Here’s a PowerPoint presentation that I would like to convert into a PDF handout

Page 3: Converting A Power Point To A Pdf

Assuming that I have CutePDF Writer installed, or some other software that will create PDFs, I click on File>Print

After clicking on File>Print, the next view that I see is the Print dialog box. PDF writer software installs itself in the printer list for your computer

In the example, you’ll see that I clicked on the downward arrow for the printer Name box, and I’m clicking on Adobe PDF. (If you have CutePDF installed, it will show CutePDF Writer instead of Adobe PDF!)

Once you select the PDF writer, click OK

Now, click on the downward arrow in the Print what: area

You’ll see that you have different choices, but you want to choose Handouts

Now, you need to decide how many slides you want to put on a page.

I have clicked on the downward arrow next to Slides per page.

I’ve selected 6 slides per page, and to the right is a preview of the layout

Click OK, when you’re done choosing your layout!

The next screen you see is the Save PDF File As dialog box

I’ve decided to save this new file to My Documents

The File name will be highlighted in blue. If you want to change the name of the file…just start typing

I decided to change the file name to Introduction, so I typed that in the File name dialog box

Notice that it is saving the file as a .PDF

Click Save and you have created a student-friendly PowerPoint handout!

Here is the first page of my newly created PPT handout

I went from a 42 page PPT to a 7 page document

What a savings in paper and ink!
