Championships were launched on Monday, May 21st, in the scenic

surroundings of Fota Island Golf Club, hosted by Carrigtwohill GAA.

Players representing last year's County Senior Quarter-Finalists, Premier

Intermediate and Intermediate Finalists and the County Junior Hurling

Champions were in attendance at the launch, accompanied by their team

Munster Championships Launch The Munster Championships were launched at Mallow GAA Club on

Monday, May 14th, with Uachtarán Liam Ó Néill in attendance, alson

with special guest Pat Spillane. Various discount ticket packages were

announced; for details, see www.gaacork.ie or contact your local club.

Cork open their Munster SFC campaign against Kerry or Tipperary on

June 10th in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, while the Cork hurlers must wait until

June 24th, when they play Tipperary or Limerick at either Páirc Uí

Chaoimh or the Gaelic Grounds.

recently won €10,000 in the Cork GAA Clubs' Draw!

Player of the Month Award: Colm O’Neill Congratulations to Colm O’Neill, recent winner of the GAA/GPA Opel

Player of the Month Award for football. O'Neill, who returned to action

this year following a cruciate knee ligament injury last season, capped a

memorable Football League Final performance with his fourth goal of the

campaign, helping Cork to their third successive title.

Cork GAA Open Evening A big thank you to all the Cork supporters, young and old, who helped

make our recent Open Evening a great success!!

All fans who turned up were presented with special posters, which were

then signed by all the players present. Everyone got to have a chat with

our Inter-County stars, including football captain Graham Canty, dual

star Eoin Cadogan, Newtownshandrum duo Cathal Naughton and Jamie

Coughlan, and many more.

Report A presentation was

Board meeting by Orla

ConnectIreland, who

explained the project.

The Progress Report

was adopted, and some

discussion took place on

matters relating to

Minor hurling and

football, which are to be

returned to at a later

date following

consultation with

management etc.

next meeting takes

place on Tue, June 5th.

County Leagues The County Leagues

are progressing well,

with 52% of games now

played across all

leagues. However,

league activity has

dropped to very low

levels during the

summer months in

recent years, and clubs

are urged to play

league games when the

opportunity arises. All

100th 96FM C103 RPH Sports Award Michael Shields, Cork and St. Finbarr's footballer, was the recipient of

the 96FM C103 Rochestown Park Hotel Sports Award for April, in

recognition of his contribution to Cork's win in the Allianz League Division

1 Final, their third in succession.

Michael has the distinction of winning the 100th award, presented at a

special function at Rochestown Park Hotel on May 11th. Current Cork

football captain, Graham Canty, was the first winner in his role as captain

of the Ireland International Rules team that won the series in Australia.

Lord Mayor’s Cup Football Congratulations to Presentation Brothers' College, recent winners of

the Lord Mayor's Cup (Football). Pres defeated CBC in the final, played at

Páirc Uí Rinn, on a scoreline of 2-12 to 3-7.
