Burmese pythons are large snakes that aretan in colour with dark patches. They areone of the world’s largest snakes and cangrow to lengths of six metres. Burmesepythons have stretchy ligaments in theirjaws that allow them to swallow animals thatare up to five times as wide as their head.They spend a lot of time in trees when theyare young, but as their weight and sizeincreases they spend more time on theground.
