HOMILIA DE HOY
Proyecto de Homilía Lecturas para la Vigilia
• Al contrario de la lectura del Génesis de la Vigilia el Espíritu de Pentecostés no crea la unidad restaurando la uniformidad que existía antes de Babel,
sino con la unidad en la diversidad para que todos los pueblos de diferentes idiomas puedan escuchar el Evangelio en su propia lengua.
• Éxodo prefigura el viento y el fuego de los Hechos. Ezequiel conforta a aquellos afligidos por la laguna que había entre la promesa del Espíritu y la realidad de la comunidad. Joel imagina un vestigio de energías gastadas y de visiones fracasadas, que transformarán al mundo más tarde o más temprano. Pablo se hace eco de Ezequiel para asegurarles a todos los que batallan con esa laguna entre las posibilidades sin límites visualizada por los profetas y la desilusión de la realidad en nuestra vida comunitaria y personal. Finalmente, en este “último día de la fiesta mayor” (Pascua), Jesús promete satisfacer nuestra sed y quitarnos el miedo a fin de fortalecernos para vivir nuestra misión evangélica de la evangelización.
Lecturas del Día
• En el relato de Pentecostés en los Hechos es Espíritu infunde un par de dones de comunidad y comunicación, no para invertir la confusión de lenguas de Babel e imponer una uniformidad, sino para crear una unidad en la diversidad por la cual el mismo Evangelio se expresa en todas las lenguas humanas.
• Ambas lecturas paulinas nos retan a dejar que el Espíritu nos mueva a salir de una individualidad egotista y cerrada a los demás hacia una plenitud de vida como miembros del cuerpo vivo de Cristo dentro de la comunidad de la Iglesia. La carta a los corintios nos exhorta a celebrar los múltiples dones del Espíritu en otras personas a la vez que compartimos generosamente los propios. La carta a los gálatas contrasta la “carne”, el término que usa Pablo para describir la muerte en vida de los que viven sin Dios o sin espiritualidad, con “la vida en el Espíritu” que produce “el amor, la alegría, la paz, la generosidad, la benignidad, la bondad, la fidelidad, la mansedumbre y el dominio de sí mismo”.
• El Evangelio A repite el Evangelio del segundo domingo de Pascua, “cerrando” así el círculo del tiempo pascual con Jesús que “recrea” a la comunidad al soplar el Espíritu sobre sus
discípulos y enviarlos (también a nosotros) a amar como ama Jesús, con la reconciliación y el perdón. El Evangelio B enfatiza que, en virtud de la promesa de Jesús de que “el Espíritu de la verdad los irá guiando hasta la verdad plena”, la comunidad está destinada a ser bendecida por los siglos, no sólo con las palabras de Cristo tal como las transmite el Evangelio, sino como “bautizados en un mismo Espíritu para formar un solo cuerpo”, esto es, un entendimiento en evolución de la verdad. De este texto brota la creencia católica de que en asuntos del culto divino y del testimonio, de creencias y prácticas, y de la fe y la moral el Espíritu preserva el magisterio de la Iglesia, el papa y los obispos en comunión con él, de todo error.
Pregunta de la Semana ¿Podría yo facilitar que “el Espíritu me guíe hasta la verdad plena” al emprender o continuar mi propia educación en la fe mediante la lectura de las Escrituras o de algún comentario bíblico, o de una nueva publicación litúrgica, espiritual o de la doctrina social de la Iglesia durante este verano?

WHAT’S HAPPENING PENTECOST SUNDAY MAY 24, 2015
HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP TO MEET SUNDAY, MAY 31th AT 6:15 PM

Church Adult Bible
Study normally is in
session September thru
May with a short break
for the Christmas
season. There are two
sessions held weekly, Tuesday evening at 7:30pm
and the same study is repeated Thursday morning at
9:30am. Each session is 1½ hours which includes
prayer, small table group discussion, wrap up video
for that week’s lesson and fellowship.
Israel’s Story- Part One This study explores Old
Testament history, theology, and stories, from the
creation accounts of Genesis to the fall of the
Northern Kingdom and its prophets. This study is 7
sessions. We will begin in early September 2015
with Part One and take a short break for the
Christmas season and continue in January 2016 with
Israel’s Story – Part Two which also has 7 sessions.

Liturgy of the Word
The Liturgy of the Word is the major part of the
mass between the Collect and the Preparation of
the Gifts during which the Word of God is
proclaimed, responded to, authoritatively
explained, accepted and held fast, and appealed
to. It includes and Old Testament Reading,
Gospel Acclamation (Alleluia), Gospel
Reading, the Homily, Silence, the Profession of
Faith (Nicene or Apostles Creed), and the
Universal Prayer (Prayer of the Faithful or
Intercessions).

The next Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat will be in
the Charleston area, June 12-14. The retreat is
very helpful in sorting out feelings and thoughts
about an abortion experience so that healing can
