INTRODUCTION Environmental degradation is an issue of increasing concern for all of us.

The deterioration of the environment through depletion of resources, such as air, water and soil.

The destruction of ecosystems and the extinction of wildlife. We only have one earth to work with, and if the environment is irreparably compromised, it could mean the end of human existence.

CONTINUE Environmental degradation is a process through which the natural environment is compromised in some way, reducing biological diversity and the general health of the environment.

This process can be entirely natural in origin, or it can be accelerated or caused by human activities.

Many international organizations recognize environmental degradation as one of the major threats facing the planet, since humans have only been given one earth ti work with, end if the environment becomes irreparably compromised, it could mean the end of human existence.

EFFECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION

CAUSES OF ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION

AIR DEGRADATION Air pollution is the introduction of chemicals, particulate matter, or biological materials that cause harm to humans and destroy the natural environment

Its also effects very badly to the Earth’s ecosystems.

WATER DEGRADATION Water pollution is the contamination

of water bodies such as lakes, rivers, oceans, and groundwater. All water pollution affects organisms and plants that live in these water bodies and in almost all cases the effect is damaging either to individual species and pollutions but also to the natural biological communities.

It occurs when pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without adequate treatment to remove harmful constituents.

LAND DEGRADATION Land pollution is the degradation of

Earth’s land surfaces often caused by human activities and their misuse of land resources. It occurs when waste is not disposed properly . Disposal of urban and industrial wastes, exploitation of minerals, and improper use of soil by inadequate agricultural practices are a few factors. Urbanization and industrialization are high causes of land pollution. The Industrial Revolution set a series of events into motion which destroyed natural habitats and polluted the environment, causing diseases in both humans and animals.

FACTS AND FIGURES OF ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION Environmental degradation costs India $80 billion annually. Environmental degradation costs India about Rs.3.75 trillion ($80 billion) annually - equivalent to 5.7 percent of the GDP - with air pollution being a major contributor, a World Bank report released Wednesday said.

the impact of outdoor air pollution accounts for the highest share at 1.7 percent followed by cost of indoor air pollution at 1.3 percent.

23 percent of child mortality in the country could be attributed to environmental degradation.

LEARNINGS Reduce wastage

Reuse the product

Save environment

And it is also affect on country’s economy.

CONCLUSION From all above I conclude that environmental degradation is one of the big

issue for us.

So save the natural resources

And save the environment.
