The St. Patricks Day celebra-
tion in Downtown San Diegos
Gaslamp Quarter has been
dubbed The biggest St.
Pattys party west of the Missis-
sippi! The festivities kick off
with the parade on Saturday,3/15 at 11:00am. The route
travels near Balboa Park up5th St. from Juniper to Upas,then down 6th St. and ends at
Laurel. The Irish Festival con-tinues the celebration fromnoon to 6pm in Balboa Park at
6th Ave. and Nutmeg. Thebiggest party is the GaslampQuarter St. Pattys Day BLOCK
PARTY, on Monday, from 4pm-midnight. This is a huge bash
featuring 2 stages, 5 livebands, and 40,000 square feetof Astroturf, yes, Astroturf!
Tickets are $20 in advanceand $25 the day of. The priceof admission includes no
cover charge and food anddrink specials at 29 participat-ing locations in the Gaslamp

Getting AroundTROLLEY: For $1.25 you canget a round trip ticket to travelanywhere in the downtown
area (including stops at theGaslamp Quarter and Con-vention Center). An unlimitedtrip day pass is only $5. See
enclosed route map.
FROM THE AIRPORT: There areseveral options available. Busroute 992 runs from the airport
to downtown for $2.25, whereyou can then take the trolleyto your final destination. TaxiCabs are $10-$12 each wayplus $2 for each additional
passenger. Shuttle service var-
ies from $7-$14 per person.

The zoo is open daily from
9-5. The admission price of

and rides on the guided

The San Diego Zoo is con-
sidered one of the top zoos
in the country. With over
4,000 animals encompass-
ing over 800 species, it is
also one of the largest and
most diverse. The Zoo cur-
rently has the largest Giant
Panda population outside
of mainland China, with 7individuals. The newest
addition to the panda
family is Zhen Zhen, born in
August. Other features in-
clude one-year old Grizzly
bear cubs Scout and Mon-
tana, hyenas, gorillas, and
