BANKINGBANKINGBANKINGBANKING
Student banking is a great way of fundraising for the school. The school receives $5.00 for each new account opened by a student. For every
deposit the students make the bank donates 5% of each deposit, which goes directly back to the school. So all in all it’s a win-win situation for all concerned. Students are saving money, and at the same time raising money for the school to get new books, sports equipment or whatever is needed most. So if you don’t already have an account, why not open one today!!!!!!
** Deposits are made each Thursday.
Any students wishing to partake in student banking can obtain the forms from the office.

The Western Port Festival... Each year our school participates in the Western Port Parade. This year’s theme is “VIKINGS” – Celebrating the 950th Anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. Do some research and come up with the best costumes you can - have some fun with it! We could be traditional Vikings, modern day ones or we could even build a cardboard ship! Be creative and make our school stand out from the crowd, the possibilities are endless! If you have a great idea write it down or come and chat with us in the office! February 20th will soon be here and we need to get planning!
During the past year, our school has attained exceptional results within the 3 independently surveyed areas; The Student Attitudes to School survey; The Parent Opinion survey and the Staff Opinion survey. The surveys indicate that our students are connected to the school environment, motivated to learn and feel that their teachers plan their lessons for them as individuals. This has been corroborated by the response from families as well. In the NAPLAN added value scores, our school is achieving better then the state average in all areas of English. With this in mind, our focus for 2016 will be on continuing to improve our achievements in student wellbeing and literacy with an increased emphasis in Mathematics, Science, Creativity and Intercultural Understandings. To support achieving this goal, I would warmly like to welcome Mrs Christine Rossi who will be joining our school in 2016. Chris has extensive experience in education at the primary and secondary level and as a regional consultant within the areas of Mathematics and Science. Chris will be a valued addition to our learning and teaching team, as our school continues to enhance the opportunities for our children and their future prospects. Carole Mayes ~ Principal
Look what Grade 4 have been up to …!
Our Grade 4 students have been fortunate to be involved in a program directly communicating with 월평초등학
교병설유치원 (Wolpyeong Elementary School) in Korea!! Once a week, the students speak to each other using
video conferencing technology. The students have enjoyed meeting and talking to each other. We take turns in presenting Information Reports to one another, providing a unique insight into each other’s society, culture and beliefs. We are looking forward to next week when we get to open gifts that we have sent to each other to symbolise our appreciation of being involved in this fantastic program. Here is what some of our student had to say ...
I loved meeting our pen pals, but I
most enjoyed writing all the letters.
From: Shelby
I think that learning with Korea is so
fun. I hope that Korea enjoys it as
much as I do.
From: Charlize
I really enjoy talking to Korea because I have learnt a lot of new information. We have our own buddies and I enjoy taking to them.
From: Madaline
I like talking to Korea. I would like to know what it is like living there.
From: Bailey
Since the last day of Term 1, the Year 4 students have been communicating with Korea on Skype. One by one, we have been presenting. I was with Caden, Maddy and Cloe. I enjoyed it the most and our subject was sport. My Korean buddy is a girl but I forgot her name. Very soon. We will be opening the box full of Korean things which will be interesting. I wonder what they are. From: Jake L
