for unintended mistakes to

happen. Can you take a moment to double check we have spelt your name correctly on your room card? If it’s wrong, next time you are passing reception please let us know and we will � x it straight away.

Carrying Bags• We can do that for you - please dial “0” from your bedroom telephone when you would like your bags

brought down to reception or taken to your car.

Heading Home• We would be really pleased if you could take a moment to let us know if everything was as you had hoped

and that your bill matches the services you enjoyed. You can do this at any time and we really do want to know what we are getting right and where we need to improve...

• If we got it right then we can get your bill ready, either the night before or when you check out. We are happy to take payment by debit or credit card or cash. Please note a credit card charge will be applicable.

• Check out is by 11.00am but we are really happy to arrange a later check out at a rate of £10.00 per hour up to 2.00pm. Please pre-arrange with reception.

• If you are planning to leave before 7.30am we really need to make sure your bill is ready and settled the night before. We can do that any time up until 9.00pm - please let us know the day before as the morning check outs can be very busy.

BEDROOMSBedroom Kit• All bedrooms have a TV, direct dial telephone, complimentary Wi-Fi (in the majority), hairdryer, ironing

facilities and Brodies tea, co� ee and shortbread with our compliments in your room on arrival.

• Bath mats can be provided on request, please ask and we will be happy to provide one.

• Each en suite comprises Duke & Lyle shampoo, shower gel and soap. If you need anything replenished, please let us know.

• If you would like anything else from your room just dial “0” and ask, when we will be really happy to help.

• With regards to room types, if you would like an upgrade to a front facing Ben View room, please contact reception and we will do our best to arrange for you if available.

How to work the TV:

- If your TV is turned o� (no red light), at the top right hand corner on the back of the TV there is a little button, press once to turn the TV on, then with the TV remote press any of the channel buttons (1-9).

- If the standby light is on (little red light) press any of the channel buttons (1-9) and the TV will come on.

- Once your TV is on you can choose any channel you wish to view by pressing the correct number on the remote.

Heating• � e Scottish weather is beautifully unpredictable so we do adjust the heating according to season and time

of day, though for your additional comfort, please let us know if you require any further assistance.

Housekeeping• We understand that you are here to relax so please put the “Hush Hush” sign on your door if you want to

be left alone or your room left unserviced. � e housekeeper is on duty for room servicing between 9.00am and 3.00pm.

• At any time should you require any extra pillows, towels, bed linen or clothes hangers, please contact reception 24 hours daily where we will be happy to provide these for you, just dial “0”.

Smoking• All areas within the hotel are designated non-smoking, including guest bedrooms. Where smoking has

been detected the hotel will levy a £50 charge for commercial cleaning of any room, as is compliant with the Smoking, Health and Social Care (Scotland) Act 2005. Please avoid smoking in our hotel...there are ashtrays and chairs outside of the hotel for your use.

Voltage• � e UK voltage is 240 volts in all sockets. A shaver socket with dual outlets, 110 and 240 volts, is located

in your bathroom.

FOOD• Our steaks are great - every Crerar Hotel serves only Scottish Farm Assured beef, and sometimes beef from

the Crerar Hotels Home Farm pedigree, grass fed herd.

• Di� erent dietary requirements are understood; please do make us aware and we will try our best to adapt our menu to suit.

• Our Jacobite Restaurant menu choice is à la carte or from � is Evening’s Dinner Menu (please note – guests on dinner inclusive rates can choose from � is Evening’s Dinner Menu or, at a supplement, from the à la carte).

• We are happy to take reservations for dinner.

• If you require later dining, please let us know and we will be happy to arrange.

• We are happy to prepare you a light snack or sandwich in our lounge during the day if our chef is on duty, so please just ask us. Tea and co� ee are always available.

• A packed lunch may be ordered at reception. Wherever possible we ask that this be ordered the evening before, prior to 7.00pm, however if we can arrange this for you after this time we will be happy to do so. � is will automatically be added to your bill.

In-room Dining• If you prefer to dine in your room we have an in-room service menu; this can be found in your room, then

simply dial “0” to place your order.
