Main character
• Within the opening there should be a main character. The fact that they are in the opening allows the audience to know the character better.

Genre
• The genre should be shown through the opening to all the audience to know what it is about. This could be done by the font of the text, the music, the shot types and what is actually going on in the scene. For example, a horror could have slow eerie music in the background.

Location
• The location of the opening is very important as not only does it help us learn about the main character and the genre but it also gives us a clue about the storyline and where is it taking place.
