MONTHLY ACTIVITY REPORT-September 2016 1. Sankalp Team organized its second Annual Cultural Fest Sanskriti 2016 on 2 nd Oct 2016. 2. The event was grander that the previous one as Esteemed and Distinguished Guests like Mr Subodh Srivastava, Ex-President, Tata Workers Union, Ms Usha Shankar Pandey, President- BJP Mahila Morcha,Jharkhand and Mr Gyan Shanker Srivastava , President, Shastri Foundation graced the occasion as our Guests and distributed prizes and certificates to winners 3. Telco Centre emerged as the overall champion with Aashiyana Centre as first runner up and Mohan Nagar Centre as second runner up. 4. Volunteers organized the entire event very professionally and the enthusiasm level was unmatched. 5. Sankalp Team got another humongous support when Neha, Ankita Sahoo and Kaushik from Mtech 2016 batch joined Sankalp as volunteers. They have been entrusted with the responsibility of managing classes at NIT Centre. 6. Sankalp got request from Narsi Monjie Institute of Management Studies to provide projects for its graduates as part of their Project for Social Entrepreneurship Sustainability Management. 7. Earlier graduates from XIMB Bhubaneshwar and XLRI, Jamshedpur were provided internship by Sankalp for various projects. 8. Local Jamshedpur based dailies gave wide recognition and publicity to Sankalp and its efforts by publishing articles highlighting various events and Sankskiti. The articles focussed on the philanthropic work done by Sankalp across the city over the years. 9. TML Drivelines, our prime sponsor for Telco Centre children conducted counselling session for Sankalp students. The session was led by Shri Sampath Sir, CEO of TML Drivelines and around 50 officers of TML Drivelines. The session was organized as part of Tata Volunteering Week under which all Tata Group Employees are supposed to do volunteering work. 10. The Team also donated 2 carpets (daris) for the Centre, 1 Map and stationeries 11. TML team asked Sankalp to submit proposal for establishing two more centres in Telco area of Jamshedpur for which Sankalp has already started surveying in educationally backward blocks of Telco 12. Shrema Singh, Sankalp Volunteer 2k12 batch who now works with Morgan Stanley in Bangalore visited an orphanage and donated items of daily use and stationeries to orphans residing at the orphanage. 13. Sankalp has started special English language classes at NIT centre. Siney and Ayushi, both 2nd year volunteers have taken this lead and were given Oxford English Grammar Composition 14. Teachers’ day was celebrated with fun and tributes were offered to our Ex-President Dr. Sarvappali Radhakrishnan. Cultural events were also organized as part of the celebrations and students were shown documentaries related to great icons of the world. 15. 19. Leaky roof at MN centre has been renovated and the entire expenses were borne by Sankalp Team.

20. Sankalp submitted complete financial details and Cash Flow for the monetary support we received from SNL Bearings. The report was mailed and acknowledgement was received from the company.

21. Manish and TML Employees have planned a zoo trip for Telco centre students on 21st Sep. The trip was organized as part of Tata Volunteering Week by TML Drivelines.

22. Minutes of meetings for MIG Centre Action Plan: 1. PR will be held to increase the strength in both the batches at MIG centre 2. Digital classes for senior batch will be on weekends (Sat and Sun) at MIG centre and the syllabus is prescribed in the Sanjeevani. Navodaya team will chalk down the plans for the same. 3.Jasbir and Avinash will conduct CT at MIG centre.

2. PR was done, strength consistent at 60 3. Teacher’s changed and good feedback about the new one. 4. CT report already submitted unit test report to be shared. 5. Insisted for more frequent calls from our side.

25. As discussed with Vivek Sir on India trip.one pager document containing detailed plans for materializing various activities in the next few months were mailed to him.

PROPOSAL FOR ESTABLISHING THE CENTRE AS A MODEL CENTRE AND ADD TO OUR ACTIVITY

1. Sankalp would like to continue with the current module and free of cost tuition scheme for

two batches.

a. Class 1-5 ( Taken by Ms Neha, Ms Priyanka and Ms. Saraswati)

b. Class 6th and above ( Taken by Mr Dilip and Mr. Rajen who are experienced Teachers

from Gayatri Shiksha Niketan )

2. Digital Classes and related requirements

a. Sankalp volunteers have formed teams to provide computer education to children of

both the batches.

b. An adequate & comprehensive syllabus has been drafted to cover not only the

basics of computers but also using IT Tools as a part of daily life.

c. Students in each batch would be divided in groups of 5 for imparting lessons in

digital classes by volunteers

d. As each class would consist of 3-4 such groups, a total of 5 tablets would be

sufficient to cover the entire batch.

e. In addition to tablets, certain amenities would be required to run the classes in an

efficient and arranged manner such as fans, tube-lights, pen-drive

4. Scholarship Scheme for new entrants in St Mary’s Convent (Hindi-Medium) School

a. Sankalp Team would identify 5 bright kids in 2017-2018 academic sessions and

award them with Empowered Kids Foundation Scholarship which would sponsor

their complete annual educational expenditure.

27. Madhepura centre update:* 1. Sanjevani has been handed over. Gradually this will be followed as the primary level book 2. Test couldn't be conducted this month. Have asked for last test's mark sheet, to be provided by tomorrow. 3. Average strength 90-95. Today's strength was around 70 due to heavy rainfall 4. Test paper needs to be sent for this month ASAP. Can be sent on WhatsApp itself. He has no issues with that. 5. Presently anything taught is in Hindi. Have insisted to stick to English for all subjects other than Hindi literature/language. 6. English teacher is to be finalised, search for which is going on. Meeting with a potential teacher is scheduled on 1st.

28. Dhanbad Centre Report: 1. All 3teachers coming are coming regularly 2.70-80 students are coming presently 3.Sanjeevni are following up 4.Last test was conducted on 24th sept 5 Drawing competition and some activities were held last week 6. 2 markers are needed 7.Still d problem of water leakage from one side during heavy rain not solved.

29. Ms. Rachana Tripathy and Mr. Shashank from Tata Steel are currently completing their project with Sankalp. The two interns from the famous Tata Engage mission will submit the detail of all the companies based in Jharkhand, whom Sankalp can approach for CSR funds.

30. President has started taking English Language Classes at Imli Chauk Centre as part of the Language Skills Improvement Projects at Sankalp centres.

31. Sankalp started inviting applications f or internship and volunteering at Sankalp offering exciting roles and opportunities for interns thru its online application portal. The link and platform was developed by 2k11 batch Alumnus Mr. Ashutosh

32. Prashant, a needy student from our Mohan Nagar Centre will now be tutored personally by Dheeraj, Murtaza and Abhishek for physics, chemistry and maths.

33. Akanskha and Nidhi from 2k14 batch will now be heading the sponsorship team. A detailed session was organized to train them on methods and processes of tracking sponsors.

34. Special classes for improving English language skills are now conducted weekly at our Mohan Nagar Centre and Special classes for senior students from Class 11th and 12th have also been started

35. Second Year Volunteers have been divided into different teams based upon their inclinations to provide thrust and speed to various activities of Sankalp
