CONGRATULATIONS!
I’m afraid that we’re not the sort of search firm that sends
placed candidates a bottle of champagne (sorry!), but we
wondered if you would be happy for us to make a small
donation to charity in your name...
We’ve handpicked the following ten charity gift options.
If you let us know which one you like the sound of, then we
will purchase it on your behalf.
On another separate note, once news of your appointment is in
the public domain, we would love to write a short piece about
you for our website. If you are happy for us to do this, then
perhaps you would be kind enough to send us a photo of you
that we can use in the article?
We are delighted about your appointment, and would
like to wish you every success in your new role.
Give a Goat In countries like Sudan and Bangladesh, a goat can be a lifesaver. They
provide families with enough milk to keep them healthy, with natural
fertiliser for their crops, and even with a source of income to pay for food,
education, or vital medicine.
Make a Child Smile After a terrible hardship, children need time to play. It helps them
overcome their trauma and regain a sense of normality. This bundle of
gifts includes an art set, a football and various toys. Play can make a real
difference to a young person dealing with difficult circumstances.
Purchase a Piglet Breeding pigs to sell can be a fast way of increasing a family’s income,
enabling them to buy essentials such as soap, salt, and clothing. Families
earning an income in this way can save enough money to diversify into
even more areas.
Buy a Compost Bin In Sri Lanka and India, people are being encouraged to use waste
products to make their own compost bins. As well as generating vital
income when sold, the bins help improve the local environment and enable
families to grow fruit and vegetables at home.
Invest in the Oil Business Arabs, Jews, Bedouins and Druze in Israel, as well as Palestinian farmers
on the West Bank, work together to grow, press, bottle and market this
brand of olive oil. Men and women from all communities co-operate on
this project in friendship. Small donations help to keep the initiative going.
Winter Warmth Kit
As many as a third of elderly people in the UK suffer from fuel poverty,
unable to meet their heating bills. This ‘Winter Warmth Kit’ includes a bed-
jacket and a hand-knitted knee rug, as well as gloves, a blanket, a scarf, a
thermos, and even cup-a-soup packs.
Give 20 People Safe Drinking Water This gift will help Oxfam in their water and sanitation (WS) projects. With
your support, they will set up or maintain a safe water supply for a rural
area, with pumps, tanks or purification systems. Safe water saves lives. It
helps families to thrive. It can even kick-start a community.
Help a Young Homeless Person Many young homeless people struggle to maintain a healthy lifestyle. They
suffer from a poor diet and a lack of regular exercise. Centrepoint’s
healthy living classes can help teach these young people vital skills
through various workshops and hands-on activities.
Provide a Year's Schooling The value of education is simply incalculable. It offers children a route out
of poverty, it can begin to change social norms, and it helps to foster a
new generation of leaders. In Africa, it costs as little as £26 to educate a
child for a whole year, potentially equipping them with a brighter future.
OMG - Fluffy Ducks!! Poor families in Bangladesh really appreciate their ducks. The eggs are
nutritious and tasty, while the ducks themselves can also be bred and sold
to generate desperately needed income. This income helps to pay for
food, clothing, and other necessities.
