OUR ARRANGEMENT

Luke Vincent is an old friend of mine. When I discovered I had to do a music video production pack for my A2 media he kindly offered to write me a song.

We soon agreed that although he is writing the song I have free range to do as I wish for the video as long as he can use it if he ever needs to.

Luke still gets a say in what we do in the video and we often meet up discussing our ideas, deciding for example a few venue ideas, a brief story board giving us a vague idea on who we are using to do what.

With him as the lead guitarist we had to arrange who would make up the remaining band members. We both agreed that whoever they may be should be able to play the instruments to some extent so they do not look like fakes and that they should be reliable.

THE SONG

I was given my first draft of the song on the 23rd of June and the lyrics on the 24th of June 2013

After this I received frequent updates and many other drafts of the song. Until I finally received the final copy on the 15th of September 2013. the only problem was that I believed the lyrics to be to quiet so after some discussion we came to an agreement on how much louder to have them.

This I believed to be quite a big problem as it’s a narrative video and there is a direct link between the visuals and the lyrics, although luckily it was easy to rectify. Luke has his own studio and has done the whole song from there. This gave him the time and ability to make a good quality song, so he was able to simply select the lyrics and turn them up.

WHY?

I must admit when I first talked to Luke about writing the song and working with me on my project I was rather sceptical of some of the ideas he came up with and if he was going to be reliable over the period of time I would need him. After I got my first draft the majority of my worries were washed away as it was sent to me no more than a week after I had first made a casual inquiry to him about the idea. He showed a lot of determination and was making it a high priority to have it finished for me.

He made an effort to meet up and discuss some ideas, and create a brief story board. Also he helped me to find the remaining band members and making sure they would be reliable.

Almost immediately he had made an effort to help and showed he would be a reliable person to include in my music project. He remembered that although it was his song it was my project and I would still have authority over the actual shoot.
