PRINCIPAL’S NOTE Dear Parents and Carers, STAFFING Trish Sewell our School Administration Manager, SAM, has decided to retire after 30 years of service to the Department of Education across a number of schools. Trish will be finishing her career at Cooranbong, after 13 years and her last day will be the end of this term. We all thank Trish for her service and wish her well in her new life endeavours. A replacement for Trish hopefully will be made for the start of term 2.
CLASSES We are getting very close to forming another class which would mean another demountable classroom. As the numbers historically at Cooranbong move over the holiday period we will wait to see how many children leave the school and what new enrolments we may get this Easter break. So next term there could be some changes to the classes, but we will keep you informed if this happens.
SCHOOL BEAUTIFICATION A big thank you to the interested parents, carers, teachers and teachers aides who turned up to our first meeting. It was very pleasing to see how keen this group is to make our school looking better than it
currently does. Some of the projects to aim for are: exterior painting of the buildings, garden cleanups, plantings around various buildings, getting the irrigation system to work again, construction of a sandpit, making the entrance to the school something to be proud of. So there is lots to be done. To this in term 2 a school ”working bee” will be planned. We will inform you of the date and the various tasks that will need to be done.
SCHOOL ACTIVITIES Cooranbong school is involved in many activities to support our students development. Please be aware of any notes going home to inform you of these. We have cricket, cross country, debating, and excursions. It is very important that notes are returned as soon as possible to help in organising these activities. Jim Myers Principal

K-2 Sports in Schools Over the past few weeks, on each Friday until the end of the term, K-2 has been participating in a skills-based program around Gymnastics, body movement and team building skills. We have been moving through rotations building our core strength, balancing skills, whilst also building team building skills and motivating students to push past their limits. We ask that on Fridays, could all K-2 students wear appropriate clothing for these skills sessions. This includes joggers, and sport shorts. Ben and his team from Sports In Schools Australia are working with teachers to form and build these skills beyond their visit to our school through our PE/Sport programs. This program has come at no cost to the students or the school, as we have received a funding grant from Sporting Schools. We apply for this grant each term and we were lucky enough to receive the funding grant this term. If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact Mr Briggs at school on 4977 1122 or email [email protected]. Yours in sport, Mr Briggs and the K-2 team.
At CPS, we aim to develop strong home-school partnerships. We believe that active parent engagement helps to foster students that are connected and motivated to succeed at school. We strongly encourage all parents to book in a time to discuss their child’s academic, social and emotional
progress during our interview schedule.

Gardening News The gardening group have been excitedly preparing a new large gardening bed. We also have others to fill. One lovely parent has purchased some Capsicum plants for us. If any other families would like to donate some Autumn/Winter vegetables, this would be greatly appreciated. Varieties include- Cabbage, Brussel sprout, Snow peas, carrots, Pak Choi, Spinach and Spring Onions. Thank you for your support! COMMUNITY CONCERNS ABOUT “MOMO” There have been some recent news reports about “Momo,” a current viral concern based on a disturbing looking character with bulging eyes. This character allegedly attempts to entice children to try various “challenges” that may have unsafe or dangerous consequences. We encourage you to monitor your child’s online behaviour. Please be reminded that the minimum age for social media accounts is 13 (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Tiktok, Snapchat). This is in in compliance with Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
