Mrs Butler was invited to a delightful drumming display from our students. They are very loud but so clever. I was very impressed. Keep up the great work girls, it looks like so much fun!!!

Newcastle Permanent Maths Competition. Congratulations to all the students who sat for this test earlier this term. We have received notification that one student achieved a High Distinction and 3 have achieved Distinction. Some excellent results for our school. Chess Finals Wow! Well done A team. You’re off to the regional finals. Marley, Haydn, Tom and Jarrod will be representing our school with pride at the regional finals on Wednesday 9 November. Good luck boys. Knock ‘em out with your skill. Thank you to Buddhi and Mr Andrews for all your help.

Nominations for School Leaders Tomorrow is the last day for our excited Year 5 students to get their nominations in for School Leaders 2017. They will have 2 weeks to prepare for their speeches. Speehes and elections will be conducted during Week 6. Good luck everyone! Debating Team Mrs Eves is working hard with our debating team to be ready for the WSLA championships on 10 November. Good luck in your preparation and thanks Mrs Eves for all your hard work and giving up your own lunchtime to support our wonderful students. Tell Them From Me surveys This survey has now closed and some of the data is being sent back to our school ready for me to present at the next P&C meeting. It is giving us a lot of great feedback and some directions for 2017. Thank you to everyone for completing this valuable tool for us to work with. School Uniform The P&C have worked very hard to finalise new purchases and styles of uniforms and it would be a shame if the students of our school didn’t wear them with pride. Please let your child’s teacher know if you have to send your child to school out of uniform. We do understand when weather prevents items from being washed at times. We can also provide a spare item depending on size- in an emergency. Scripture These lessons will be finishing up next week for the year and we thank our Scripture teachers for all the hard work they put into the lesson preparation for our students at Cooranbong Public School. I know the students appreciate your efforts.

Term 4 - Week 2

Grandparents Day – Friday 28th October A reminder that our special Grandparents Day will be held at our school tomorrow 28th October. We would like to invite all of our Grandparents to our morning of celebration beginning at 10.20am to celebrate the important role they play in the lives of their grandchildren. Please note – normal 9.15am assembly is cancelled for the Grandparents Day. We can’t wait to see you there!

Some more wonderful work from students in KT. Way to go Mrs Tukua! Sip ‘n Crunch Please remember to send in a drink bottle with water and a piece of fruit for our morning fruit break time. As the weather gets warmer our students may need an extra drink during class time and it is less disruptive to routine if they can access a drink from a water bottlle. Try freezing it the night before so it will remain cooler longer into the hot afternoons. New Staff appointment for 2017. Correction… Last week I introduced our new teacher incorrectly. Please welcome Mrs Kingham to our lovely school. Sorry Mrs Kingham and thanks for all your hard work at our Kinder orientation over the last 2 weeks.

As you may have noticed our school is growing in numbers and soon a new classroom will be installed near the existing Year 5/6 rooms ready for 2017.

Learn to Swim All children from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be given the opportunity to participate in either a ‘Water Safety’ or ‘Learn to Swim’ program. If you would like your children to be involved, please return the note to Ms Hamilton. Due date for final payment is Wednesday 16th November. School Discipline Procedures Document We have so many new families at our school I thought it might be a good idea to include a copy of our School Discipline Procedures in our newsletter. This might also be a good time for everyone to review this with your children. May I remind parents to specifically discuss with your child the reference to representing our school or participation in in extra-curricular activities.

Thanking you, Leoni Butler (Principal)

Term 4 - Week 2

Junior Netball Gala Day On Friday 21st October, 17 students represented Cooranbong Public School at the Westlakes PSSA Junior Netball Gala Day. The day consisted of 7 netball games, with a 10 minute break between each game. Of all the students who participated, there was only a small handful who had actually played before.

The PSSA focus for the day was fun and participation, Cooranbong also had a focus on teamwork and great sportsmanship. I am very proud of how the students conducted themselves on and off the court, they set themselves a goal of improving 1 thing per game and they were successful at achieving this. Both our teams played extremely well. As always, participating in events like this are not possible without the support of our parents. Thankyou to those parents who assisted on the day with transporting students and coaching. Keep an eye on the netball trials in the coming years! Well done to all involved.

Fete News This year our MC for the day is Fiona Hall. Fiona is a lovely lady who also is a Celebrant. As well as letting people know what is going on she will be running our Chocolate Wheel with a few special guest spinners. “Congratulations to the School on this very special anniversary! As a celebrant I am privileged to attend many celebrations in the lives of families. Weddings, Namings,Renewal of Vows, ommitment, Coming of Age and other Special Anniversaries are all integral to our heritage and sense of belonging and should be marked with a ceremony to highlight their significance. I would love to hear from you to discuss how I can help you plan and create a unique and special ceremony for your upcoming celebration. Our first meeting is always obligation free. Visit my website for extra information or give me a call www.fionahall.com.au or 04313301412 . Allow Celebrations with Heart to make the ordinary extraordinary” A big THANK YOU to Debbie Worthington of Mortgage Choice for donating a $100 gift voucher for Pauly’s Kitchen in Morisset. This is a major prize on our Chocolate Wheel.

We have lots of prizes available such as Kmart giftcards, chocolate hampers, pamper hampers, drones and lots of other great prizes! Tickets are 50c, $1 and $5. Try your luck on the day! DONT FORGET WRISTBANDS ARE ON SALE UNTIL THE 21/11 FOR $20 EACH FOR THE FIRST CHILD THEN $15 FOR EACH FOLLOWING CHILD. Did you know… a joke book called “Cooranbong

Cackles” was made in 1989 by the school to help

fund new computers. Many famous people at the

time (Alan Jones, Tony Barber) contributed their

favourite jokes as well as many local identities. This

book will be on display in the hall on fete day, make

sure you have a look.
