Reflection of the Gospel:

In Jesus’ final moments on the cross he is surround-

ed by people calling out, “save yourself.” The rulers,

soldiers, and eve one of the criminals being crucified

at his side repeat this taunt. In their words we might

hear an echo of the temptation Jesus underwent at

the very beginning of his ministry, when the devil

asks him to change rock into bread to sate his hun-

ger, or to throw himself from the parapet of the tem-

ple and be saved by angels. Jesus refuses, of course.

Our king is not interested in saving himself.

Throughout his ministry Jesus multiplies bread and

fish to satisfy the needs of others. He heals physical

and spiritual maladies. The second criminal under-

stands and makes a request Jesus immediately

grants, “Jesus, remember me when you come into

your kingdom.” Jesus lives a life poured out for oth-

ers from the very beginning to the very end. Even

now our king stands ready, not to save himself, but

to save us.

Reflexión del Evangelio:

En los últimos momentos de Jesús en la cruz, está rodeado

de personas que gritan: "sálvate a ti mismo". Los gober-

nantes, los soldados y la víspera uno de los criminales cru-

cificados a su lado repiten esta burla. En sus palabras, po-

dríamos escuchar un eco de la tentación que Jesús experi-

mentó al comienzo de su ministerio, cuando el diablo le

pide que cambie la roca en pan para saciar su hambre, o

que se arroje del parapeto del templo y sea salvado por án-

geles Jesús se niega, por supuesto. Nuestro rey no está in-

teresado en salvarse a sí mismo. A lo largo de su ministe-

rio, Jesús multiplica el pan y el pescado para satisfacer las

necesidades de los demás. Él cura enfermedades físicas y

espirituales. El segundo criminal entiende y hace una soli-

citud. Jesús inmediatamente le concede: "Jesús, acuérdate

de mí cuando vengas a tu reino". Jesús vive una vida derra-

mada por los demás desde el principio hasta el final. Inclu-

so ahora nuestro rey está listo, no para salvarse a sí mismo,

sino para salvarnos.

MINISTRY ASSIGNMENT

Some Words from the Pastor: Hail ! Jesus Christ our King! We celebrate

the Solemnity of Christ the King this

Sunday , which also marks the end of the

liturgical year. After this week we will be

starting a new Year of Grace with the

celebration of the First Sunday of Advent.

As we highlight this great solemnity of the Lord, let our

hearts be filled with joy and gratitude for everything that

the Lord does for us. He has saved us and continues to

show his mercy on us. Let us share the good news of the

Lord whose reign is that of justice, love and peace. Pope

Francis would always say that there is always joy in

proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord. And there is joy in

his presence as we celebrate the Eucharist. There is joy in

serving him and his church. As our Lord and King, Jesus

is truly the source of our joy and strength.

Let us be filled with gratitude because the Lord provides

for us always. It is a gratitude that we can show together

as a nation as we celebrate Thanksgiving Day. What are

we grateful to God for? Whenever the members of

families are gathered for dinner, each one is asked in

prayer, if they have this tradition, to mention a specific

blessing that makes him or her grateful to God. Let us

think of one specific blessing that we have received,

among many, and thank the Lord for that. As a family of

God, let us thank him for the gift of his Son, Jesus Christ,

who is our King. The Eucharist is a celebration of

thanksgiving. Let us altogether be grateful as we gather

around the table of the Lord.

help you communicate more effectively with them, and it can also clue

you in to any suspicious or potentially dangerous relationships in their

lives. Active listening lets the speaker know that you have heard,

understood, and valued what he or she said. Often, children don’t feel

this way, but with a few easy tactics, you can change that, building a

relationship of trust and respect. As an active listener, be sure to make

eye contact while the child is speaking. Ask follow-up questions and

check in to make sure you both understand what’s being said. Avoid

“yes or no” questions and instead ask open-ended questions that will

Algunas Palabras Del Sacerdote: Viva! Jesucristo nuestro rey! Celebramos la

solemnidad de Cristo Rey este domingo, que

también marca el final del año litúrgico.

Después de esta semana comenzaremos un

nuevo año de gracia con la celebración del

primer domingo de Adviento. Al resaltar esta

gran solemnidad del Señor, que nuestros

corazones se llenen de alegría y gratitud por todo lo que el

Señor hace por nosotros. Nos ha salvado y continúa mostrando

su misericordia con nosotros. Compartamos las buenas nuevas

del Señor, cuyo reino es el de la justicia, el amor y la paz. El

Papa Francisco siempre diría que siempre hay alegría en

proclamar el Evangelio de nuestro Señor. Y hay alegría en su

presencia mientras celebramos la Eucaristía. Hay alegría en

servirle a él y a su iglesia. Como nuestro Señor y Rey, Jesús es

verdaderamente la fuente de nuestro gozo y fortaleza. Seamos

llenos de gratitud porque el Señor nos provee siempre. Es un

agradecimiento que podamos mostrar juntos como nación

mientras celebramos el Día de Acción de Gracias. ¿Por qué

estamos agradecidos con Dios? Cada vez que los miembros de

las familias se reúnen para cenar, se les pide a cada uno en

oración, si tienen esta tradición, que mencionen una bendición

específica que lo haga agradecido a Dios. Pensemos en una

bendición específica que hemos recibido, entre muchas, y

agradezcamos al Señor por eso. Como familia de Dios, demos

gracias por el regalo de su Hijo, Jesucristo, quien es nuestro

Rey. La Eucaristía es una celebración de acción de gracias.

Seamos completamente agradecidos mientras nos reunimos

alrededor de la mesa del Señor.
