CREATING A WEBSITE USING WORDPRESS

STEP 1: Google Wordpress and make sure you choose the Wordpress.com link rather than the wordpress.org link.

STEP 2: Click the orange GET STARED HERE link.

STEP 3: Fill out the information for the name of your Blog address. Take note that you can use the .wordpress.com address for free or for $17/year you can make it a .com site.

STEP 4: After you fill out that information you are then prompted to “Check Your Email.

STEP 5: Look for the Wordpress email, open it up and click the “activate your blog” blue link. Which should take you straight to the WordPress Dashboard

STEP 6: On the left hand side is all your options. To make your first blog post click on the POSTS link. That will bring up a list of all your posts. In this case you only have one which is “Hello World” which you can edit.

STEP 7: If you scroll over the Hello World text you will get EDIT options, click on the blue EDIT link. That opens up the Post which you can delete everything in and write your own Title and Text for.

STEP 8: When you are finished editing your post, click UPDATE, which is the blue button on the far right side of the Dashboard.

STEP 9: Notice at the top of the Post window there are little icons, one is a star, another is music notes. This is what you click on to add photos, video, media, etc. to your post.

STEP 10: To see what your Blog looks like so far with your first post, click on the link adjacent to the Dashboard icon at the top of your page. In this example that is “rocexpermental.”
