In 1956 Don Abelardo Rodríguez, son of General Abelardo Rodríguez, the interim president of Mexico, decided to open one of the most famous hotels in the country: Hotel Palmilla (Currently One & Only Palmilla), has been to this day, the favorite for people like Hemingway and Harlow.
To entertain her guests, Cristina Bremmer Rodríguez, Abelardo Rodríguez’s niece, opened Ristorante Da Giorgio near San José del Cabo (now a separate entity of Sunset Monalisa) with her husband, a young Italian from Florence, Italy.
Los Cabos has become a world-famous place that attracts not only high-end customers but also sophisticated travelers seeking high service standards. In 1991 the Ristorante Da Giorgio was created and quickly reached its peak. Its natural and unique environment, made this place one of the most visited monuments of Los Cabos.
In 2001, Hurricane Juliette destroyed the huge palapa that covered the entire site and marked the change in the administration and future of the restaurant.
In 2004 a group of Italian investors began the new operation of Sunset Monalisa with the most talented service and event coordination professionals in the area, with this they achieved a new and unique product. After 16 years of operation, Sunset Monalisa has the most qualified architects in Los Cabos, where over the years they have achieved important redesigns in the location, as well as investments in human resources; the new palapa is in place, our kitchen expanded, a new panoramic terrace (City lights), Cava Di Vini fully conditioned for casual or private events and our Sunset Point Wine & Pizza Lounge on the second floor is available for the Entertainment for those looking for something relaxed and exclusive with a breathtaking view.
