COURSE OUTLINEThis unit requires the person to demonstrate
personal awareness and knowledge of
health and safety legislative requirements
in order to work safely and prevent
injury or harm to self and others.
It covers identifying and orally reporting common
construction hazards, understanding basic risk
control measures, and identifying procedures
for responding to potential incidents and
emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and
fitting common personal protective equipment
(PPE) used for construction work, and identifying
and following safety and emergency signage.

CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
Upon successful completion of this course
participants will be sent a Statement of
Attainment for CPCCWHS1001 - Work safely
in the construction industry and issued with the
“Working Across Borders (WhiteCard).”
The White Card course (CPCCWHS1001 - Prepare to
work safely in the construction industry) is a mandatory
requirement for anyone who wants to work in the
construction industry. This course specifies the mandatory
work health and safety training required prior to undertaking
construction work. The White Card course is nationally
recognised.

From the 1st of February 2019 the Queensland
state government has introduced changes to
the General Safety Induction course – White
Card.
The changes are:
• You are no longer able to get a White Card
online unless you live more than 100km from
a registered training provider offering face-to-
face delivery.
• An exemption allowing online delivery is
available where the student is located at least
100 kilometres away from the nearest RTO
offering the course by face to face delivery.
