Congratulations to all the children who received their First Holy Communion. It was a beautiful celebration that we had last Saturday. We have seen how excited and joyful they were as they received Jesus. Likewise congratulations too, to the confirmands who were sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Bishop Barron certainly inspired them as he invited them to make an oath as soldiers of Christ and commit themselves to Him as the center of their lives. I wish to thank once again all the staff, catechists, volunteers and teachers who accompanied our young people in their journey of faith. Your commitment and sacrifices

made this possible for them. May God bless you always and your families. We pray for all mothers today as we celebrate Mother’s Day this Sunday, on the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord.

DID YOU KNOW? Know the signs of abuse and talk to your children about them Some signs of abuse are too obvious to hide. Unexplained bruises and

injuries may indicate abuse at home, and children who are close to a

victim may notice these injuries more quickly than an adult, because

they spend more time together. Children also share secrets with each

other, and if a child is being abused, he/she may be more comfortable

confiding in a close friend than an adult. It is important to talk to chil-

dren about the signs of abuse, and encourage them to talk to you. To

Felicidades a todos los niños que

recibieron su Primera Comunión. Fue

una hermosa celebración que

tuvimos el sábado pasado. Hemos

visto lo emocionados y alegres que

estaban cuando recibieron a Jesús.

Del mismo modo, felicitaciones a los confirman-

dos que fueron sellados con el don del Espíritu

Santo. Obviamente, el Obispo Barron los inspiró

cuando los invitó a hacer un juramento como sol-

dados de Cristo y comprometerse con Él como el

centro de sus vidas. Deseo agradecer una vez

más a todo el personal, catequistas, voluntarios y

maestros que acompañaron a nuestros jóvenes

en su camino de fe. Su compromiso y sacrificio

hicieron que esto sea posible para ellos. Que

Dios los bendiga siempre y a sus familias.

Oremos por todas las madres hoy mientras

celebramos el Día de la Madre este domingo, en

la solemnidad de la Ascensión del Señor.

¿SABÍA USTED?

Conozca los signos de abuso y hable con sus hijos sobre

ellos. Algunas señales de abuso son demasiado obvias para

ocultarse, especialmente si un niño está tratando de encubrir

evidencia. Los moretones y lesiones inexplicables pueden

indicar abuso en el hogar, y los niños que están cerca de la

víctima pueden notar estas lesiones más rápidamente que un

adulto, porque pasan más tiempo juntos. Los niños también

comparten secretos entre sí, y si se está abusando de un niño,

él/ella puede sentirse más cómodo/a confiando en un amigo

cercano que en un adulto. Es importante hablar con los niños

sobre las señales de abuso y alentarlos a hablar con usted.
