Why do Airports need Third Party Liability Insurance?

A congestion of aircraft, people, vehicles, hazardous substances on the limited territory of an Airport.

Airport services are always under time pressure.

Airport is also responsible for safety of aircraft, passengers and other people on its territory.

Most of aircraft incidents happen within the Airport territory (take-off, climbing, descending andlanding) are the most complicated parts of the flight.

• Liability for the safe handling of aircraft on the ground and whilst in the air and under the controlof the Air Traffic control centre operated by the airport authority

• Liability for the safety of personnel and vehicles whilst operation in the environment controlled bythe authority

• Liability for the safety of personnel employed or contracted to perform maintenance orconstruction work within the environment controlled by the airport authority

• Liability for the safety of members of the public whilst on the premises and within theenvironment controlled by the airport authority. This would also cover sickness or death caused byfood or drink purchased and consumed on the premises and whilst being transported around theairport by employees of the airport authority

• Liability for damage caused during the operation of any ramp or turnaround facilities byemployees of the airport authority

becoming increasingly important
