Evidence of Construction of DPS (Double Page Spread)

•Second Draft•Final Draft

Page 2: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

In the requirements it stated that the DPS had to be A3, so in order to do this I had to create a new page and alter the size which was originally A4 to

A3.

Next, I had to format the page to Landscape because a standard page for landscape is rotated

at 90 degrees.

Second Draft

Page 3: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

The first image is a picture that I took to run through each page. The second image is the transformation made when I altered it using Brightness/Contrast. I

increased the Brightness to +27 because it illuminated the page more. Then, I applied

Hue/Saturation to enhance the brightness evermore.

Page 4: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

Here, I took this images and edited by using Hue and Saturation I increased the

Hue to +56 which resulted in giving a reddish tone I transformed the image by

rotating to the left. Same with the second image below.

Page 5: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

I added a headline stating ‘IT’S A RIOT’. The font I chose is called ‘Punk kid’ which cause curiosity on the viewers because they both match really well

together.

Page 6: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

I created the banner using Microsoft Publisher. I was able to convert it to Photoshop and incorporate text. The font is Stencil and the size is differentiated with

different words. I did this because it would create more emphasis and a sense of paranoia considering the

element of an element.

Page 7: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

I inserted text to fill the content with background information. I changed the font because I didn’t want

Stencil because it would look to compact and squashed but mainly hard to read.

Final Draft

Page 9: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

I took this image in my photo shoot and applied to the DPS background.

Page 10: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

For the background setting I formatted the background to the image I

captured.

Then, I chose the Brightness/Contrast effect. I increased the brightness to

+127 and the contrast to +26

Page 11: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

Here, is the final transition of the background setting. I incorporated Hue/Saturation and set the Hue at +6 and Lightness at +48 but the Saturation at -45, I did this because I

didn’t want to condense the page seeing as it was the DPS and it had to be efficient to read.

Page 12: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

I chose this image because I like the background and it

applied to the specific trend for grunge; rough and urban.

I edited the image on Photoshop and used the

colour balance tool which enabled me to increase the ‘Cyan’ option to +100 and the Magenta to +17 which

gives the image that burgundy tone and the

yellow to +12

Page 13: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

Now, I chose the Hue/Saturation tool to give a rusty effect and increased the

Hue to +2 and increased the Saturation to +76 which composites the red out even more even in the lighter areas.

After that, I chose the Brightness and Contrast tool and decreased the

brightness to -83 and increased the Contrast to +100, which makes the image a darker red in various areas

Page 14: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

I transformed the image by clicking ‘Ctrl T’ I transformed the image to the left so it looked like a poster as if it

actually was stuck on the brick wall. Then, I got the same image and duplicated it so there's two afterwards I tilt

the image to the left and then resized it bigger.

I resized the image because I planned to add text to the second image so in order to have the text big

and bold the second image had to be bold.

Page 15: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

I transformed the image and tilt it to the left and I ad t bring the layer forward because it

was hidden behind the layer below. Then, I filled the font with the colour white because it would

engage the readers more and reinforce the word ‘RIOT!’

Page 16: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

I also transformed ‘RIOT’ because I wanted to show continuity and consistency. They both share the same font other than the size. The ‘RIOT’ heading is 200 pt, I wanted differences in font because it the word riot connotes big

features.

I made the text white again because I wanted

to show continuity throughout the

headline.

Page 17: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

I Here, I had to edit the image so I can transform and then rotate it round so

it can fit well. I had to minimize the image because it was really big before, however the I couldn't use the magic wand to edit out the fingers

because t would ruin the whole appearance of the guitar.

Page 18: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

Here, I transferred the image to the DPS by dragging it to the specific place I wanted it.

Similar to the top, I dragged the feature to the exact place I want it. I

made sure the text was not intercepting the main headline

because it would ruin the appearance of the format .

Again, I dragged the image to the place I wanted it but I had to be careful because it

was hidden so I had to shift the layer upwards after the headline layer.

Page 19: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

When inserted the text I want to give the text a black and white pattern. I did this because it gave an effect that really was eccentric and unconventional which

channels from the origins of Grunge. I had to be very careful so I zoomed in to

make sure every word was in exact place for either colours.

Page 20: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

Here, I inserted the ’EXCLUSIVE’, I used Stencil as my font

because I wanted to keep a consistent

theme running through, as I

incorporated it in my front cover and table of contents

I then added a black box which will have the word ‘EXCLUSIVE’. I had to use the box tool

to position where I wanted to space the Box, I didn't have to fill the box because before I

clicked the fill button and chose Black.

Page 21: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

The DPS text was next contributed and I used the Bell Gothic Std font because it was standard and it gave a professional uncluttered appearance which suited well with the scheme of the DPS.

I chose size 20 because I wanted the text to be readable but also have the page filled with a reasonable amount of background information.

Page 22: Construction of DPS (double page spread)

I made this arrow on publisher and it consists a yellow fill and a golden border. I made three to reflect a striking

feature. Constructing three of the arrows requires consistency because they all had to be tilted on an angle

but appear in a straight line.

I imported an Image I took form a concert and places it on the black footer. I did this to expand the content more so the image could evoke more

of a perspective on the audience.
