County U21 A Hurling Final Congratulations to Midleton on winning the County U21 A Hurling Final on
Sunday, November 20th at Páirc Uí Rinn, their first victory in this
championship in 22 years. Despite a gallant Duhallow effort, Midleton
claimed the Dick Barrett Cup on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-8, to complete
this year’s championship programme.

December 10th at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.The Convention Mass will begin at
6pm, with Convention commencing at 7pm.
The annual report and motions for convention etc. will be sent to clubs in
due course.

96Fm C103 Rochestown Park Hotel Sports Award for Vincent Hurley
Congratulations to Vincent Hurley of Courcey Rovers, winner of the
96Fm C103 Rochestown Park Hotel Sports Award for October.
Vincent was honoured for his contribution to his club's County Premier
Intermediate Hurling Final victory, and received his award at a
function at Rochestown Park Hotel on Friday, November 18th.

New Referees Complete Course A number of new referees have completed a recent course organised
by County Referees’ Administrator, John Motherway and delivered by
well known former Inter-County referee, Pat Moore of Waterford.
The newly-qualified referees received presentations on the final night
of the course, which ran over four weeks, and are now ready to begin

Development Squad Medal Presentations
Coiste na nOg, the new under-age board for Cork GAA, hosted this
major celebration to mark to success of our Development Squads in
2011, attended by 225 players and their families. Cork Development
Squads were successful in winning the U14 Sonny Walsh Hurling in
Waterford. The U15 ‘A’ team were winners in the Carrigdhoun while the
‘B’s brought home the Clare Tournament. For the first time in the
history of the tournament Cork’s U16s brought home double success
from the Tipperary All-Ireland Tournament winning both the ‘A’ and ‘B’
competitions.

Our footballers’ success included the U14s winning Section 2 of the Jim
Power tournament in Waterford. The U15 Cork West team won the
Humphrey Kelleher tournament. In the Munster Council U16
tournament, the Cork lads were successful in the double here as well as
they won the ‘A’ and ‘B’ tournament. Cork become the first County ever
to win the ‘Double Double’ by winning both 16 A and B competitions in

At the County Board
meeting of November
22nd, it was decided
that the format of the
County Championships
would remain
unchanged, with start
dates to be decided
when Inter-County
dates have been
confirmed. Marc
Sheehan was appointed
Children’s Officer. It
was decided that the
schedule of meetings
should not be changed,
but a motion will be
submitted to
Convention extending
voting rights to Junior
Club. A motion
changing the transfer
bye-law to allow U16s
to transfer after 48
weeks inactive will also
be put to Convention.
Draws were made for
Inter-Divisional
championships 2012

details), and the latest
Ard-Comhairle report
was discussed and will
be sent to all clubs.

Boardwalk Award for Niall McCarthy Carrigtwohill star hurler Niall McCarthy is the Boardwalk Bar and Grill
Sports Star of the month award winner for October.
McCarthy was chosen by the judges for his superb inspirational
performance in the Cork county senior hurling championship final where
he played the key role in his side's dramatic win over CIT, and collected
his award at a recent luncheon at the Boardwalk Bar & Grill.

Munster U21 Awards for Cork Stars! Cork dominated the Under 21 Bord Gáis Energy Munster GAA Awards
for 2011, with winners in hurling and football from the county
announced recently.
Cork's dual star Aidan Walsh (Kanturk) has scooped the Under 21
Hurler of the Year while the highly talented Ciarán Sheehan (Eire Og)
was crowned Under 21 Footballer of the Year.
The players will be receiving their awards at the upcoming Bord Gáis
Energy Munster GAA Awards which is taking place on 3 December in
the Malton Hotel, Killarney. Speaking on the announcement of the Under 21 and Minor winners for
2011, Bord Gáis Energy Sports Sponsorship Manager Ger Cunningham
said "There is some amazing talent coming through at U21 and Minor
level in GAA and I wish both the U21 and Minor winners for 2011 long
and successful careers in their respective sports."
