The Kissimmee Valley 

of Central Florida is home to some of Amer-

ica's most rare and spectacular birds. Among

them are the Everglades Snail Kite, Sandhill

Crane, Whooping Crane, Crested Caracara,

Wood Stork, Grasshopper Sparrow, and Flor-

ida Scrub Jay (pictured here).

The Kissimmee Chain of Lakes has the highest

concentration of nesting Bald Eagles in the

lower 48 states.

KVAS IN ACTION

Conservation Committee works to maintainhealthy wildlife and ecosystems and humanquality of life in the face of unprecedenteddevelopment pressures.

Beginning Bird Watching classes are pre-sented by experienced birders.

Gatorland Project  tracks wading and shore

birds nesting in colonies in cooperation withAudubon’s Colony Watch program.
