Work Term Capabilities The list below indicates the types of jobs that graduates of the Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and Management – Graduate Certificate Program perform in industry. Cooperative Education students in this program should be able to perform the tasks as indicated.

Write quality manual as required in ISO 9000:2000 series of standards Documentation development, different level of documentation and documentation control strategy Write procedures and work instructions Create quality records

Work as team member or ISO coordinator to implement ISO 9000:2000 and ISO 9000:2008 Make initial assessment for the quality management system Conduct gap analysis for ISO 9000 implementation, both 2000 and 2008 versions Lead or work with quality assurance professionals to assess, evaluate and improve quality planning with specific reference to QS 9000 Conduct Failure Mode and Effect Analyses (FMEA) Apply Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Control Plan Carry out Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Apply key principles of quality assurance in industrial and service oriented settings Apply techniques and methods for standard inspection and for automated in-line inspection, detection and prevention Apply JIT (Just-In-Time) procedures Benchmarking and developing quality policy Knowledge of SWOT analysis and quality cost analysis Mistake proofing and measurement control Building House of Quality for product design Knowledge of process distribution, including Normal Distribution Hypothesis testing and applying linear regression Apply Control chart techniques for both variable and attribute quality characteristics Determine process capability and carry out capability studies Use special control charts and acceptance sampling techniques Use quality improvement tools such as Pareto chart, histogram, cause-and-effect diagram, check sheet Estimation of percentage nonconforming from the sample date using histogram & normal distribution table Acceptance sampling methods and techniques Concept of controlled errors in manufacturing process Metrology: Use of modern measuring devices, electronic, pneumatic, mechanical and optical Design and perform the experiment to determine critical areas of product development Apply Taguchi techniques and principles of TQM in improving quality practices Operate quality assurance software packages Select and develop appropriate instrumentation techniques to measure product and process performance Apply principles and techniques of reliability engineering to predict product and system performance
