The founder of the com pa ny, Mr. AdalbertWendt, is a skilled toolmaker and ran apipe construction company until 1983.

He particularly liked fast motorcycles atthat time. This hobby led to the formationof a racing team in 1983, Fa. RAU Motor -rad tech nik. This team was responsible for the develop-ment of motorcycles which started inter-nationally in the Superbike class. In 1986 the company quarters and work-shops had to be relocated.

During this move a locksmith was called toopen a door at the new business premises. The door had to be opened by force andthe result of a de stroyed door led the fidd-ler and crafter Adalbert Wendt to thinkabout a better solution.

All enquiries to other locksmiths showed that professionallymanufactured and thought out opening tools were notavailable in Europe or were only designed for the AmericanMarket.

In autumn 1986 the first opening tool was already patented. This tool, which is known under the name ZIEH-FIX®, equallycaused excitement and was a sensation. This tool laid the foundation of the company A. WendtSicher heits- und Aufsperr technik GmbH.Meanwhile Adalbert Wendt is owner of numerous patentsand registered designs.

Europe's No. 1 offers one of the most extensive programsof opening tools. It is an assortment of over 1,500 articlesand contains apart of own products selected tools of theworld's most important manufacturers. Even for smallthings a huge selection – that is the strength of Wendt.

Quality tools are crucial for excellent work, safe handling andmore working comfort. The technicians of Wendt combine technical know-how,first-class knowledge and innovative strength. They createhigh-quality tools based on innovative ideas and developedup to readiness for production.Since quality is a high priority for the company each of theown products passes through a severe quality control fromdesign to delivery.

CAD, high-quality raw materials, state of the art productiontechnologies, careful end control and tough practical tests –Wendt will vouch for it.

Julian Hardt, one of only two hail airmenin Germany, is seasonal worker. From Aprilto October he is standing by, in order toavoid larger crop damage. The icy hail can literally smash agriculturalexistences. Owing to a refined technologyit can often be prevented."Actually I am a rainmaker", the airmanexplains. Because the silver iodide, whichhe sprays with his small, particularly equip-

ped machine, causes the forming of very small hailstones -which in the most favorable case melts on the way down -instead of destructive large chunks.

Wendt Cylinder Test

We have tried to manipulate the electronic locking system ofthe CL320 cylinder-series Euro & Swiss profile of the compa-ny KnockN'Lock Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG.

Neither high nor low temperatures, magnetisation, electro-magnetic impulses and electric shocks lead to the desiredresult: Opening was not possible. The attempts to manipulate respectively record the Knock-code or to remotely transfer the code ended without result.

Conclusion:The locking system complied with our expectations andcan be recommended in our opinion.

Opening of locks simply by knocking or telephone call!

Function:With the help of a code-key, the “KnocKey“ tapping signalsare transferred onto solid materials. These constitute the “Knock Code“. Not the tapping signalsare important but the space of time in between. The inter-vals change every time but are not recognisable for thehuman ear.Due to the algorithmic coding the code offers billions of dif-ferent combinations and is therefore absolutely bug-proof!Recording and play-back of a tapping signal do not lead toopening. Manipulation respectively simulation are impossi-ble.On the outside nothing is required! No lock, no doorhandle! The lock only registers the signals on the inside due to thevibration, decodes them and compares them to the registe-red data and opens. So easy.

Door opening by knocking! No advertising stunt but ratherthe concise brief description of the high security lockingsystem of KnockN'Lock.

After close examination through the BSI (Federal Office forInformation Security in Bonn) official confirmation was alsogiven: the used tapping signals can neither be manipulatednor simulated. All demands regarding mechanical stability, manipulation and locking security as well as electrostaticdischarge were achieved completely and the system wastransferred onto the BSI product list. The KnockN'Lock profile-cylinder system (VdS-certificategrade B) offers highest protection against vandalism. It isalso the only system with pin-code and copy protected key(called KnocKey) recommended by the prevention office ofthe police. A distinctive advantage of the KnocKey (the keywith pin-code protection): Even when the key is lost unnoti-ced nobody can misuse it without the pin-code.KnockN'Lock can be used in the private as well as the com-mercial sector. With or without the use of software andoffers all protection features that are required for bankvaults. There is a locking solution for every demand. Evenkeyless opening with keypads is possible. The acoustic technology guarantees conversion withinminutes without great effort as no drilling through or cableinstallation is necessary. The system, which has been awar-ded multiple innovation prizes can also be used to opendoors with a mobile phone by triggering the tapping signalswith a call.

The technique is locatedon the inside of thedoor knob.
