For your prayers this week Dick Lucco undergoing a new chemotherapy treatment and awaiting results from scans he underwent at the end of December Jim Hosek anticipating the beginning of his next round of chemotherapy treatments Rosemary Slaughterrsquos nephew and his wife Brandon and Lindsey Harms both diagnosed with COVID Margaret Johnson Nancy Ebnerrsquos mother recov-ering from hip surgery Susan Guttormsenrsquos father-in-law Richard Guttormsen declining in health Herb Hedstrom home from the hospital and recovering from bacterial pneumonia Andrew Clausonrsquos parents Herb and Elaine Clauson both recovering from COVID Pastor Libbyrsquos dad Craig John-son anticipating surgery on his epiglottis tomorrow Fred Holmgren diagnosed with COVID Sandy Edstromrsquos grandson Matt Carlson his girlfriend and his roommate all diagnosed with COVID Barb Goodersquos nephew Kendall King home after being hospitalized for a plasma cell tumor that caused a break in his vertebrae and awaiting test results to determine treatment Roger Nelson improving in health Pastor Cody and Lauren Taylorrsquos friend Sarah Lindsey undergoing chemotherapy healthcare workers and first responders who regularly sacrifice their own health and the health of their families to care for sick patients

Coffee Hour has a new dimension In a world affected by COVID itrsquos easy to feel disconnected Please join our Zoom coffee hour immediately following worship beginning Sunday January 17 The format will be that of a few discussion questions based on the dayrsquos sermon Our time together will last about 20 minutes This new dimension to coffee hour will allow us to see friendly faces and contribute ideas and insights We hope to see you there as we stay connected in this often-isolating time

Continue Heartwalking the Neighborhood with us in 2021 Prayer is needed so very much in these difficult days so we have decided to continue heartwalking the neighbor-hood in the coming year We will include an im-age of the location to pray for each week in the hopes that you will pray for them as you walk or drive by or even as you sit in your living room See this weekrsquos location at right Thank you for praying for our neighborhood

The Hollywood North Park Community Association had a preliminary meeting on December 17 to solicit community input about redeveloping the block of Bryn Mawr between Kimball and Bernard (currently owned by NEIU) There will be a follow-up meeting on Thursday January 21 at 7 pm (via Zoom) This meeting is intended to create a sig-nificant opportunity for dialogue among mem-bers of the community and the University You can find details on how to participate at wwwhnpcaorg The BCC encourages you to com-plete this Community Survey by January 14 so the HNPCA can include your views in the discussion Prior to completing the survey you might find a review of any of the following December 17 meeting materials to be helpfulbull detailed minutes bull the presentation slides bull a video recording

The North Park Readers will meet on Tuesday January 26 at 7 pm via Zoom to discuss John Stein-beckrsquos short novel The Pearl In this retelling of an old Mexican folk tale a diver finds a magnificent pearl which he dreams will promise a better life for his impoverished family His dream blinds him to the greed and suspicions the pearl arouses in him and his neighbors leading to tragedy We invite you to join the Zoom conversation and if you are not currently on our email list you may contact Jan Olson at janiceolson65gmail to be added to the list

The first half of the Annual Congregational Meeting will be held virtually on Sunday January 31 following the online worship service Items on the agenda include 1 the approval of the budget for 2021 2 the presentation of the annual report for 2020 3 vote for approving the nominating committee

The North Park Readers will meet on Tuesday January 26 at 7 pm via Zoom to discuss John Stein-beckrsquos short novel The Pearl In this retelling of an old Mexican folk tale a diver finds a magnificent pearl which he dreams will promise a better life for his impoverished family His dream blinds him to the greed and suspicions the pearl arouses in him and his neighbors leading to tragedy We invite you to join the Zoom conversation and if you are not currently on our email list you may contact Jan Olson at janiceolson65gmail to be added to the list

The first half of the Annual Congregational Meeting will be held virtually on Sunday January 31 following the online worship service Items on the agenda include 1 the approval of the budget for 2021 2 the presentation of the annual report for 2020 3 vote for approving the nominating committee
