Proven CapabilityAPT has provided all aspects of safety support to multiple programs. With a history of competent and qualified safety support, APT has the capability to support all types of C-IED training programs.

APT’s security policy is that C-IED training devices are only shipped to vetted individuals belonging to approved organizations such as the US military, civil/federal law enforcement, the Transportation Security Administration, or the Department of Homeland Security.

APT has also provided support for numerous Safety Confirmations, including several on UAV, UGV, and supporting systems.

APT Program Manager/ C-IED Training ExpertMike Kniest is currently the C-IED Training Group Lead and the PM/SME (Program Manager/Subject Matter Expert) for the JIDA [Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Agency (formerly JIEDDO)] U.S. Army’s Road to War Training Task Order 2. The Task Order 2 contract covers all Road to War, pre-deployment training with each course being offered for SOF (Special Operations Force) and Conventional EOD units. Road to War Training courses consist of EOD Tactical Training, EEE (Explosive Event Exploitation), WTI (Weapons Technical Intelligence), HME (Homemade Explosives), and IED Electronics. Mike spent 13 years as an active duty Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician, is currently a member of the Alabama Army National Guard assigned as the Battalion CSM for the 441st Ordnance Battalion (EOD), and has had four operational

deployments in Afghanistan. Mike is a Master Training Instructor, Master EOD Technician and recognized subject-matter expert for Tactical Post Blast Investigation, IED and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Electronics, Counter-IED Biometrics, Evidence Preservation, Tactical Site Exploitation (TSE), Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Safety, and Modern Army Combatives. His work experience includes being an EOD team leader as a member of a Tier 1 Counter Terrorism Unit, Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) for the Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) Clearance Course, NCOIC for the Army Detachment of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Hazardous Devices School, Tactical Post Blast Investigation Master Instructor, and Explosive Safety Engineer. In 2008, he joined APT as an Explosive Safety Engineer. Mike has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Grantham University.
