Thanks to Australian and Victorian Government funding, RIAC is currently able to empower communities across 22 local government areas spanning throughout regional Victoria and southern New South Wales. RIAC is funded by the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments to provide issue based, individual and systemic advocacy assistance to people living with a disability. RIAC is also funded for a National Disability Insurance Scheme Appeals Program which plays an important role in ensuring that National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) decisions are fair and robust. Position Overview

The Communications and Marketing Intern will provide assistance with the maintenance of RIAC’s website and social media platforms.

The role will work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager, providing support for all matters related with (IT) website updates and social media content. The role may also require researching online content, related to RIAC’s objectives to upload to the website and social media.

The role would also include capturing the stories and narrative of our staff, clients and community members through video/ podcast and other mediums and share these with the greater community.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Familiarity with social media platforms and monitoring systems. Assisting with producing content for digital and social media (i.e., RIAC website, Facebook,

twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo, Snapchat, TikTok etc.) Online research on trending subjects relative to the disability sector (i.e., The Royal

Commission, NDIS) and collating information for the preparation of information. Sharing media through digital and social media platforms. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Experience using databases and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook,

PowerPoint) and Internet. Ability to deliver and complete key administration tasks and projects within a set timeframe,

with the direction of the volunteer coordinator or delegate. High level of Customer service required at all times, ensuring all stakeholders, are treated

with the utmost respect and dignity.

Position Requirements(Skills, Qualifications & Experience)

Essential

1. Communication / Interpersonal Skills

Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Must be able to work effectively and positively with people.

Strong attention to detail Creative, positive and solutions focused working style Ability to work as a team to produce results within short deadlines Ability to work constructively both independently and as part of a team

3. Experience in Community Sector Ability to actively support RIAC’s purpose and values Ability to work in accordance with RIAC’s values, policies and procedures Understanding of the Disability Sector is desirable A passion for disability and tackling human rights issues Respect for and understanding of culturally and linguistically diverse communities. A genuine commitment and interest in working within Disability Advocacy sector.

4. Experience in Multi Media Preferably experience in managing media channels and developing innovative social media

content – including developing innovative and engaging digital content for a diverse audience.

Experience in managing and implementing paid social media campaigns and providing media measurement.

Other position requirements:

The completion of a satisfactory National Police Records Check. Working with Children Check Required statutory declarations

Desirable

Currently undertaking study in Journalism, Media, Marketing, Communications or a related field.

Experienced in Photoshop, photo editing and video editing.

Eligibility Requirements

Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate University degree OR

Enrolled in a Certificate IV or Diploma at TAFE
