Coopers Green Park is a waterfront destination in Halfmoon Bay, providing visitors of all ages opportunities for nature-based recreation, relaxation, community celebrations and ecological education. The hall is a critical element of the park, where community members can gather and build connections.

The proposed community hall upgrade will be located on the same site as the existing hall allowing for the retention of key site amenities, existing trees, and protected conservation areas.

The new hall facility will be oriented to take advantage of connections to the surrounding park. It will act as a permeable threshold between the park and the water, framing views through to the landscape and defining discrete sheltered spaces indoors and outdoors for a variety of activities and functions.

Additional parking is proposed along Fisherman and Redrooffs Road to support an expanded hall capacity. Pedestrian walkways will lead visitors through the landscape to hall and the water front and will tie into existing and future trail networks.

The proposed Coopers Green Community Hall replacement is designed to host a variety of users and functions including the community fair, weddings and birthday parties, meetings, talks, concerts, fitness classes, and other activities.

Upgrades to the hall include increased capacity and improved kitchen and washroom facilities. The main hall and its support spaces are designed to accommodate 120 guests at dining tables, or a presentation for a seated audience of 176.

The proposed plan seeks to connect the hall with the surrounding landscape and has been oriented to maximize views to the park and the ocean. A large sheltering roof creates generous covered outdoor spaces for year-round use. Building systems and materials will be chosen with a focus on good acoustic and energy performance to ensure the hall is a comfortable space for all its intended uses.
