Pole Position - F1 Merchandise website - Actinic powered
eCommerce Site
No two words epitomise Motor Sport as do the words ‘Pole Position’,
with almost every major form of the sport indulging in a battle for ‘Pole
Position’ as part of its race weekend.
With a flagship store in the heart of London’s Regent Streets the website
brief was to design and develop a site that really complimented their
retail presence whilst ultimately expanding their range of stock using the
unlimited shelf-space of the Internet.
Working with i-KOS
Pole Position already used Actinic software for its stock control which
made the recommendation for the web platform an easy one. One of the
technical challenges was to go beyond the rather limited standard
ecommerce integration options so that users did not have to leave the
site to complete their transaction.
The resulting website was designed and developed by i-KOS so that the
catalogue can be fully updated by the staff at head office without
compromising design.
One of the challenges facing any clothing and merchandising website is
to really engage the visitors and show off the details of the goods. For
this reason a really intuitive zoom (+/-) feature was included in the spec
which allows you to go see every stitch.

Client: Bayer Schering Pharma
Background
Bayer AG, based in Leverkusen, Germany, with 106,000 employees
worldwide and a yearly turnover of more than 32billion Euros across its
three main business areas - HealthCare, Material Science and
CropScience. Trading in the UK/Ireland region since 1871, when
Friedrich Bayer first sold his dyestuffs here it, the area has 1,450
employees and 11 operating companies. The company is associated with
some of the world’s biggest brands such as Alka Seltzer and Baby Bio,
and has over 10,000 products; which can be found in virtually every area
of human activity.
Bayer Schering Pharma AG is one of the World’s leading pharmaceutical
companies; specializing in the fields of gynecology and andrology,
diagnostic imaging, oncology and specialized therapeutics. It has been
actively engaged in research and development at the cutting edge of
science ever since the “Green Pharmacy” was founded by Ernst Schering
155 years ago, and today is still tackling the challenges posed by modern
medicine. The brand is the world market leader in hormonal
contraceptives for women - the best example being the birth-control pill,
which many women regard as synonymous with Schering. Their
products are used and trusted by over seven million women around the
world.
Due to the complex and bureaucratic nature of supplying drugs for the
global environment, Bayer apply a stringent and rigourous approval
process for all printed and online material; however the lengthy process
involved to do so frequently means that
emerging developments are not sufficiently catered for when distributing
this material. This is particularly a problem for internal training of sales
representatives; and for this reason Bayer Schering have a dedicated
Learning and Development team, employed forthe sole purpose of
training.

Working with i-KOS
Bayer quickly realised that an online application would be of enormous
benefit to their learning team. Covering such diverse medical areas as
Diagnostic Imaging, Oncology and Andrology, it was apparent that
training using traditional materials would prove to be unmanageable. i-
KOS were invited to tender for a comprehensive E-learning system, with
capacity for unlimited training modules, questions, imagery and user
interaction, for each of the respective business units; to be made
available for the Learning & development team to use and develop into
their learning schedules and seminars.
The application and the agency which provided had to exemplify the
ethos of a company with a significant global presence. After being
selected by Bayer Schering to build the application, i-KOS have
continued to develop additional areas of of the elearning modules and
have just completed their 6th year of work for Bayer.

Client: In Practice Systems Ltd
Background
INPS develops, deploys and supports the Vision clinical system, which is
used extensively within primary care settings and the wider healthcare
environment throughout the UK.
The number of practices using Vision continues to grow significantly
each year, and the system is now used in over 95% of UK primary care
trusts and health boards. Over one quarter of all Vision installations are
based on a centrally hosted, managed service deployment model.
INPS is part of a global organisation operating across 80 countries,
specialising in CRM systems, strategic data, and technologies and
services for the healthcare sector.
Working with i-KOS
INPS’ role within the healthcare sector is vital, providing crucial
information to healthcare practitioners on a daily basis; underpinning
the majority of IT structure in each practice. With such a large
infrastructure, the original website had developed with no dedicated
website strategy, and had grown to a size of unmanageable proportions.
The three distinct business areas had in turn set up and maintained
unique sites to cater for their own specific requirements. INPS sought a
partner who could create an amalgam of the three individual sites, cope
with significant traffic levels from users around the UK, and migrate all
existing data into the new design.
As specialists in Information Architecture, i-KOS were confident that
they could deliver a coherent structure for the site, to enable the end user
to find information in an expedient manner. As software practitioners,
INPS are particularly aware of complexities in undertaking large
projects, and have been forthcoming in their praise for i-KOS’ support
and communication.

Background
Mölnlycke Health Care is one of the world’s leading providers of single-
use surgical and wound care products and services to the healthcare
sector. i-KOS have worked with several of their leading brands and
product managers for a whole host of multimedia and web based
applications.
Their flagship brand - Biogel is the world’s most advanced surgical gloves
(a multi-million € euro business). In 2008, working with the Biogel
international product team, i-KOS were given the brief to deliver a web-
based application whose
purpose was to allow the 300+ mobile work force access to a (multi-
lingual) competitor matrix and databank. The finished application allows
hundred of concurrent users to quickly and intuitively obtain very
detailed comparison data for every manufactured glove (100+). Such
information is vital and enables them to produce reports and build
strong cases for Biogel gloves to be the glove of choice in the dozens of
tenders that are won every week - around the world.
Working with i-KOS
The success and adoption of the aptly named ‘Biogel Matrix’ has paved
the way for a i-KOS to be commissioned to develop a desktop version in
2009. The specification has been agreed and timelines drawn; this
version can then be completely mobile, work off-line and when
connected to the internet automatically check and update specialisations
throughout the UK.

Client: Phoenix Fund Services
Background
Phoenix FS was established in 1998 to offer bespoke investment
administration services to the Investment Trust industry.
On the lead up to their 10th Anniversary Phoenix rapidly expanded to
meet demand and underwent a step-change opening both offshore and
hedge fund administration services for their European based investment
managers.
In 2008 the Phoenix board decided it was time they had a brand to
match their city presence. The pre-qualification stage left i-KOS and four
other agencies with the opportunity to pitch for the branding concept
task.
Working with i-KOS
Such was the enthusiasm generated by this entire process that in October
2008 Phoenix held a special event at the Cabinet War Rooms to herald
the launch of their new brand and UK service offering.
i-KOS have subsequently been retained to redevelop the corporate
website, branding guidelines and are still regularly called upon to
develop new templates, advertisements and other marketing material.
