Section 1: About Certification and the CPLP Program What is Certification? Professional certification is a voluntary act by a professional body or association. It establishes a system to grant recognition to professionals who have met certification standards. A certification is not a certificate. Certification programs focus on testing, whereas certificate programs focus on learning. The latter typically results in a certificate of attendance or completion and is not always based on testing.
Certification results in a credential that provides some level of assurance that people can do what they claim and offers a number of benefits to various stakeholders.

What is the CPLP Credential?
The Certified Professional in Learning and Performance credential (CPLP) is a credential for workplace learning and performance professionals offered by the ASTD Certification Institute (ASTD CI). The credential is broad-based in scope and addresses a Workplace Learning and Performance Professionals knowledge and performance achievements in nine areas of expertise (AOEs) as defined by the ASTD Competency Model1

Candidates earn the credential by meeting program requirements and passing a rigorous examination and evaluation process. Candidates who earn the designation are recognized as elite players in the Workplace Learning and Performance field and are awarded the right to display the CPLP designation after their name.
Section 2: CPLP Credentialing Process The CPLP program involves a three step process whereby candidates must do the following:
Following is a summary of the requirements for each step.
A. Eligibility and Readiness Requirements Step 1 of the process involves candidates determining their eligibility and readiness for the program. In order to apply for the CPLP program candidates must have a minimum of three years related experience in the workplace learning and performance field; however, five or more years of related experience is recommended. Proof of experience is captured as part of the application process where candidates are asked to provide a list of employers who can validate their employment for at least the past three years (candidates may substitute one year relevant education for one year of relevant work experience). Candidates who are found to be ineligible to participate in the program may reapply when they become eligible.
Candidates are encouraged to do a personal assessment of their situation in order to determine if pursuit of the CPLP designation is the right choice for them. As part of the assessment process, candidates should consider the following:

B. Knowledge Exam Basics Step 2 of the CPLP certification process involves candidates passing a knowledge exam which is designed to measure their breadth of knowledge in the learning and performance field. The exam contains 150 multiple-choice questions which focus on the nine AOE areas of the ASTD Competency Model. Candidates will have two hours and thirty minutes to complete the exam.
The test is administered by computer at ASTD CI authorized testing centers. At present these centers are located in most major cities throughout the United States and Canada; however, ASTD CI has plans to expand the program to select overseas locations. Candidates should check the ASTD CI Website for an up-to-date listing of centers.

Knowledge Exam Scoring
Exam scores and information for interpreting scores are part of the computerized testing process and are reported to candidates immediately upon completion of the exam. Individuals who fail the exam are invited and encouraged to retake the exam during the next available testing window. A retest fee will apply.
Note: Candidates may not retake the Knowledge Exam in the same testing window or their scores will be invalid.

Taking the Exam: Tips for Success The following information provides some basic study and test-taking tips to help candidates prepare for the exam.
Study Suggestions
On average most candidates spend a minimum of 812 weeks to prepare for the knowledge exam. When preparing candidates should keep the following suggestions in mind:
Create a realistic study schedule tied to the AOE areas and how they are weighted on the exam. Review the AOE areas, evaluate your knowledge level, and concentrate on improving weak areas.
Recognize that you can not memorize all the material; use memory techniques to help you recall key points.
This test does not focus on names or dates. Focus on the application of accepted principles and theories, not on memorizing names and dates.
Take notes to help reinforce key concepts.

Test-Taking Tips
Do whatever you need to do before the test to feel comfortable and relaxed: check out the location in advance, get enough rest, eat a good meal, etc.
Arrive earlyat least 20 minutes before your scheduled test time Trust your first impressions; dont over analyze answers. If you are uncertain about a question, return to it later, or guess. Dont look for answer patterns. Dont select an answer based on length; its a false clue. Dont rush. Consider each choice before selecting the best one. Use your time well. You do not receive extra points for finishing early. Make every attempt to answer all the questions. Each item is worth one point and there is no
penalty for guessing.

C. Work Product Overview Step 3 is designed to introduce the candidate to the work product. It addresses the three main components of the work product submission and how it is scored. It also helps candidates to decide which work product is right for them.
After passing the knowledge exam, candidates are provided with an opportunity to demonstrate their work competence in one particular AOE area by preparing and submitting a sample or segment of work called a work product. The work product submission must be (1) based on a current project completed within the past three years (starting from the date one completes the Knowledge Exam), (2) related to one of the AOEs that are currently available for submission; (3) a candidates own work and, (because the CPLP program is based on North American practices), (4) presented in English.

Components
For the work product submission, candidates will need to complete three different components:
Project Work (Work Product) and Project Essays Candidates provide a sample of their project work and answer eight related essay questions which enable them to provide rationale and documentation to support their project sample.
Follow-on/Challenge Questions Candidates respond to two follow-on/challenge essay questions that are completely independent of their project work. One question is strategic in nature; the other is operational or tactical in its focus.
Standard Forms Candidates complete a number of other forms such as a contact information form and release and permission forms designed to protect all parties legally.
These will be discussed in detail later in this section.

As for point values, 3 is outstanding, 2 is successful, 1 is limited success, and a 0 is blank or off-topic. Scores for the first four categories are assigned by the raters according to the rubrics that are provided in Appendix E of the Candidate Bulletin. Candidates are advised to refer to these criteria when developing their work products.
There are several events that are considered a critical flaw. A critical flaw results in the disqualification of the work product submission or automatic failure. Critical flaws include the following:
receiving a score of 0 in any area (planning, output, relationships, outcomes, or either challenge question)

picking an outdated project (completed more than three years ago) submitting an incomplete package missing the deadline

Notification
Candidates will be notified in writing as to their scores. Candidates will receive a score for each of the six areas listed in Table 2, a total score, and a status of pass or fail. The score report does not contain any qualitative feedback or interpretive remarks. In accordance with accepted certification program standards, this level of feedback is strictly prohibited because it raises issues around fairness and test security.
Project Work and Project Essays
The work project selected must be current (conducted within the last three years) and must be selected from one of the six available AOE areas. The following table lists what type of project needs to be submitted for each AOE and what specific documentation is required for each project:

The project essays are designed to help supplement the project work. They provide context, rationale, and further documentation and are designed to be coupled with the review of the project. The score is based by viewing the work product and the responses to the eight project essay questions, in concert. The eight project essay questions are grouped into four buckets: planning, outputs, relationships, and outcomes. To help guide the raters to the right location in the project, candidates will need to complete a Reference Map (included in the Work Product Application Template Form) which pinpoints the precise location the specific evidence can be found.

Follow-on/Challenge Question
There are two follow-on/challenge questions. One is strategic in nature; the other is operational in nature. These must be answered completely independent of the work product. Responses to these questions give the raters sufficient information to judge whether or not the candidate can generalize their knowledge beyond their work product. Situational judgment and perspective is vitally important for workplace learning professionals to have.
SPECIAL REMINDER The challenge questions are not designed to be linked to the work product project; therefore, responses to these questions should to be addressed from a hypothetical perspective.
Standard Forms
These include contact forms and permission/release forms to legally protect all parties. Candidates will need to have signatures from filmed participants and any project stakeholder (including your project sponsors/organization, etc.) sign a release form.

Forms and detailed guidelines, including how to package the work product, are contained in Chapter 5 and 6 of the Candidate Bulletin. Chapter 6 is separated by AOE, so candidates should pick the one that applies to their selected AOE area.

Careful planning is an important part of the certification process so candidates should be sure to study the dates below in order to ensure that they allow enough time to apply, study for the exam, and prepare for their work product submission.

create their own materials using the Knowledge Exam Content Outline (See Appendix B of the Candidate Bulletin)
find resources on the internet (study materials, workshops, study groups, etc.) or use third party materials

Section 6: Maintaining the Credential The CPLP Recertification Program The CPLP credential is valid for three years; therefore, CPLP designees must recertify during each three year recertification period in order to maintain their designation. The recertification cycle begins the first day of the month after notification of CPLP success. Designees may either retest or earn recertification points by participating in professional development activities. Section 1: Code of Ethics Candidates must agree to the ASTD CI Code of Ethics, which describes the behavior expected of a workplace learning and performance (WLP) professional. Clients and employers insist on the highest possible standards of personal integrity, professional competence, sound judgment, and discretion. Section 2: Candidate Agreements Candidates must sign the Applicant Declaration and Release and the Intent to Participate agreements, which are as follows:
A. Applicant Declaration & Release I hereby submit this application to the ASTD Certification Institute (or the ASTD CI) to be a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) in accordance with and subject to the ASTD CI's standards, rules, policies and procedures. I understand that the information gathered in the certification process may be used by the ASTD CI and/or ASTD for statistical purposes for the evaluation of the certification program, or for other research or study. I further understand that the ASTD CI will use reasonable efforts to keep the information in its possession confidential. I understand that the ASTD CI reserves the right to verify any or all of the information associated with or required by this application, and that providing false or misleading information, omitting required information, or otherwise violating the rules of certification, or other appropriate disciplinary action. I further understand that I must immediately inform the ASTD CI of any changed circumstances that may affect this application and the information that has been provided, or that may affect my continuing certification eligibility.
I understand that I can be disqualified from taking or completing the examination, or from receiving examination scores if the ASTD CI determines through either proctor observation or statistical analysis that I have engaged in collaborative, disruptive or other inappropriate behavior during administration of the examination or in the completion of the work product assessment. I agree that I will not list my passing status on any professional stationary or business cards, nor will I use it in any advertising until I have passed both parts (the knowledge-based exam and the Work Product assessment) of the ASTD CI CPLP Program.

In consideration of my application to and participation in the ASTD CI's CPLP Program, I, the undersigned, do hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless individually and collectively the ASTD CI, ASTD, and their officers, directors, employees, committee and commission members, members, subsidiaries, agents, successors, and assigns, from any and all liability that may arise, directly or indirectly now or in the future, by reason of or in connection with any decision, action or omission relating to this application, the failure of the ASTD CI to grant certification or recertification to me, the revocation of my certification, or the ASTD CI's certification standards. This release and wavier of liability shall be binding on my heirs, executors, administrators, successors, and assigns.
I also understand and agree that in considering this application, the ASTD CI may make inquiry of such persons or entities, inspect such records, and make and retain copies of such materials as the ASTD CI deems appropriate. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, I hereby authorize the ASTD CI to make such inquiries regarding my fitness for certification and authorize any persons or entities contacted by the ASTD CI to respond to such inquiries and provide copies of any relevant and non-confidential information to the ASTD CI. I will provide a professional demographic profile to be used for research purposes and collected at the time of examination.
I will pay a non-refundable, fee in the amount specified in the program materials. I meet the eligibility requirements. I have at least three years relevant combined
education/experience in the WLP field (one year relevant education may be substituted for one year relevant experience).
I give my permission for ASTD CI to release my name publicly if I obtain the CPLP credential.
I have read and understand all the CPLP program materials and the CPLP requirements, including but not limited to the refund, transfer, deadlines, and appeals policies.
In return, all participating professionals will be provided:
a seat and score report for the CPLP knowledge-based exam score for the CPLP work product, provided a passing score is received on the knowledge-
based exam.
Note: the administration fee is non-refundable unless ASTD CI does not fulfill the aforementioned terms. All candidates are expected to participate in all aspects of the program for which they are eligible.

Withdrawal $100 Candidates must withdraw from the program by the last day of the registration window to be eligible for a refund. Refunds are made for the full amount of the testing fees minus the administrative fee. Allow 30 days for refunds processing. ASTD membership fees will not be reimbursed.
Exam Reschedule $100 An administrative fee is charged when a candidate reschedules their knowledge-based exam appointment with fewer than three business days notice. The rescheduled test appointment must be made during the same testing window or it will be considered a transfer. Rescheduling requests are subject to availability.
Transfer $225 A transfer fee is charged when a candidate transfers from one test window to another.
Resending Challenge Questions
$50 An administrative fee is charged for resending challenge questions.
Resending Score Reports
$50 An administrative fee is charged for resending score reports.
Special Accommodation Request
No additional charge
There is no extra fee to request a special accommodation at the testing center as long as procedures in the Candidate Bulletin have been followed.
Retest Fee $350 This is the fee to retake either the knowledge-based exam and/or the work product exam after receiving a failing score.

Eligibility To be eligible for the CPLP, candidates must provide evidence that they have at least three years of industry-related work experience when they apply. Candidates may substitute one year of industry-related education for one year of industry-related work experience.
Testing Sequence Candidates must take and pass the knowledge-based exam first. They must then submit a work product and responses to challenge questions.
Retest If you wish to retake the knowledge-based exam, you must wait until the next testing window. If you wish to re-submit your work product, you must submit an entirely different work product in the next testing window. Retake fees must be remitted each time you retake a certification exam.
Score Expiration Passing scores for the knowledge-based exam are valid for up to two years from the date the exam was successfully completed.
Recertification Certification maintenance (recertification) is required every three years. The recertification period begins on the first day of the month after you pass the work product submission exam.
Section 5: Appeals Procedures and Appeals Form The following information pertains to the appeals procedures as it relates to candidate eligibility, the knowledge-based exam, and the work product submission.
A. Appeals Procedure: Eligibility An individual may appeal the denial of eligibility to enter the CPLP program by submitting a written appeal to the CPLP staff at ASTD CI:

1. Appeals must be made in writing within 10 days of the denial. 2. ASTD CI will confirm receipt of all appeals within 30 days of receipt. All appeals are
confidential. ASTD CI will attempt to address all appeals within 60 days of receipt in accordance with the guidelines developed by ASTD CI. It is the applicants responsibility to contact ASTD CI if he or she has not received notification of the outcome after the deadline has passed.
3. Only information concerning the denial of eligibility to enter the program will be the subject of this appeal.
4. If the panel determines that, despite any additional information provided by the applicant, he or she would not be eligible to sit for the exam, ASTD CI will recommend to the appeals committee that the request be denied.
5. If ASTD CI finds that good cause may exist to re-evaluate eligibility, it will recommend to the appeals committee that the appeal be granted and the applicants eligibility be re-evaluated.
6. The appeals committee will review all evidence provided by the applicant, as well as the recommendations from ASTD CI, and may require further evidence or documentation from the applicant.
7. The decision of the appeals committee is final.
B. Appeals Procedure: Knowledge-Based Exam An individual may appeal the results of their knowledge-based exam by submitting a written appeal to ASTD CI by email to [email protected] or by mail to:

1. A CPLP candidate must submit all appeals in writing within 10 days of taking the exam using the CPLP Appeal Form. Appeals received after 10 days will not be reviewed. No exceptions will be made.
2. ASTD CI will confirm receipt of all appeals within 5 days. ASTD CI will attempt to address all appeals within 30 days of receipt in accordance with the appeals procedure. It is the applicants responsibility to contact ASTD CI if he or she has not received notification of the outcome after 30 days.

3. While ASTD CI understands that stressors and circumstances can prevent candidates from performing their best, under no circumstances will scores be raised. Problems that will not be considered include, but are not limited to, the following: inclement weather, test anxiety or illness, unusual circumstances or conditions, and standard test center challenges.
4. If the appeal cannot be addressed directly by ASTD CI, it will be referred to the appeals committee. The appeals committee will review the relevant evidence provided by the applicant along with any ASTD CI staff recommendations. On occasion, the appeals committee will request further evidence or documentation from the candidate. If this is the case, candidates will be contacted by a CI staff member for follow up information.
5. If the appeal is granted, an opportunity to retest during the next review window with the retest fee waived is the only resolution. The score will not be changed.
6. If the appeal is denied, there is no further action or recourse 7. The decision of the appeals committee is final.

1. A CPLP candidate must submit all appeals in writing within 10 days of the date on the score report using the CPLP Appeals Form. Appeals received after 10 days will not be reviewed. No exceptions will be made.
2. Appeals that are related to late submissions will not be considered. 3. ASTD CI will confirm receipt of all appeals within 5 days. ASTD CI will attempt to address all
appeals within six weeks of receipt in accordance with the appeals procedures. It is the candidates responsibility to contact ASTD CI if he or she has not received notification of the outcomes after six weeks.
4. If the appeal cannot be addressed directly by ASTD CI, it will be referred to the appeals committee. The appeals committee will review the relevant evidence provided by the applicant along with any ASTD CI staff recommendations. On occasion, the appeals committee will

request further evidence or documentation from the candidate. If this is the case, candidates will be contacted by a CI staff member for follow up information.
5. While ASTD CI understands that stressors and circumstances can prevent candidates from submitting their best work, under no circumstances will scores be raised as a remedy for an appeal. The rating process has systems in place to ensure that each work product is rated equitably by two independent raters, with arbitration undertaken by a third rater only if the first two raters have substantive disagreements.
6. If the appeal is granted, an opportunity to resubmit the work product during the next review window with the retest fee waived is the only resolution. The score will not be changed.
7. If the appeal is denied, there is no further action or recourse. 8. The decision of the appeals committee is final.

Section 1: Scheduling the Exam For information about the specific test scheduling process and locations, consult the ASTD CI Website for the latest information. Our testing provider is Kryterion. Kryterion offers authorized testing centers in U.S. and Canada. The following policies pertain to the scheduling of your testing appointment:
You must schedule your test at least 30 days in advance of the first day of the testing window to guarantee a testing seat.
If you need to reschedule your exam appointment, you must do so at least three business days in advance to avoid a rescheduling fee. The rescheduling fee may be waived in cases of extreme illness or a death in the family if appropriate documentation is provided.
If a test administration is cancelled because of weather conditions or other major difficulties, the test center will, whenever possible, contact you and rescheduled another appointment without charge.

Section 2: Special Accommodation Arrangements If you require special testing arrangements under the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990, you must submit a written request at the time you apply to the program. Your written request must contain information from a qualified medical professional with details about your special accommodation needs.
Special accommodations may include, but are not limited to, additional time, screen magnification, reader services, and separate room availability for those who are unable to sit in the testing room. Examples of circumstances where special accommodations may be necessary include but are not limited to: attention deficit disorder (ADD); physical challenges such as pregnancy, incontinence, or severe allergies; visual impairment; or, physical impairments such as muscular dystrophy. For additional information on this subject, please contact [email protected].
The following process should be used if special accommodations are needed:
1. Notify the certification staff at [email protected] immediately that you plan to request an accommodation and approximate date that you will be submitting documentation at the time you apply. Include the following: list ADA request in the subject identify your special condition request your specific accommodation final approval is granted upon receipt of the required documentation.
2. Required documentation must come on official letterhead of a licensed or certified professional qualified to diagnose and treat the special condition. There must be a brief description of the condition and special accommodation requested.
3. Send the documentation via email to [email protected] with subject: ADA request or request a fax number.
4. Your request, along with the documentation, will be reviewed upon receipt to determine if the accommodation will be granted within 5 business days.
IMPORTANT! This request is time-sensitive. You may not schedule your test until your documentation has been approved. You may not request an accommodation directly from the testing provider or testing center. If an accommodation was granted without ASTD CI approval, your score will be invalidated. This policy is in place to ensure uniform treatment and fairness to all candidates.

Your Test Taker Authorization Code which can be found in the candidate authorization email that you will receive when you register to take the exam. You MUST bring your Test Taker Authorization Code or the proctor WILL NOT be able to launch your exam.
Personal Identification Requirements
You must present an acceptable form of identification at the test center or you will not be admitted. You must use the form of your name that appears on your personal identification on all of your CPLP materials. Do not change the spelling and do not change the order of your name. If your name has changed since you registered for the examination, you must bring documentation of that change (for example, a marriage license) with you. A primary and secondary form of identification will be required. Both pieces of identification must contain your signature, and one must contain a recent photograph of you. Types of acceptable ID are as follows:

Section 4: Testing Center Rules You should arrive at the test center at least 20 minutes before your scheduled testing time. If you arrive 15 minutes after your scheduled appointment, you may be required to forfeit your appointment, reregister for testing, and pay an additional examination fee.
Waiting areas at the test centers are small. Friends or relatives who accompany you to the test center will not be permitted to wait in the test center or contact you while you are taking the exam.
Testing center staff will follow designated procedures to ensure that operation of the test center meets CPLP criteria for standardized testing. These procedures include monitoring of exam candidates by staff observation or video/audio monitoring.
To ensure that all candidates earn their results under comparable conditions, a standardized testing environment is maintained. Except where permitted by special accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, none of the following are permitted in the testing room:

papers books food and drink calculators smoking materials you will not be permitted access to the following items:
purses, wallets, briefcases, backpacks, bags (please keep your identification with you at all times)

Section 5: Exam Copyright All proprietary rights in the examinations including copyright and trade secret are held by ASTD CI. In order to protect the integrity of the examinations and to ensure the validity of the scores that are reported, you must adhere to strict guidelines regarding proper conduct in handling the copyrighted, proprietary information. Any attempt to reproduce all or part of an examination is strictly prohibited by law. Such attempts include, but are not limited to, removing materials from the examination room; aiding others in reconstructing any portion of an examination by any means; or selling, distributing, receiving, or having unauthorized possession of any portion of an exam. The contents of this test are copyrighted, proprietary, and confidential. Disclosure or reproduction of any portion of it to any individual or entity for any purpose whatsoever is prohibited. Such activity will result in the invalidation of test scores and may result in civil and/or criminal prosecution.
I can be disqualified from taking or continuing to sit for an examination, or from receiving examination results, or my scores might be canceled if there is substantial reason to believe through proctor observations, statistical analysis, and/or other evidence that my score may not be valid or that I was engaged in collaborative, disruptive, or other unacceptable behavior during the administration of this examination.

Section 7: Grounds for Dismissal Any candidate who does not have proper identification, who uses unauthorized aids, or who does not follow the testing procedures can be dismissed from the test center. ASTD CI may choose to have the test scores of such candidates cancelled.
Candidates who engage in misconduct and do not heed the administrators warning to discontinue the behavior may be dismissed from the test center. All of the following behaviors are considered to be misconduct:
giving or receiving assistance of any kind using any unauthorized aids attempting to take the examination for someone else failing to follow testing regulations or the instructions of the test administrator creating a disturbance of any kind removing or attempting to remove examination questions and/or responses (in any format) or
notes about the examination from the testing room tampering with the operation of the computer or attempting to use it for any function other
than taking the examination.
Before an exam is canceled for misconduct, the test administrator notifies the candidate, who is given an opportunity to provide additional information. The test administrator then has the following options:
1. Dismiss the candidate and file a report with ASTD CI describing the action and the reasons for dismissal.
2. Allow the candidate to continue and file an irregularity report with ASTD CI describing his or her observations.
In either event, ASTD CI will review that candidates test record.

Section 8: Exam Complaints/Comments If you have complaints or comments about any matter related to the testing program, complete the exit evaluation questionnaire on the computer at the testing center or write to:

Your letter must be postmarked within ten days of your test completion date to be accepted. Include your name, address, telephone number, email address, the name and date of the test, the location of the testing center and the name of the Proctor (if known).
Exit evaluation questionnaires and letters will be reviewed by ASTD CI, which reserves the right to determine in what manner to address issues, including the right to respond to complaints on a case-by-case basis. Because of item security, ASTD CI will not provide details about a test question itself.
Section 9: Exam Results Exam scores and information for interpreting your score are part of the computerized testing process and therefore reported immediately upon completion of the exam.

AOE 2: Delivering Training Your Delivering Training work product must include a recording of a learning session in which you demonstrate competencies related to delivering and facilitating learning. You must submit both of the following:
1. A VHS videotape, CD, or DVD of a 20-minute instructor-led classroom or synchronous e-learning session from a single module.
2. A facilitators guide for the 20-minute session on the video, CD, or DVD.
As defined by CPLP guidelines, a learning session is a short segment within a longer learning event. One learning activity cannot serve as the entire learning session. The session may take place in a classroom or a web-based setting. The session must

Media Requirements
Synchronous e-learning
Information must be provided in a format that will not require specialized software to view the recording.
A link to an external Website to view the lesson will not be accepted. Recordings of synchronous e-learning must capture both audio and
computer activity of the session. If the software used records instructor and learner audio directly, it is not
necessary to submit a video recording of the instructor. If the software used captures only the computer interaction, then a video
recording that contains the audio from the instructor and the learners, such as on the telephone, may be submitted.
Recording Instructions: The learning session must be recorded in the sequence in which it is presented.
The recording of the learning session may be paused a maximum of 3 times to exclude the recording of a non-facilitated segment. Examples of non-facilitated segments include exercises that learners complete independently and small group discussions.
The setup of the learning activity should be clearly established, and the learners should begin their task before the recording is paused (for example, the small group discussion is observable for 20-30 seconds).
The recording of the learning session should be resumed approximately 30 seconds prior to the end of the non-facilitated segment to illustrate all segment transitions.
Editing of the recorded learning session is not permitted. Editing is defined as the physical and/or digital splicing of multiple segments into a single tape.

AOE 4: Measuring and Evaluating An appropriate Measuring and Evaluating work product is a report in which you have measured and evaluated at least one learning event. The competencies for this AOE revolve around the following:
1. Designing the research based on stakeholder needs 2. Gathering and analyzing the data 3. Preparing recommendations based on the analysis
The report must fully describe the evaluation project conducted. A meta-analysis, summary of others research, or a needs assessment is not acceptable.
Note: It is important that the evaluation focus on a learning event and not some other topic. If it addresses another topic, consider submitting in a different area.
A complete evaluation report often contains the components shown in the following table. Use the information in this table for guidance only; it is not meant to be prescriptive.

AOE 6: Managing the Learning Function Introduction Managing the Learning Function (MTLF) covers activities that range from leadership to managerial and from strategic to operational in nature. Accordingly, there are two work product tracks within MTLF. These are designed to give candidates maximum flexibility.
Track 1: This track is intended for someone who leads the learning function and is responsible for learning as a business or learning strategy. As an example, for this track, you might choose to submit a report that summarizes your role and key deliverables that you have produced as a learning leader. Or, you might submit a report and documentation related to a strategic initiative that you have led.
Track 2: This track is intended for someone who manages or oversees learning projects. The project could involve the development and/or implementation of a learning product or service. As an example, for this track, you might submit a report/ documentation and key deliverables for a learning project that you have managed.
Project Selection When picking your project, ask yourself: whats the difference between a MTLF and a Designing Learning work product submission? The main difference is that in Designing Learning, you must have actually designed and developed the materials you submit. If you submit under MTLF, you must have played a major role in overseeing the development or leading the learning function, but you do not have to develop the materials yourself. Thus, the focus is different. One involves more of a hands-on development or technical role, whereas the other involves more of a managerial or leadership role.
After deciding which area to submit in (whether it be MTLF or Designing Learning) and which track you want (track 1 or track 2), think about specific projects. Which specific projects might you choose? What tangible outputs/evidence might you submit?
Then ask yourself:
