Attaching Vellum with Embellishmentsby Debby HughesCard size: 3d" x 5"
Instructions1. Cut a square of 40 lb. vellum.
2. Prepare the vellum square for embossing using a powder tool or powder bag to reduce static and prevent stray embossing powder from sticking to un-inked areas.
3. Stamp a tree ring background in VersaMark ink on the vellum square. Heat emboss the stamped image using White embossing powder.
4. Cut out the tree ring to create a patterned/embossed vellum circle.
5. Apply a wash of clean water to cold-press watercolor paper using a round brush. Drop in coral or pink watercolor (wet-on-wet technique). Allow the watercolor to dry completely or speed up the process by heat setting the color. Add deep pink and gold in the darker areas to add interest (glazing technique). Allow the watercolors to dry completely.
6. Die cut a letter “U” from the watercolor panel. Die cut mini hearts from the remainder of the watercolor panel.
7. Die cut a greeting word (“Love”) from white cardstock (Marshmallow).
8. Die cut a leaves cluster from vellum and white cardstock (Marshmallow).
9. Die cut a stitched rectangle (approx. 4-Bar size) from light gray cardstock (Fog).

10. Using a mini clothespin, clip the embossed tree ring circle and the leaves clusters to the top of the stitched rectangle panel. Secure the white leaves using foam adhesive.
11. Pivot the tree ring circle, so you can see the back. Apply foam adhesive to the back of the circle, behind the white leaves. Pivot the circle back onto the panel, and secure in place.
12. Using Matte Multi-Medium, adhere the “U” and heart die cuts to the panel, layering the die cuts on the tree ring and leaves. Place an acrylic block on the panel while the liquid adhesive dries to prevent bubbling or warping. Allow the adhesive to dry completely.
13. Using a straight, running stitch and silver thread, sew the “Love” die cut to the panel. Secure the thread ends to the back of the panel using tape.
14. Adhere the panel to a white 4-Bar card (Marshmallow) using two layers of foam adhesive, leaving a space for the clothespin at the top of the panel. The adhesive should lift the panel so the clothespin fits easily between the panel and card—add another layer of foam adhesive, if needed.
15. Tie a pink twine bow, and adhere the bow to the clothespin using a Glue Dot.
16. Embellish the card with sequins, as desired, securing each sequin using Matte Multi-Medium.
Tips & Tricks• The quality or thickness of your vellum may be a
factor if you experience warping when embossing.
Opt for a heavier weight, high-quality vellum to
reduce the chance that your vellum will warp when
you apply heat. Also, make sure your heat tool is
good and hot before embossing.
• Vellum is very forgiving for fussy cutting—no one
is going to notice if your cutting is a little bit off or
uneven, due to the sheer nature of the material.

Attaching Vellum Stripsby Kristina WernerCard sizes: 5" x 7" and 52" x 4"
Happy Birthday Instructions1. Secure a panel of watercolor paper to a
movable surface using painter’s tape.
2. Using a wide brush, apply clean water to the panel. Drop in a variety of watercolor shades to create a variegated background (wet-on-wet technique), as shown in the Day 1 video. Allow the watercolors to dry completely or use a heat tool.
3. Repeat Step 2 as desired to add layers of color.
4. Trim the completed watercolor panel to the size you want it on the card (approximately 5” x 7”).
5. Position a leaf cluster die on the watercolor panel at a diagonal, and die cut the leaf cluster. You’ll be using both pieces for this project; do not remove the positive die cuts at this time. Temporarily secure the positive leaf-cluster die cuts in place using Post-It Notes.
6. Prepare a vellum panel for embossing by pouncing a powder tool or powder bag over the surface to reduce static and prevent stray embossing powder from sticking to un-inked areas.
7. Stamp a greeting (“Happy Birthday”) in VersaMark ink. Heat emboss using white embossing powder. Trim to create a greeting strip.
8. Wrap the vellum strip around the panel, trim the excess, and adhere the ends to the back using Matte Multi Medium. Ensure that you adhere the ends to the panel portion, not the leaf cluster die cut. Allow the adhesive to dry completely.

9. Apply foam adhesive to the back of the panel, avoiding the leaf cluster die cut.
10. Create a 5" x 7" top-folding card by cutting two panels of white cardstock (Marshmallow): one at 5" x 7" and one at 5" x 72". Score the 5" x 72" panel at 2" to create a flap. Fold, and adhere the flap to the 5" x 7" panel.
11. Adhere the watercolor panel to the card using the foam adhesive.
12. Remove the Post-It Notes. Gently pop out the leaf-cluster die cut, and remove it. Apply foam adhesive to the back of the die cut. Turning the leaf-cluster die cut 180-degrees, slide it back under the vellum band. Secure in place, offset from the window in the watercolor panel.
Hugs Instructions1.
4. Cut the completed watercolor panel to the size you want it on the card (approximately 2" x 4").
5. Arrange leaf dies on the watercolor panel, and die cut the leaves. You’ll be using all pieces for this project; reserve all pieces.
6. Prepare a vellum panel for embossing by pouncing a powder tool or powder bag over the surface to reduce static and prevent stray embossing powder from sticking to un-inked areas.
7. Stamp a greeting (“Hugs”) in VersaMark ink. Heat emboss using white embossing powder. Trim to create a greeting strip.

8. Remove the positive die-cut leaves from the watercolor panel.
9. Wrap the vellum strip around the panel, trim the excess, and adhere the ends to the back using Matte Multi Medium.
10. Using foam adhesive, adhere leaf die cuts to the watercolor panel, turning the leaves in different directions than the windows in the panel. Trim any overhanging die cuts flush with the edge of the panel.
11. Using an embossing folder, dry emboss a polka-dot pattern into a top-folding white card (Marshmallow). Turn the card sideways to create a side-folding, landscape-oriented card.
12. Apply foam adhesive to the back of the completed panel, and adhere the panel to the card flush with the top edge. Trim the bottom edge of the card flush with the panel to create a 4" tall card.
13. Round the right corners of the card using a 2" corner rounder.
Tips & Tricks• Vellum is a fantastic, non-intrusive option for adding
a greeting to a card that features an elaborate
background.
• When heat embossing vellum, hold the heat tool
to apply heat to the back of the vellum instead
of directly to the powder. Apply the heat in short
bursts, removing it quickly from the vellum, and
then going back in. Both of these methods will
help reduce the risk of warping, while producing
great results.
• If your vellum cracks when folded, make sure you
score it before wrapping it around the front of a card
or panel.

Attaching Vellum With Sewingby Nichol Spohr MagouirkCard size: 44" x 52"
Instructions1. Cut a 44" x 52" panel of watercolor paper.
2. Prepare the watercolor paper panel for embossing by pouncing a powder tool or powder bag over the panel to reduce static and prevent stray embossing powder from sticking to un-inked areas.
3. Stamp a line-art (outline) leaf image in VersaMark ink on the prepared panel. Cover the stamped image with white embossing powder, so you can clearly see it and avoid overlapping the next image.
4. Repeat Step 3 using leaf, stem, and flower images to create a floral background along the bottom and side edges of your panel. When all stamped images are covered, heat set the embossing powder.
5. Create a watercolor palette by scribbling Distress Markers on a large acrylic block.
6. Using one color at a time, watercolor each of the embossed images in the floral background using your Distress Ink palette, as shown in the Day 1 video. Allow each color to completely dry before moving to the next.
7. Watercolor around each image using a pale shade to create dimension using a negative watercolor technique, as shown in the Day 1 video. Allow the watercolor panel to dry completely.
8. Die cut a medium-size banner from vellum. Prepare the vellum for embossing using a powder tool or powder bag.

9. Stamp a greeting in VersaMark ink (“I hope you always have a reason to Smile”) on the vellum banner. Heat emboss using gold embossing powder.
10. Using a sewing machine and a simple, running stitch with white thread, stitch the vellum to the top edge of the watercolor panel. Stitch the line 2-3 times to create a well-defined, stitched edge. Do not trim the ends of the thread too closely.
11. Adhere the completed panel to a top-folding card.
Tips & Tricks• One of the great things about vellum is that it
allows you to still see any color that lies behind it.
This makes it an excellent material to layer over
watercolors, where shapes and color (not detail) are
the stars.
• If you don’t have a sewing machine, you can always
hand stitch your vellum to your watercolor panel.
In this case, you may find it helpful to use a paper-
piercing template to evenly space your stitches.
• When machine stitching vellum, leave the thread
ends messy to create a homespun look.

Day 2 - Vellum Techniques
Coloring Vellum & Vellum Cardsby Jennifer McGuireCard size: 44" x 52"
Instructions1. Create a top-folding card from heavyweight
vellum. Do not fold the card at this time. Lay the card flat, and mask the back of the card (above the score line) using Post-It tape.
2. Optional: Adhere a strip of Post-It tape to the back of the card front to mark where the greeting will ultimately be placed.
3. Ink the front of the card by pressing an inkpad directly to the vellum (direct-to-paper technique) and rub in the ink with a soft cloth, as shown in the Day 2 video. Create a rainbow on the vellum using a variety of inkpads.
4. Repeat Step 3 on the other side of the vellum, removing the Post-It tape from Step 2. Heat set the ink using a heat tool, if desired.
5. Prepare the card front for embossing by pouncing a powder tool or powder bag over the surface to reduce static and prevent stray embossing powder from sticking to areas you don’t want to emboss.

6. Stamp a large, line-art (outline) floral image on the card in VersaMark ink. Heat emboss using white embossing powder. Reposition the stamp and repeat this step, if needed, to create a larger image.
7. Die cut a large stitched rectangle from white cardstock. Reposition the die, and run it through your die-cutting machine again to create a stitched strip. Repeat to create a second strip.
8. Stamp a greeting (“Best Wishes”) in VersaMark ink on one stitched strip. Heat emboss using platinum silver glitter embossing powder.
9. Adhere the greeting strip to the front of the card, at a diagonal, covering any “seams” created by stamping the image multiple times. Adhere the un-embossed strip to the back of the card front, covering the adhesive on the back of the greeting strip. Trim the edges of the strips flush with the card’s edges.
10. Cut away all but an inch of the back of the card, creating a flap. Sandwich the flap between two card-size, white cardstock panels using strong adhesive.
11. Color in the flowers and leaves using a white colored pencil. Color over the white pencil using a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. Allow the glitter to dry completely.
12. Embellish the card with pearls, as desired.
Tips & Tricks• Use a strip of Post-It tape on the back of a vellum
panel to mark where a greeting will go, without
actually masking it off.
• When inking vellum, reach for darker or bolder
colors than you think you need. The vellum will
naturally mute the ink, giving you the beautifully
colored results you want.

Dry Embossing Vellumby Dawn WoleslagleCard size: 44" x 52"
Happy Birthday Instructions1. Position a parchment paper or heavy vellum
panel on top of a floral stamp, backside up. Using a white pencil, trace the areas of the stamp that you want to include on your project. Re-orient the vellum as needed to create the look you want using select portions of the stamp image.
2. With the backside of the tracing panel facing up, lay the panel on a dark embossing pad or the backside of a mouse pad. You should be able to clearly see your traced lines against the background.
3. Trace the white lines using a stylus, pressing the lines into the embossing pad. This stretches the parchment and creates a raised effect, so when you flip the panel right side up, the image lines will be raised. The harder you press, the more pronounced your embossing would be. Note: this is irreversible, so make sure your image is correct before performing this step.
4. Using a clay-shading stylus, press into open areas in your design (flower petals) to create highlighted areas, as shown in the Day 2 video. The harder you press, the wider the highlighted area will be. These areas will be opaque white when you turn the panel right side up.
5. Continuing to work on the backside of the parchment, add details to the flower centers using a fine-point stylus, as shown in the Day 2 video.

15
6. Color the floral arrangement using a number of Copic markers, as shown in the Day 2 video. Flip over the panel and check your coloring frequently to ensure that the results are pleasing.
7. Cut your completed colored panel to slightly smaller than 44" x 52".
8. Die cut a stitched rectangle from white cardstock, and adhere behind the colored panel.
9. Stamp a wide stripe background in light blue (Lakehouse) ink on white cardstock. Cut the stamped panel to approximately 34" x 42". Adhere to a white card.
10. Adhere the layered, colored parchment panel to the card using foam adhesive.
11. Die cut a greeting word from black cardstock (“Hello”). Die cut two banners of different sizes, one from glitter cardstock and one from white cardstock.
12. Stamp a complementary greeting (“I miss you”) in black ink on the white banner.
13. Using foam adhesive, adhere the stamped banner to the top edge of the glitter banner, so a thin stripe of glitter shows beneath the complementary greeting.
14. Adhere the die-cut greeting word to the card using foam adhesive.
15. Position the greeting banner on the card, and trim the right ends flush with the colored, parchment panel. Adhere to the card.
16. Embellish the card, as desired, using a clear glitter pen and sequins.

Tips & Tricks• The technique Dawn shows us today requires a sturdier material
than traditional vellum. This is when parchment paper comes in
handy. It’s translucent like vellum, but can hold up under heavy dry
embossing and manipulating.
• If you love this dry embossing technique, a pack of styluses can
help you create a variety of fantastic looks. You may also want
to pick up a shading stylus (meant for clay sculpting) to create
highlighting. If you don’t have a shading stylus, simply unfold a
paperclip, and you’re set!
• Stretch your stamps by tracing portions of larger images onto
vellum using a white pencil. Remember to stop and periodically
check your tracing to ensure that it will orient well on your project
and that you have enough traced to fill the area you have in mind.
• When performing this technique, protect your parchment or vellum
from the oils in your skin by resting your wrist on a clean piece of
scratch paper instead of directly on the vellum.
• Vellum is non-porous surface, so remember: the Copics will not
blend into the vellum—the color will sit on top. For this reason, you
will use the darker marker first, and then manipulate the color using
a lighter marker from the same color family. The colors will not
blend on the non-porous surface, so you will have hard edges to
your coloring.

Vellum Envelopesby Kristina WernerCard size: 52" x 4"
Instructions1. Create a top-folding card from white
cardstock (Solar White). Do not fold the card at this time.
2. Secure the card to a non-stick craft mat using painter’s tape. Position a stencil on the front of the card, and secure using painter’s tape or Post-It tape.
3. Apply Distress Inks over the stencil using a Mini Ink Blending Tool. Work in circular motions from the outside edges, as shown in the Day 2 video, to create a rainbow background. Remove the stencil and clean it off.
4. Turn the card to create a side-folding, landscape-oriented card.
5. Stamp a greeting word (“You”) in Onyx Black Versafine ink on the stenciled portion of the card front.
6. Prepare a panel of black cardstock (Licorice Twist) for embossing by pouncing a powder tool or powder bag over the surface to reduce static and prevent stray embossing powder from sticking to un-inked areas.
7. Stamp a complementary greeting (“Big Birthday Wishes to”) in VersaMark ink on the prepared black cardstock. Heat emboss using white embossing powder.
8. Trim the greeting to create a greeting strip. Snip the left end at an angle. Adhere the strip to the card using foam adhesive.

Vellum Option 11. Die cut an envelope from vellum using a die
that both cuts and scores. Fold the envelope along the scored lines. Adhere the flaps in place using Tombow Extreme adhesive.
2. Adhere the envelope inside your card. Tuck a gift card in the pocket and secure the envelope closed using washi tape.
Vellum Option 21. Score a vellum strip at each end, and along
the bottom edge. The intersection of the scored lines will create squares.
2. Snip away the squares at the corners, and fold along the scored lines to create flaps.
3. Wrap each of the flaps around a cardstock panel, and adhere to the back using Tombow Extreme adhesive.
4. Adhere the cardstock panel inside the card.
Tips & Tricks• When working with stencils and inks to create one-
layer cards, make sure to keep your fingers clean to
avoid smudging or transferring ink. Keep some baby
wipes nearby as you work!
• There are times when seeing the adhesive on vellum
isn’t really a problem—assembling a pocket or
envelope is one of those times! Select a tape runner
that puts down a solid stripe of adhesive (no dots),
and your pocket will look just like those that you buy
pre-made.

Day 3 - Acetate Techniques
Creating Clear Cardsby Debby HughesTag size: 34" x 54"
Instructions1. Stamp multiple fairy, flower, and house
images in black (Intense Black) ink on white cardstock.
2. Die cut all images using the corresponding dies.
3. Color the die cuts using Copic markers, as shown in the Day 3 video.
4. Embellish the fairies’ wings and dresses using a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.
5. Prepare a strip of patterned paper (Let’s Bokeh in the Snow) for embossing by pouncing a powder tool or bag over the surface to reduce static and prevent stray embossing powder from sticking to un-inked areas.
6. Stamp a greeting in VersaMark ink on the prepared paper (“Have a magical day”). Heat emboss the greeting using white embossing powder. Trim the embossed greeting to create a greeting strip, and snip a triangle in each end of the strip to create a banner.
7. Die cut a piece of patterned paper (The Story of Fall) using a curved edge die to create a hill.

8. Adhere the greeting strip and two fairies to an acetate tag.
9. Adhere the die-cut hill, a flower, a house, and another fairy to a second acetate tag. Trim the edges of the hill flush with the edges of the tag.
10. Die cut duplicates of all images used from white cardstock. Adhere each new die cut to the back of an acetate tag, directly behind the corresponding image on the front. Cut duplicates of the greeting strip and hill from white cardstock, and adhere each of those in place. These will hide the adhesive on the acetate.
11. Stack the tags together, and thread ribbon through both tags to create a card. Tie another color of ribbon around the first to secure it. Trim the excess ribbon.
Tips & Tricks• Any piece of clear plastic will work for something
like a shaker card—feel free to use leftover stamp
packaging, overhead projector sheets, pockets, or
any other clear plastic. However, if you’re creating
a full card from acetate (a clear card), you will want
crystal clear, high-quality material and may need to
purchase a package of acetate sheets or tags.
• Stamping and die cutting more images than you’ll
use on a project means that you’ll have ready-to-use
images for future projects! Just tuck them into your
stamp pocket for safekeeping.
• When coloring with Copics, use a darker color for
the shading than you think you’ll need. This will
create colored images that pop!

Creating Stencilsby Kristina WernerCard size: 44" x 52"
Instructions1. Create two DIY clouds stencils from
6" x 4w" acetate panels using cloud dies. When stacked, the two stencils should be able to create overlapping clouds.
2. Using Distress Ink and a Mini Ink Blending Tool, ink the top of a white cardstock panel, blending to white as shown in the Day 3 video.
3. Position the first clouds stencil over the inked panel, and secure using painter’s tape.
4. Using a palette knife, apply a thin layer of embossing paste over the stencil. Smooth out, and then remove the stencil. Clean both the stencil and palette knife immediately. Allow the embossing paste to dry completely.
5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 using the second clouds stencil to create a second layer of clouds, overlapping the first layer. Apply a slightly thicker layer of embossing paste for this step. Allow the embossing paste to dry completely.
6. Stamp a bird and leaves in black ink on a watercolor paper panel. Create a DIY watercolor palette using Distress Inks by pressing the inkpads directly to a laminated sheet or other slick surface. Watercolor the bird and leaves as shown in the Day 3 video.
7. Allow the watercolors to dry completely, and cut out each image. Color the edges of each cutout using a black marker.
8. Stamp a branch in black ink on the embossed panel, below the clouds.
9. Adhere the bird and leaves to the embossed panel using foam adhesive.
10. Adhere the panel to a top-folding white card (Solar White) using foam adhesive.

22
11. Prepare a black cardstock panel (Licorice Twist) for embossing by pouncing a powder tool or powder bag over the surface to reduce static and prevent stray embossing powder from sticking to un-inked surfaces.
12. Stamp a greeting (“A Little Birdie Told Me”) in VersaMark ink on the prepared black cardstock. Heat emboss using white embossing powder.
13. Trim the cardstock to create a greeting strip the same width as your embossed panel. Adhere the greeting strip to the card using foam adhesive.
Tips & Tricks• Create reusable DIY stencils using acetate and
any dies you have on hand. These durable stencils
are especially useful for wet techniques, such as
embossing paste.
• Give your cutouts a professional touch by coloring
the edges with a black marker. This will blend those
white core edges into the stamped lines.
• If you adhere a large panel to a card, and the panel
is not quite centered, don’t be afraid to grab a t-ruler
and craft knife and trim the card. It’s okay if your card
is not a perfect A2 base—no one will notice!

Glitter Windowsby Jennifer McGuireCard size: 44" x 52"
Instructions1. Apply a sheet of double-sided adhesive to an
acetate panel, leaving the backing in place.
2. Die cut the release paper you removed from the double-sided adhesive sheet using an intricate floral panel die. Remove all the positive pieces; you’ll be using the panel for this project.
3. Remove the backing from the acetate panel. Apply the die-cut release paper to the adhesive-backed acetate (sticky side up). Because this is the release paper, you’ll be able to easily remove it later.
4. Cover the masked, adhesive-backed acetate with glitter. Press the glitter into the adhesive using your finger and remove any loose glitter using a dusting cloth.
5. Using a craft knife, cut away pieces of the mask to reveal a little adhesive at a time. Apply different colors of glitter to each revealed area, pressing the glitter firmly into the adhesive, and removing the loose glitter with a dusting cloth. Repeat until all images in the floral design have been glittered.
6. Die cut a greeting word (“Thanks”) from black cardstock. Cover the die cut with VersaMark ink by pressing the inkpad directly against the die cut. Heat emboss using clear embossing powder. Repeat the inking and embossing process three times to create a faux-enamel finish.
7. Position an unfolded, top-folding, white card and a white cardstock panel on a die-cutting platform. Lay a rectangle die on the cardstock stack, and run it through your die-cutting machine to cut windows in the panel and the card at the same time.

24
8. Adhere the glittered acetate to the back of the die-cut panel, behind the window. Trim the acetate’s edges flush with the panel.
9. Adhere the panel and acetate to the card, lining up the windows.
10. Adhere the faux-enamel greeting to the card using Matte Multi Medium. Allow the liquid adhesive to dry completely.
11. Optional: Adhere a blue 4" x 54" notecard inside the card.
Tips & Tricks• Always save the release paper from adhesive
sheets—they make fantastic masks.
• After applying glitter, go over the glittered surface
using a dusting cloth (such as Swiffer) to pick up any
loose glitter.

Magic Slider Cardby Kelly Marie AlvarezCard size: 44" x 52"
PrepCut the following pieces:
1. White cardstock
• 3w" x 10", scored and folded at 5"
(window card)
• 4w" x 3z" (insert)
• Two 4" x 4d" strips
• Two 4" x 34" strips
• Die cut banner
• Die cut two small butterflies
• 44" x 11", scored at 52" to create
a top-folding A2 card
2. Acetate: 4w" x 32"
3. Pink (Guava) cardstock: 5" x 3w"
4. Patterned paper: 44" x 52"
Instructions1. Die cut a 2w" x 4" rectangle in front of the
folded window card. Set aside the positive die-cut rectangle; you will not need it for this project. Lightly trace around the inside of the die-cut window using a pencil.
2. Stamp a greeting in black ink on the die-cut banner (“Thanks for sharing your wisdom”).
3. Open the window card, and position it in a MISTI tool. Position your stamps to create a scene on the inside of the card, inside the traced rectangle. Mount your stamps, and stamp the images in black ink (Tuxedo Black).
4. With the stamps still mounted, position your acetate piece in the MISTI tool. Place the acetate approximately 8" from the edge of the tool to account for the size difference between the window card and the acetate. Stamp the images in black StazOn ink or another ink meant for non-porous surfaces.

26
5. Optional: Add more stamped images to the scene using the same method described in Steps 3-4. Use masking to protect foreground pieces (foxes) when stamping any background scenery (hill). Remember to repeat all stamping on both the window card and the acetate.
6. Position the insert inside the window card, flush with the card fold, over the top of the stamped scene. Using a pencil, mark the top corners/edges of the insert in the card fold.
7. Position the window card on a cutting mat. Using a ruler and a craft knife, cut along the card fold from one pencil mark to the next. You now have a slit in the card fold, just the right size for your insert. Erase the pencil marks.
8. Color the scene on the window card using Copic markers, as shown in the Day 3 video.
9. Apply 8" Scor-Tape around the inside edges of the window (back of the card front). Peel away the backing.
10. Position the stamped acetate directly over the colored scene, lining up all lines in the image. Note: It is okay if your acetate is a little crooked, as long as the stamped lines are in position. Lightly, temporarily secure the edges of the acetate to your work surface using Post-It Tape.
11. Fold the window card front closed, securing the front of the card to the acetate. Remove the Post-It Tape.
12. Open the card, and apply 8" Scor-Tape around the side and bottom edges inside the card (on the colored panel).
13. Adhere the two 4d" long strips to the sides and one of the 34" strips along the bottom. This creates a u-shaped track for the slider mechanism.
Copyright © 2016 Online Card Classes, LLC. All rights reserved. CLEAR & SHEER - DAY 3 - PAGE 27
27
14. Apply 8" Scor-Tape along the bottom edge of the insert. Adhere the second 34" strip to the insert. The strip is wider than the insert, and creates a stopper for the slider.
15. Tuck the insert into the card, and slide it up through the slit in the card fold. The stopper will keep it from sliding all the way out. The slider is now in place.
16. Apply 8" Scor-Tape around the u-shaped track. Close the card to adhere the window in place and secure the slider.
17. Die cut a 2w" x 4" rectangle in the pink (Guava) cardstock panel. Set aside the positive die cut; you’ll be using the negative frame for this project. Adhere the frame to the window card.
18. Using foam adhesive, adhere the two butterfly die cuts to the top of the slider, sandwiching the slider between them to create a pull.
19. Adhere the patterned paper panel to the top-folding card. Adhere the slider piece to the card using foam adhesive.
20. Adhere the greeting banner to the card using foam adhesive.
Tips & Tricks• When stamping images that need to be
precisely positioned (like those on this slider
card), a MISTI tool can help you get that exact
placement every time.
• Don’t forget: acetate is a non-porous surface.
This means that to stamp on acetate, you’ll
want to use solvent ink—like StazOn—in order
to avoid ink smears.

Day 4 - More Techniques for Vellum & Acetate
Embossing Foldersby Jennifer McGuireCard sizes: 44" x 52"
Instructions1. Open an acetate or vellum card (top-folding
or side-folding), and slide the front of the card into an embossing folder.
2. Following your die-cutting machine’s instructions for embossing, run the folder and card through your machine to emboss a pattern into the acetate card front.
3. Die cut two nesting-size shapes from two colors of cardstock (hearts, stars, or circles shown here). Set aside the negative (window) panels; you’ll be using the positive shapes for this design.
4. Adhere the smaller die-cut shape to the front of the card using strong, double-sided tape. Adhere the larger die-cut shape to the back of the card front to hide the adhesive on the smaller die cut. If any die-cut edges overhang the card’s edge, trim the die cuts flush with the edge of the card.
5. Optional DIY: Cover a panel of cardstock with VersaMark ink by pressing the inkpad directly to the cardstock (direct-to-paper method). Cover the panel with glitter embossing powder, and heat emboss to create glittered cardstock.
Copyright © 2016 Online Card Classes, LLC. All rights reserved. CLEAR & SHEER - DAY 4 - PAGE 30
30
6. Die cut a greeting word from glitter cardstock (“Wishes”, “Hello”, “Friend”, “Birthday”, and “Thanks” in DIY black glitter cardstock shown here).
7. Apply strong, dry adhesive to the back of the die cut greeting. Option: Use a sticker maker to apply a thin, even layer of adhesive. Adhere the greeting die cut to the card.
8. Die cut small glittered embellishments (hearts or stars shown here). Adhere to the card.
9. Die cut two shapes from white cardstock using the larger of the dies from Step 3.
10. Adhere one of these die cuts to the back of the card, positioning it directly behind the large die cut affixed to the back of the card front. Adhere the second die cut inside the card, directly over the matching die cut. This hides the adhesive and provides a space to write a message. If any die-cut edges overhang the card’s edge, trim the die cuts flush with the edge of the card.
11. Using a fine-tip nozzle, apply Glossy Accents to the die-cut greeting and the die-cut embellishments to create a faux-enamel finish on each die cut. Allow the adhesive to dry completely.
12. Apply additional embellishments as desired, such as sequins, enamel dots, or pearls.
Variations:• Color the embossed designs on vellum or acetate cards
using Copic markers. Colored pencils and other markers
may also work well on vellum.
• When working with a busy pattern, adhere a shape die cut
to the card front, and a full panel of cardstock to the back of
the card front. This will help the design pop.
Tips & Tricks• Remember, if your machine resists, back off on the pressure
and don’t force anything through. You may need to
adjust your platform and sandwich. Experiment with your
platforms and plates for each embossing folder—there is
truly no “one-size-fits-all” recipe here.
• When creating a full card and using this technique, select
heavyweight acetate or vellum for best results. If you only
have thin acetate on hand, you can still use this technique—
simply create an embellishment or embossed panel to
adhere to a traditional card. Thin vellum, however, tends to
rip, so you’ll achieve best results with heavyweight vellum.
• While you can use a busy embossing folder design, like the
one Jennifer starts with today, you may have better results
with a simple pattern. Try out whatever embossing folders
you have on hand using vellum, cardstock, and acetate.
You’ll quickly discover the material you like best with each
folder.
• If your embossing folder doesn’t fit the entire card front,
emboss the card, and then trim the card down so the
embossing fills the space.

Heat Embossingby Debby HughesCard size: 44" x 52"
Instructions1. Prepare a panel of heat-resistant acetate for
embossing by running it under water and drying with a paper towel. Then, pounce over the acetate using a powder bag. Combining these two methods will reduce static and prevent stray embossing powder from sticking to un-inked areas.
2. Stamp a floral arrangement image in VersaMark ink on the prepared acetate panel. Heat emboss the image using white embossing powder. Wipe away any remaining anti-static powder using a soft cloth.
3. Color the back of the embossed acetate panel using Copic markers, as shown in the Day 4 video. Use either the marker coloring technique or airbrushing technique, as desired (airbrushing technique shown here on the finished card).
4. Die cut a circle from a 4-1/4” x 5-1/2” white cardstock panel. Set aside the positive circle die cut; you’ll be using the remaining window panel for this project.
5. Die cut an On Edge greeting (“Thank you”) from a panel of white cardstock to create a panel with a die-cut greeting edge. Trim the edges as needed to release the top portion of the cardstock panel from the greeting.
6. Position the window panel over the embossed image on the colored acetate. Position the die-cut edge panel over the window panel, so the greeting overlaps the window. Mark the bottom edge of the die-cut edge panel, and trim flush with the edge of the window panel.
Copyright © 2016 Online Card Classes, LLC. All rights reserved. CLEAR & SHEER - DAY 4 - PAGE 33
33
7. Adhere the window panel to the colored acetate using Matte Multi Medium. Allow the liquid adhesive to dry completely, placing a large acrylic block over the panel to help the adhesive dry flat.
8. Once the adhesive is dry, trim the edges of the acetate flush with the window panel.
9. Adhere the die-cut edge panel to the window panel using foam adhesive.
10. Embellish the panel with sequins.
11. Adhere the completed panel to a top-folding white card.
Tips & Tricks• Make sure you use heat-resistant acetate for any
heat embossing in order to reduce the risk of
warping or melting. Minimize static on heat-resistant
acetate by running the acetate under water and
blotting it dry using a paper towel; then, follow our
standard technique using a powder bag. Now you’re
ready to heat emboss!
• While Copic markers work on acetate, the colors will
appear much lighter than you would expect—reach
for darker shades to account for this.
• Copic markers will not blend as they do on
cardstock. Instead you will achieve hard lines that
you can manipulate to create details and accent the
image, similar to a glazing effect in watercolor.
• The Colorless Blender solution can also be used
with the Copics on acetate to create some cool
effects. Plus, a drop of this solution will allow you to
start your coloring from a clean slate—just wipe away
the color with a paper towel.

Layering with Clear & Sheerby Shari CarrollCard sizes: 44" x 52"
Dream Card Instructions1. Stamp a cloud in white StazOn ink (Cotton
White) on an acetate panel.
2. Cut the cloud out using the coordinating die or cut by hand.
3. Die cut two additional clouds from patterned paper.
4. Stamp a patterned cloud in light gray ink on a panel of coordinating cardstock (Fog).
5. Adhere a patterned paper strip along the left edge of the panel.
6. Adhere the patterned paper die-cut clouds to the card using foam adhesive.
7. Adhere two sequins to the stamped patterned cloud using Matte Multi Medium.
8. Apply two dots of Matte Multi Medium to the back of the acetate cloud, along the stamped line. Position the acetate cloud over the patterned stamped cloud, and secure to the patterned paper clouds. The sequins will keep the other end of the acetate cloud suspended. Allow the adhesive to dry completely.
9. Tie silver thread around the left edge of the panel.
10. Apply two dots of Matte Multi Medium to the edge of the acetate cloud, one on each patterned paper cloud. Apply a sequin to each dot of adhesive.
11. Embellish the card with additional sequins, as desired.
12. Stamp a greeting (“Dream with me”) in white pigment ink on the panel. Heat emboss using white embossing powder.

13. Stamp a bird in white pigment ink on the panel. Heat emboss using white embossing powder.
14. Adhere the completed panel to a top-folding white card.
Flower Card1. Die cut a panel of dark gray cardstock (Slate)
using a stitched rectangle die.
2. Stamp a line-art (outline) flower on the dark gray panel using coordinating ink (Slate).
3. Stamp the flower again in white StazOn ink (Cotton White) on an acetate panel.
4. Color the flower on the dark gray panel using vibrant colored pencils.
5. Die-cut a frame using two stitched rectangle dies, the largest of which you used in Step 1. This will ensure the outer edge of the frame is the same size as the underlying panel.
6. Position the acetate panel over the colored dark gray panel, lining up the images. Adhere the frame to the stamped acetate panel, and trim the acetate flush with the outer edge of the frame.
7. Adhere the frame and acetate to the colored dark gray panel using foam adhesive.
8. Tie twine around the completed window panel, securing the bow in place using a drop of Matte Multi Medium.
9. Adhere the completed window panel to a light gray card (Fog) using foam adhesive.
Tips & Tricks• Make sure your StazOn inkpads are fully inked
before inking your stamps to stamp on acetate.
And, as always, clean your stamps completely
before storing.
• Stamped lines can also hide adhesive on
acetate—just use small dots of Matte Multi Medium
behind the stamped lines, and allow the adhesive
to fully dry.

Wrap Up Day
Layered & Vellum Shaker Cardsby Kristina WernerCard sizes: 44" x 52" and 4" x 4"
Happy Birthday Shaker Instructions1. Die cut two circles of the same size from heat-
resistant acetate.
2. Using a frame die or two circle dies slightly larger than the dies used in Step 1, die cut a frame from white cardstock (Solar White).
3. Die cut two circles of the same size from heavy weight white cardstock (Solar White 110 lb.).
4. Prepare the die cuts from Step 1 for embossing using a powder tool or powder bag to prevent stray embossing powder from sticking to un-inked areas of the die cut.
5. Stamp dots in VersaMark ink on one prepared acetate circle. Heat emboss the dots using colored embossing powder (Cotton Candy).
6. Wipe away any remaining prep powder using a paper towel.
7. Stamp flowers in VersaMark ink on the second prepared acetate circle. Heat emboss the flowers using glitter embossing powder (Raspberry Coulis).

8. Using VersaMark ink, stamp a complementary image (squiggle) in the center of one embossed flower. Apply metallic embossing powder (Silver) to the stamped complementary image, and heat emboss.
9. Stamp leaves in VersaMark ink on the second prepared acetate circle. Heat emboss the leaves using colored embossing powder (Olive).
10. Wipe away any remaining prep powder using a paper towel.
11. Fold a long strip of foam tape in half, and adhere it to itself to create a double-layer strip of foam tape. Cut the strip in half lengthwise using non-stick scissors to create two thin double-layer strips of foam tape.
12. Remove both backing papers from one of the foam tape strips. Apply the strip around the edge of one heavy weight die cut circle (from Step 3). Apply the tape end-to-end, and trim at the overlap.
13. Pour a sequin mix (Glacier) into the center of the tape-framed circle.
14. Adhere the dot acetate circle to the sequin-filled circle, pressing the acetate’s edges firmly into the foam tape to secure the sequins and create a shaker.
15. Remove both backing papers from the second foam tape strip. Apply the foam tape around the edge of the shaker. Apply the tape end-to-end, and trim at the overlap.
16. Pour a sequin mix (Lily White and Crystal) into the center of the tape-framed circle.
17. Adhere the flower acetate circle to the sequin-filled circle, pressing the acetate’s edges firmly into the foam tape to secure the sequins and create a second layer to the shaker.
18. Apply a thin line of Matte Multi Medium adhesive around the edge of the shaker. Affix the die-cut frame to the shaker. Allow the liquid adhesive to dry completely.
19. Stamp a greeting (“Happy Birthday”) in black Versafine ink (Onyx Black) on white cardstock, and trim to create a greeting strip. Adhere the greeting strip to the shaker using foam tape.
20. Score the second heavy weight die cut circle (from Step 3) about 2" from the edge to create a flap. Adhere the flap to the back of the shaker using strong, dry adhesive.
Thanks Shaker Instructions1. Trim a sliver off each side of a 52" x 44" white
cardstock panel. This will make it easier to wrap the vellum around the panel and create your shaker.
2. Cut a 62" x 54" panel of vellum. Score a line 2" in from each edge (four score lines).
3. Prepare the vellum for embossing using a powder tool or powder bag to reduce static and prevent stray embossing powder from sticking to un-inked areas.
4. Stamp flowers in VersaMark ink on the prepared vellum. Heat emboss the flowers using glitter embossing powder (Pink Sorbet).

5. Stamp additional flowers in VersaMark ink on the prepared vellum. Heat emboss the flowers using colored embossing powder (Cotton Candy).
6. Using VersaMark ink, stamp complementary images (squiggles and dots) in the flower centers. Heat emboss using metallic embossing powder (Silver).
7. Stamp additional dots around the flowers in VersaMark ink. Heat emboss using metallic embossing powder (Silver).
8. Stamp leaves around the flowers in VersaMark ink. Heat emboss using colored embossing powder (Olive).
9. Cut away a corner of the vellum panel by snipping from the edge of the panel to the point where the two scored lines intersect at that corner. Repeat for each corner of the panel. You will have a wide triangle snipped in each corner, creating four distinct flaps. These flaps will help you create clean folds.
10. Fold the side and bottom flaps of the vellum panel toward the back of the panel. Slide the white cardstock panel from Step 1 into the flaps, so the side and bottom flaps are on the back of the cardstock panel. Using strong, dry adhesive, affix the side and bottom vellum flaps to the cardstock panel to create a pocket with an opening at the top.
11. Pour a sequin mix (Mountain Lake) into the pocket. Secure the top flap closed using strong, dry adhesive.
12. Adhere the shaker to a top-folding white card (Solar White 110 lb.) using strong, dry adhesive.
13. Stamp a greeting (“Thanks”) in black Versafine ink (Onyx Black) on white cardstock, and trim to create a greeting strip. Adhere the greeting strip to the card using strong, dry adhesive.
Tips & Tricks• To give your shaker cards a finished look, die cut a cardstock frame
slightly larger than your acetate or vellum pieces.
• When creating a circle card, make sure to use a heavy weight
cardstock. 110 lb. cardstock makes a beautiful, sturdy card base.
• Prep both sides of your acetate using a powder tool prior to
embossing. Stray embossing powder can stick to both sides of the
acetate, regardless of where you apply the powder.
• How much sequin mix you pour into your shaker is really personal
preference—do you want more color and sparkle or more
movement to your shaker? Experiment to discover how much you
want in your shakers!

Paste on Acetateby Laura BassenCard size: 44" x 52"
Instructions1. Secure an acetate sheet to a non-stick craft
mat using Post-It tape.
2. Secure a raindrop stencil to the acetate sheet using Post-It tape.
3. Lightly press an aqua Distress Ink inkpad (Mermaid Lagoon) to the non-stick craft mat to create a small pool of ink. Using a palette knife, mix white embossing paste into the ink pool to create aqua embossing paste. Spread a thin layer of embossing paste over the bottom third of the stencil.
4. Repeat Step 3 several times more. Press harder on the inkpad each time and mix in a shade of blue (Blueprint Sketch) to create increasingly intense shades of embossing paste, as shown in the Wrap-Up Day video. Your final mix will be solely using the blue ink (Blueprint Sketch) without any of the aqua (Mermaid Lagoon). As you apply each shade, work your way to the top of the stencil. This will create an ombre effect.
5. Scrap away and smooth out the embossing paste. Remove the stencil. Allow the embossing paste to dry completely.
6. Die cut a large rectangle window in the front of a white card.
7. Die cut a thin frame from a white cardstock panel using the rectangle die from Step 6 and a nesting scalloped rectangle die.
8. Stamp a penguin and umbrella in black ink (Intense Black) on white cardstock. Color both images using Copic markers, as shown in the Wrap-Up Day video. Die cut both images using the coordinating dies.

9. Adhere the scalloped frame to the raindrop acetate using Scor-Tape. Adhere the window panel to the front of the window card using Scor-Tape.
10. Stamp a greeting “Brighter days” in VersaMark ink on black cardstock. Heat emboss using white embossing powder.
11. Stamp a complementary greeting “Wishing you” in VersaMark ink above the primary greeting. Heat emboss using white embossing powder.
12. Trim the greeting piece to create a small rectangle. Snip a triangle in the left end to create a banner. Adhere the greeting banner to the card using foam adhesive.
13. Adhere the penguin to the card using foam adhesive. Adhere the top of the umbrella to the card using foam adhesive, securing the handle to the penguin using a dot of Matte Multi Medium.
14. Embellish the card using sequins, as desired.
Tips & Tricks• This technique will look amazing on either acetate or
vellum—pick your favorite!
• Try experimenting using Distress re-inkers, Distress
Stains, and Distress Paints to see what kind of colors
and fun embossing paste you can create for use with
this technique.
