Diversity on the Worksite

Austin Power Partners, has been networking diligently to reach the federal funded DBE project goal of 25%. APP has released (3) bid packages in an effort to find qualified contractors and subcontractors to join the team. To date, we have approximately 30 DBE subs contracted to work on our project with more joining in the next several months. APP continues to network and make “connections” to build a successful project.

“Coming together is a

beginning; keeping

together is progress;

working together is

success.”

DBE TIPS Always carry your business

cards and polish up your “Elevator Speech.”

Add NAICS Codes and CSI codes to your business cards.

Keep your DBE certifica-tions current.

Make positive eye contact when shaking hands and when speaking with

individuals. Always give a firm hand-

shake! __________________________

Connecting Through Outreach

EEO Compliance Overview

Austin Power Partners hosted our second “Meet the Primes” networking event

at the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters Apprentice and Training Center

on April 23rd. James Chillers of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance

program (OFCCP) came to speak to the contractors about compliance assis-

tance for construction contractors. He informed the contractors about the ben-

efit of job seekers and wage earners, the contractual promise of affirmative

action and equal employment opportunity required of those who do business

with the Federal Government.

The third “Meet the Primes” event was held on

June 6th. The Prime Contractors and potential

DBE Sub-contractors had a chance to meet and

discuss their qualifications. Contractors and

DBE sub-contractors networked through speed-

dating.
