Hi there!

My name is Chenae Carey and I am the creator of

this nifty little workbook. If you have a Facebook

page for your biz, and are looking to give it some

love, create some fresh content or just get it

started then I have created this workbook

especially for you! If you have any questions,

please get in touch: [email protected]

Otherwise, have fun creating content!

Facebook Content PlanA content plan makes it easier for you to schedule and manage your FB page content.

A good content plan will ensure you have an idea about what you're posting onto your Facebook page each week. You plan your content in advance, you write it in advance and you schedule it in advance.

What do I post about? So may people struggle with what to post. It's normal, but it's easy to overcome! The options are literally endless when it comes to content. You just need some inspiration. That's where this workbook comes in!

Try them all, and see what works for your audience.

Share postsAt this stage, sharing can’t be scheduled. But you can get around this by ‘saving’ posts and sharing them at a later date. So when you’re on the go, if you find a post from a third party/other business/friend that really resonates with you and your brand, go ahead and SHARE it. It’s easy enough to do on the go from your phone. Share things that are viral. It's SOCIAL media after all, so not every post needs to be biz related. Everyone loves funny animal videos or jokes! I love the image of the lamb made from cauliflower that says, How to confuse a vegetarian. Google it if you haven't seen it. I occasionally share posts that I enjoy to my Facebook biz page. I also share posts from the biz pages of my clients - you can do that too! Share the love.

Share pagesWe've just looked at sharing posts, but let's talk about sharing PAGES. So, you can share pages that you personally connect with, as well as those that you connect with on your business page. You’re essentially promoting them by associating with them. You can do this by copying their page URL and pasting it into a new post.

For example, if you are a Personal Trainer, you might share a juice bar page, a nutrition and wellness page, Lorna Jane or a healthy recipes page. You might like to share your local coffee shop page that you like to visit every week.

Page 5: Content Ideas Facebook · It's ok to schedule the occasional post pointing your peeps in the right direction. Better yet, have an opt-in and share the link to that. An opt-in is an

Shout outsThe pages you share don't need to reflect exactly what you do in your biz, but they are relevant to you as a person, and shows who and what you support in your local community and in the Facebook community.  If you work with another business, give them a shout out! Many of us outsource something in our business so go ahead and share the love. You just might get one in return!

For example, if you use an accountant or bookkeeper, give them a shout out. Make sure you tag them so they get the notification. Other services you might like to refer are bookkeepers, graphic designers, marketing gurus, mentors, healers, business coaches and website builders – to name a few. You can shout out to anyone. It makes them feel good and you're spreading love across Facebook. Feel free to tag me in a shout out when you do this workbook - I’d totally love that!

BlogsIf you have a blog, you should be publishing content regularly (weekly, fortnightly, monthly). ANY time you publish a blog article, you MUST share it across your social media platforms. Get your content out there! You put in the hard yards to write it, your creative genius and advice needs to be seen by as many eyes as possible.

Page 6: Content Ideas Facebook · It's ok to schedule the occasional post pointing your peeps in the right direction. Better yet, have an opt-in and share the link to that. An opt-in is an

For example, if you have an essential oil biz, you could share an article you've written, “check out my latest blog article on chemical free cleaners, where I explore the impacts of toxic cleaning products around the house with small children and look at the alternatives you can use to make your home safer.”

You can also share other blogs too. Blogs = reading = time, so make sure it's a compelling article.

SubscribeIt is important to remind your followers to subscribe to your mailing list/newsletter. If you’re using MailChimp, it’s really simple to integrate a form onto your Facebook page that will feed straight into Mail Chimp. It's ok to schedule the occasional post pointing your peeps in the right direction.

Better yet, have an opt-in and share the link to that. An opt-in is an incentive for people to subscribe to your mailing list. It's a freebie, that is valuable and is delivered to them when they subscribe.

This workbook is my opt-in!

Once a month is a good time frame to start off with.

Page 7: Content Ideas Facebook · It's ok to schedule the occasional post pointing your peeps in the right direction. Better yet, have an opt-in and share the link to that. An opt-in is an

ImagesWhen using an image in your post, keep the text light on. If your image is too text-heavy, people will scroll right past it. As a general rule, try to avoid posts that are text only. The risk of people scrolling past a text- only post is high. I would be less likely to stop and read a text-only post than a post including a captivating image. Would you?

Create images with WordSwag or Canva. Come up with a theme that matches your branding or create a branding style using the app. Keep up consistency with this branding so your followers recognise your posts. You'll notice that my posts have similar colours, and yes - it's intentional.

InspirationThere’s loads of inspiration out there. Share it, or create your own, using tip #6. There's wholehearted inspiration, pick-me-up inspiration, funny inspiration and quirky inspiration to name a few. Sprinkle inspiration throughout your content. I encourage you to try your hand at creating your own. You can do this by sharing your learnings, a-ha moments and realisations. Pop your name on it if it's yours. You can take inspiration a little further and post about who or what inspires you. It could be your children, a parent, a role model, a difference- maker, a mentor or it could be a place, a memory or a personal experience.

Page 8: Content Ideas Facebook · It's ok to schedule the occasional post pointing your peeps in the right direction. Better yet, have an opt-in and share the link to that. An opt-in is an

PromotionSome suggest an 80/20 or even 90/10 split when it comes to promotional posts and non-promotional posts. The regularity of your promo posts depends on how often you post, and what you’re offering. This varies for everyone but if you're posting daily, try doing a promo post once a fortnight to start, and see how it goes. You can always spread them further out, or bring them closer together. Remember - nothing is set in stone on social media!

Make sure that you vary your offers, as different price points, products and services will appeal to different people. You can even mix it up and throw in an occasional freebie. For example, offer 3 x 20 minute sessions for free (or cheap) to generate interest and conversation by asking people to comment below to secure a spot. If you choose to offer freebies or cheap offers, please ensure that you are comfortable doing so.

tipsUse tips that are relevant to your field. If you are in health and nutrition, post tips about health and nutrition. If you are a coach, post tips that are supportive and get people thinking about how they do it. If you are a bookkeeper, post tips like, 'Money you withdraw out of your business is NOT an expense and should not be on your Profit & Loss report. It should go under Equity.' (Tip credit: Delaney Van Baalen)

Page 9: Content Ideas Facebook · It's ok to schedule the occasional post pointing your peeps in the right direction. Better yet, have an opt-in and share the link to that. An opt-in is an

Tips are valuable and you want to give your followers value – tips are free for you and valuable to them. Holding all of your cards close to your chest can make you feel closed off to your fans.

Educate Share the love! Educate your followers and teach them what you know. This creates credibility and demonstrates your knowledge. Educating your audience sets you up as an expert in your field and people who know you share valuable content will look out for posts from you. Remember that your audience doesn't know everything that you know, so you can educate people by sharing simple tips and tricks. Educational posts are of value to your followers, and giving value is important.

Try to keep your posts short and sweet as much as possible, to keep your followers interested. If you have a lot to share on a particular subject, either look at splitting the content up over a series of posts, or record a video.

AnnouncementsLaunching something? Planning a new offer or product? Hiring a new employee? Got some awesome personal news? Announce it! If you are a solo-preneur, you ARE your business so share what’s happening in your world.

Page 10: Content Ideas Facebook · It's ok to schedule the occasional post pointing your peeps in the right direction. Better yet, have an opt-in and share the link to that. An opt-in is an

For example, if you are heading away on an awesome holiday, announce it! If you are celebrating a birthday, announce it! When you’ve had a brainstorming session and you’ve come up with an amazing new concept, announce it! If you have an idea for a new product or service, announce it!

SelfiesIf you are a solo-preneur, you ARE your business so don’t hide your face. You don’t need to be taking selfies every single day but make sure that your followers know who you are and what you look like.

Note: If you’re not one for taking photos yourself, get some taken by a friend or get some shots taken by a photographer who is starting out (I used Helen Maree Photography in Brisbane). Set yourself up with some settings that are relevant to your business. If you’re in spiritual field, you might like to include tarot cards or crystals in the photos or background. You might like to include your business colours in your outfit by way of accessories.

MindsetMindset is huge nowadays. If your niche doesn’t organically incorporate mindset elements (eg. life coaching, health and weight loss), find out how you can incorporate it into what your business is all about. Explain how mindset is relevant, how you work with it, and outcomes that are achieved.

Page 11: Content Ideas Facebook · It's ok to schedule the occasional post pointing your peeps in the right direction. Better yet, have an opt-in and share the link to that. An opt-in is an

Note: take a look at other Facebook pages in your field and see what they do - and use that for content ideas.

This is a great way to do your market research. If you are a PT and you want to find out when your target market exercise, ask them. If you want to get an understanding of what motivates them to eat healthy, ask! You can also have some fun and ask if they prefer peanut butter or vegemite. Remember, it’s SOCIAL media!

Note: comments create comments. Rally your ‘cheerleaders’ (friends and family who support your business) and get them to comment on your posts. Ask them to comment right after you publish your post to get things moving quickly. Don’t have the same person being the only one commenting, mix it up and ask a few different people. This can boost your enthusiasm when starting out with regular content, to keep you going!

Questions

teaser postsIf you’ve come up with a great offer that you’re working on, get the word out there. Try posts like: “coming soon – a hot new e-book!” or “Stay tuned – there’s a new product coming soon!” or “I’m working on an exciting new service, and I can’t wait to share it with you!”

Page 12: Content Ideas Facebook · It's ok to schedule the occasional post pointing your peeps in the right direction. Better yet, have an opt-in and share the link to that. An opt-in is an

Don’t just put your offer up, run a teaser campaign instead of one-off posts. You can run a teaser campaign for a while, you might have an idea about a new service so while you figure out the logistics of the service, start talking about it on Facebook and create some interest! Sneak peek images are great. If it’s a book, share a photo of the corner of one page. If you're working on a logo, share snippets of it! Re- branding or re-building your website? Tease your followers with snippets along the way!

A recipe is not just for food! Think outside the box, because recipes can be for anything. For example, a recipe for the perfect house cleaning session is great music, your best daggy clothes and some quality products to make life easy. A recipe for balancing a family and a business is 200g quality time with the family, 400g time for yourself and a dash of business coaching to keep you sane. The recipe for an exceptional relationship can be made up of quality time, connection, love, trust, understanding etc. See where I'm going here?!

Of course if you work with food, share traditional recipes too! If you can, use alliteration to make your recipe names fun, like Chenae's Chocolate Cheesecake, Chenae's Churros or Chenae's Chicken Curry.

Workout plansA workout plan doesn’t have to be all about exercise. If you are in the health arena, then absolutely go for it – but even if you’re not you can do a workout plan. Here's a twist on this concept:

For a Norwex consultant, you can create a cleaning workout plan that includes 80s music, a Norwex cleaning cloth and 1 hour of solid housework. That’s sure to work up a sweat! Have a bit of fun thinking about how you can create a workout plan for the mind, the body, your finances - whatever is relevant to your niche!

IT advice isn’t everyone’s field but if you have a go-to person, refer them! If you’ve got IT advice that you’ve learned along the way you can share that too.

For example, if you’re looking to screen share during a video session, you can do that quite easily but not everyone knows about it!

Got a good VA? Share that too!

EventsIf you run events, ensure that you have a Facebook event hosted by your page. Share the event, talk about it regularly and make sure your fans know that you're running an event! If you don’t run events, try sharing relevant events to your page, client events and events you plan to attend. Referrals are great.

Note: for paid events run through a service such as Eventbrite, add the link to purchase tickets to your Facebook event, or simply share the Eventbrite link straight to your Facebook biz page.

Videos! If you're not using Facebook live, I HIGHLY recommend you get on that bandwagon! And do it, like, yesterday. Start with short and sweet videos, you can even do your first video about doing your first video! "This is my first FB live and I have no idea what I am doing! Thank you for watching, I'll do another again soon!" The more you do videos, the more comfortable it will become. Remember that it's ok to be yourself, be authentic, real and unrehearsed.

Not all videos need to be professionally produced but there’s some important elements to consider. Make sure when you create videos on a smart phone that you film in landscape, and look at the camera, NOT yourself on the screen. Get yourself in a spot with good lighting and no background noise for a great start.

Create your contentYou can create a template to create content. I

recommend daily posting, but be realistic.

Step 1: Grab a piece of paper or a blank document on

your computer, and create 8 rows and 3 columns.

Step 2. Use this workbook to start filling in your ideas!

Simples!

Post your contentIf you’re thinking to yourself right now, I don’t have the time to get onto Facebook and post twice per day every single day! -

never fear! Facebook scheduling will take care of that for

you so you can sit down for an hour and schedule all of your

content from whichever device you choose. These

instructions are for a computer.

STEP 1: Write a post on your Facebook biz page

#whatisahashtaganyway?

A #hashtag is a word or a phrase preceded by a hash sign (#), used on social media sites to identify messages on a specific topic. Hashtags can be searched to see any posts including that topic. They were originally used on Twitter for trending topics, and can now be found on many social media platforms. Here’s some examples:

#nrlgrandfinal #worldanimalday #domesticviolenceawareness #worldcup2015

The concept has been somewhat bastardised, sometimes hashtags are used to replace whole sentences. Here are some real life examples I’ve seen:

#OliviaHasToHaveSomethingOnThatMatchesPoppy #SheIsARealFarmerNow

Hashtags can be fun, don't be afraid to use them!

Bonus Content!

Now it’s your turn! #hashtagyourself

Use the space below to come up with some ideas for hashtags.

# # #

Once you’ve narrowed it down to a few, publish a Facebook post asking for everyone to vote for their favourite. Ask 3 or 4 people to post their answers straight away to get the ball rolling and you’ll see comments come flooding in. You may like to do a reminder post before you close the voting to let everyone know that voting closes soon, to get their votes in if they haven’t already. Once a clear winner is revealed, announce it!

Of course, you’ll need to use the hashtag in your announcement! Once you’ve got your hashtag, go back to your calendar and see where you can add hashtags to your content. Note: you can only use a hashtag once in a post on Facebook. Any additional uses of a hashtag won’t be hyperlinks.
