This is an absolutely stunning piece of concept art, Alice! I mistook it for a CG still for a moment before

    taking a closer look.

Haha, I -love- this character. You didn't go for the typical big, burley, top-heavy guard, but instead went

    for a grumpy old man.

Perhaps it might be best to flatten the feet like clown shoes, but angle them into a sharp point to go

with the rest of the character. Currently, the large, bulbous shape seems out of place.

Funnily enough I did feel that was letting the character down. I have made them a little narrower in my

    storyboard.

Very nice! Sometimes, in character designs, its best to go for a stereotypical design. Loving the whispy,

sharp moustache. I can see him twirling in sinisterly

    TFarringtonFeb 6, 2012 05:33 AM

Oh dear. A pogo-stick, a suit that most likely weights a hundred pounds and a place filled with priceless

artefacts? Things could get very messy very quickly.

The eyebrows and the eyes in the expression sheet seem a little static. For example:

Usually when someone is shocked with their mouth agape, their eyes widen.

Seems to be the same with the eyebrows for 'sad' and 'smiling'. When someone is sad, their eyebrows

would typically arc downwards in a gradual 'U' curve and the opposite when happy.

However, I love the overall design of the character. Glad to see you didn't go for the typical brightly-

dressed clown with a big, red nose and in huge shoes.

I was just thinking the same as Tom. The character is brilliant though.

The expressions of the pianist seem a little same-y all around. Perhaps a little more exaggeration of the

angles of the eyebrows and the mouth would make his expressions more convincing.

Great job Tom! and the music fits your story perfectly.

This is a lovely storyboard Tom! It's so clear as well, looking forward to seeing it in action :D

    This is stunning Tom!!

    OllieNichollsFeb 23, 2012 01:59 PM

I really like the toymaker. He even has the posture of someone who has spent years hunched over a

    work desk making toys.

    OllieNichollsFeb 11, 2012 06:59 AM

This is fantastic Tom! Its resonant of the neglect of the toys in Toy Story and the love Pinnochio has for

his creator yet its completely unique. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this :)

Great references of the mannequins Tom. The long and thin limbs with the short torso make the figure

    look spindly and almost creepy.

Your top sketches look similar to that of the robot in 'iRobot'. Though they don't function the same it is

worth a look at, in terms of motion and character design, if you are still looking towards that design.

That's a very well thought out scene, clearly showing you've thought of very camera shot and angle. It's

quite long though, as Jackie pointed out, but it's better to have something long and cut it down than to

have not enough and cut nothing. You have some very nice ideas in here and I look forward to seeing it

    progress.
